UPSSSC Extends Deadline for PET-2026 Applications to September 7

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has extended the application deadline for the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET)-2026 to September 7, 2026. This extension provides candidates an additional six days to register, pay the application fee, and submit their online application forms. Originally, the last date for these tasks was set for September 1, 2026.

The new deadline allows candidates who encountered difficulties while registering to complete their applications without penalties. The commission will maintain September 8 as the date for fee adjustments and corrections to submitted applications.

The notification regarding PET-2026 was released by UPSSSC on August 1, 2026, under Advertisement No. 16-Examination2026, and the online application commenced on August 3. With the original closing date looming, the commission has recognised the need for additional time for applicants facing issues.

Reports of Challenges During Registration

The commission’s decision to extend the deadline aims to accommodate those affected by these technical problems. This move is intended to ensure that all eligible candidates have a fair opportunity to participate in the registration process for the PET-2026.

According to the adjusted timeline, candidates who have not completed their applications can now do so by the new deadline. Additionally, individuals who have already submitted their forms can utilise the correction window leading to the end date for modifications on September 8.

Application Requirements and Fees Remain Unchanged

Despite the extension, the application process, fee structure, selection criteria, and other conditions outlined in the original notification remain constant. The fee for General and OBC candidates is set at Rs 185, while SC and ST candidates are required to pay Rs 95. Candidates with disabilities will have a reduced fee of Rs 25.

Candidates must have passed Class 10 or an equivalent examination to be eligible for the PET-2026. Additionally, the age eligibility is established between 18 to 40 years, with applicable relaxations for specific categories.

PET serves as a qualifying examination for recruitment to various positions within the UPSSSC framework. Successful candidates will be considered for various recruitment processes where PET scores are a prerequisite.

UPSSSC has advised candidates to complete their applications promptly instead of waiting for the final day, as this will ensure they can address any potential issues without last-minute stress. Applicants are encouraged to carefully review all information entered in their applications and utilise the correction window for necessary changes before it closes on September 8, 2026.
