Laapataa Ladies Dominates at IIFA Awards, Winning 10 Trophies

The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards celebrated its Silver Jubilee edition this year in Jaipur, over the weekend. The celebrations kicked off on Saturday, March 8, with the recognition of the best talents in OTT films and series, followed by the grand ceremony honoring the best in film on Sunday night.
The film Laapataa Ladies under director Kiran Rao claimed the most awards at the awards ceremony with its impressive total of ten wins. Major honors went to Laapataa Ladies during the awards night where Kiran Rao received Best Director along with the titles for Best Picture and Best Performance in a Leading Role (Female) which Nitanshi Goel claimed. After winning praise for her lost bride character Goel expressed gratitude during her speech after receiving the award.It’s a rare privilege to win an award for a film like Laapataa Ladies. Laapataa Bags More Awards

The film triumphed in both screenplay and story categories with Biplab Goswami receiving Best Original Story along with Sneha Desai taking the Best Screenplay award and Jabeen Merchant winning Best Editing. The songSajniwon Best Lyrics for Prashant Pandey while Best Music Director recognition went to Ram Sampath in the Laapataa Ladies music category.
The Laapataa Ladies cast members Ravi Kishan and Pratibha Ranta received the awards for Best Performance in a Supporting Role (Male) and Best Debut (Female) at the Filmfare Awards.

Kartik Aaryan & Ragahv Juyal Also Receives IIFA

The Best Performance in a Leading Role (Male) honoring went to Kartik Aaryan from Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 while Raghav Juyal received Best Performance in a Negative Role for Kill.
Laapataa Ladies follows two young brides who accidentally switch places on their way to become wives of their husbands. The film represented India in the Best International Feature category at the 97th Academy Awards but missed the final nomination round.
At this special event, Rakesh Roshan received the Outstanding Achievement in Indian Cinema award while the ceremony celebrated remarkable achievements in Indian film. During its Silver Jubilee IIFA Awards hosted a grand event that showcased the extensive creative talent present within the Indian film industry.
