Mumbai Metro Stations get sanitary pad vending machines

Taking special care for the safety, hygiene and comfort of women passengers and to give them a hassle-free smooth ride, Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd. Has installed sanitary pad vending machines at some of the metro stations within the city. Inner Wheel Club of Borivli and Hansraj Damodar Charitable Trust have collaborated with Maha Mumbai Metro in this initiative.

Available at stations

Currently, sanitary pad vending machines have been installed at five metro stations. These are Andheri, Gundavli, Akurli, Kandivali and Dahisar. However, plan is on to extend the project further so that these machines can be installed at the other metro stations also.

They also shared photos of the machines and smiling faces of metro’s female staff.

Metro Rail Lines 2A and 7 were inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January this year. Lines 2A and 7 connect Dahisar East with Andheri West and Gundavali with Ovaripada respectively.
As per reports, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) plans to complete the first phase of the Metro Line 9 corridor by next year. This is expected to connect Mumbai with Mira-Bhayandar cutting travel time and reducing traffic congestion at Dahisar toll booth.
