In a massive crackdown on Tuesday, at least 14 coaching centres and libraries were sealed owing to the violations of fire safety norms. And notice has been issued to dozens more, this crackdown happened after the recent deadly blaze at Lucknow coaching centre that killed at least 15 students. On Tuesday morning the municipal corporation along with police carried out this massive operation, during the inspections fire safety arrangements were verified, this included the arrangement of firefighting equipment, emergency exits and compulsory no objection certificates.

150 coaching and libraries get notice

The Chief Fire Officer Devendra Meena shared that since June 4, almost 600 units particularly in the Pink City heritage area have been issued notices, including 150 coaching institutes and libraries. Meena shared that many institutes that have been operating for decades don’t have enough safety measures and hence sealed immediately and at least 24 others have been sent notices as they failed to comply with the norms.

One of the authorities shared that the drive is a precautionary measure as a huge number of students are everyday attending coaching centres in the city and it is thus essential to keep the safety measures in place.

During the inspection, officials’ cross check if the mandatory firefighting system is in place, if the validity of the equipment is in place and if an arrangement exists. Documents NOCs were verified at all the coaching centres and libraries.

10 Coaching Centers sealed in Indore

Just like Jaipur, a massive drive was carried out inIndore, Madhya Pradesh, 10 coaching centres were sealed owing to the lapse inthe fire safety measures. All this crackdown is happening after the fire incident in Lucknow. The operation was carried out by a joint team of the Indore administration, Municipal Corporation, and Fire Department. While the institutes were checked, many were found to have safety lapses, even emergency exits were blocked at many places and thus they were sealed immediately.
