During his performance at Engifest 2025 at Delhi Technological University (DTU) on Sunday the audience became disobedient which forced Sonu Nigam to stop the concert. More than 100,000 students in attendance began hurling rocks and bottles toward the stage platform creating dangerous conditions for the singer and his team members.
Concert Stopped Due to Chaos
Sonu stopped his show and spoke directly to audience members who needed to end their disruptive actions. I have come to perform because I want everybody to enjoy a good time together. “I’ve come here for you so that we can all have a good time. I’m not saying don’t enjoy, but please, don’t do this,” he pleaded. The singer’s genuine care for his team became clear when he mentioned that ongoing disruptions could lead to harmful injuries.
The situation was resolved, and Sonu resumed the performance after the crowd calmed down. Despite the tense moment, videos from the concert, including lighter moments such as a pink bunny headband being thrown at the singer (which he humorously wore), surfaced on social media.
Similar Incidents in Past Took Place
Sonu Nigam has already encountered a similar situation previously. A concert performance in February 2025 drove Sonu Nigam to frustration when crowds disrupted his show at Kolkata. The repeated audience interruptions during his show caused him to yell at the crowds “If you want to stand, go stand in elections!” He expressed his agitation because he demanded the audience to take their seats so that the show could smoothly continue.
Despite these challenges, Sonu Nigam continued sharing snippets of his energetic performances on his official social media accounts, choosing not to comment publicly on the disruptions. The singer’s concerts continue to attract large crowds, though incidents like these have left fans questioning the behavior of some concertgoers.
