Mathura District Magistrate Highlights Holi Preparations for Devotees

Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, February 28: The District Magistrate of Mathura has confirmed that comprehensive arrangements have been established to facilitate a joyful Holi experience for both residents and tourists. Chandra Prakash Singh, the District Magistrate, expressed his delight regarding the preparations, emphasizing that the atmosphere feels exceptionally vibrant, as if Lord Krishna himself is participating in the festivities. He conveyed his hopes for happiness and prosperity in everyone’s life as the festival approaches.

Commencement of Lathmar Holi

This Wednesday marked the onset of the dynamic and spirited Lathmar Holi in the twin towns of Barsana and Mathura, initiating a week-long celebration that attracts devotees and visitors from across India and the globe. This ancient festival, deeply rooted in the local traditions surrounding Lord Krishna and Radha, is characterized by the lively application of colors, music, sweets, and the playful engagement with sticks known as lathis.

Crowds Gather for Holi Utsav

A significant number of devotees partook in the Holi Utsav at Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan, an important religious site within the Mathura district, in anticipation of the festival that will occur next week. Participants were observed joyfully applying gulal, a colored powder, to each other. Additionally, priests at the temple participated in tossing gulal on the devotees who came to pay their respects, creating a colorful and festive environment.

Celebrations in Ayodhya

On the same day, Naga sadhus and various saints celebrated Rangbhari Ekadashi with equal enthusiasm and devotion in Ayodhya. They engaged in Holi festivities by playing with gulal and showcasing the holy flag from Hanumangarhi Temple. This event featured numerous saints gathering at the temple, applying gulal to one another, which marks the traditional commencement of Holi celebrations in the sacred city.
