Spark Minda Foundation reaches 1000 people with Disabilities during 10-day Camp in Uttar Pradesh

Spark Minda Foundation, the CSR arm of Spark Minda Group recently conducted a 10-day camp in Uttar Pradesh as part of its initiative to empower People with Disabilities (PwD). The camp held in Noida from March 25th to April 3rd 2022 provided complimentary callipers, artificial limbs, crutches, wheelchairs, elbow crutches and walkers to the attending PwDs. In the past 10 days, nearly 900 fitments were distributed, 177 Divyangs given employment and 128 Unique Disability Identification (UDID) registrations supported as part of our CSR initiative.
The camp is part of Spark Minda’s national award-winning Saksham empowerment programme that has drawn participation from over 10,000 PwDs over the years. The beneficiaries primarily come from the states of Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Bihar.
The Foundation also organised a felicitation ceremony on 4th April 2022, where programme partners like CII, ASSOCHAM, NAB and other partner NGOs were also present.
Sarika Minda, Chairperson, Spark Minda Foundation said, “It is truly heartening to see how far the Saksham programme has come since its inception. We started this programme out of our desire to make a difference and I’m very proud of the life-changing impact brought in the lives PwDs, together with support from our partners.”
Aakash Minda, Executive Director – Group Finance & Strategy, Spark Minda said, “The Saksham programme continues to provide aid to the people with disabilities (PwD). Till date, we have provided 10,000 fitments. In addition to this, we have set up a new Empowerment of People with Disability center in Noida in November 2021. We also have employed over 500 PwDs across our Group and our aim is to empower more people with Disabilities in the coming years.”
The Saksham programme was launched by the Spark Minda Group in 2015. Its aim is to empower Divyangs through access to assistive and accessible aid, employment support, UDID registration and skill development opportunities. Spark Minda runs two centers for Empowerment of Divyangs in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra with the highest number of beneficiaries. The group aims to maximize its reach in the next three years, with the aim of helping Divyangs to live their lives with dignity and to the best of their abilities. The Group was awarded with the National CSR Award in the year 2019 for the Saksham programme.
