The 104th Nand Ghar in the state of Jharkhand developed at Dhobil village was inaugurated in the presence of Joba Manjhi, Minister of Department of Women, Child Development and Social Security, Govt. of Jharkhand.
The Nand Ghar journey began in 2015 with a vision to transform the lives of 8.5 crore children and 2 crore women across 13.7 lakh anganwadis. A dream CSR project of Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal, Nand Ghar is a network of model anganwadis where the thrust is on inclusive development of children, women and local communities.

What is Nand Ghar?

Nand Ghar is the flagship CSR initiative of Vedanta group in association with the Ministry of Women & Child Development under which a concept of modern anganwadis creates a conducive environment for early childhood development (ECD) which includes elements critical to child’s cognitive, social and emotional development.
Nand Ghars are equipped with solar panels to ensure 24X7 electricity, water purifiers, clean toilets and smart television sets, and have become a model resource centre for the local communities. Quality pre-school education is provided to children in the age group of 3-6 years. Nutritious meals and take-home rations are being provided for children, pregnant and lactating women. Primary healthcare services are rendered through mobile health vans and women are empowered through skilling, credit linkage and enterprise development.
Joba Manjhi complimented Vedanta for making a difference in the lives of women and children at the grassroots level. She said, “It gives me immense pleasure to inaugurate this Nand Ghar at Dhobil, which is a modern version of the Anganwadi. It is one of the finest examples of CSR. I am sure this well-equipped Anganwadi Centre will help in the upliftment of education facilities in the early stages of learning and empowering communities around particularly women from the periphery of Dhobil. I appreciate Vedanta for creating this model and urge all the villagers to avail maximum benefits from Nand Ghars.”
Sauvick Mazumdar, CEO, Iron & Ferro Alloys Business, Vedanta Ltd. said “I am delighted to see that Vedanta’s flagship CSR project Nand Ghar is positively transforming millions of lives across the country which is the vision of our Chairman Anil Agarwal. Our constant endeavour is to be a major contributor towards the holistic community development across the country ultimately leading to the larger goal of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.”
