Heavy rainfall over the last 24 hours has led to significant flooding in various regions of Chhattisgarh. The incessant downpour has resulted in the Kharun River swelling, leading to waterlogging in numerous villages located in the Raipur and Durg districts.

The prolonged rainfall has caused rivers and various water bodies to overflow, severely impacting daily life and local infrastructure. Several roads in these districts have been submerged, further complicating the situation for commuters and residents alike.

Roads linking Raipur to Patan and Durg via Mahadev Ghat have reportedly been inundated, thus hindering transportation and mobility in the region. Such adverse conditions have raised concerns about accessibility for those in affected areas.

Areas Most Affected by Flooding

Flood-like conditions have been particularly reported in Amleshwar and Khudmuda villages within the Durg district, where water levels have risen alarmingly. Many roads are completely submerged, rendering them invisible, and a considerable number of households have experienced water intrusion, creating challenges for the residents.

In addition to the affected villages, the Raipur-Bhilai road passing through Mahadev Ghat has also seen significant disruption due to waterlogging. The intense flow of water has made it difficult for vehicles to navigate, leading to increased travel times and detours.

The concerns of residents living in low-lying areas have intensified due to the ongoing rainfall. Many individuals have experienced disruption in their daily routine, with water accumulation impeding essential activities.

Weather Forecast and Future Conditions

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that the weather conditions may persist. On September 26, a forecast was issued predicting generally cloudy skies with intermittent rain or thundershowers. Additionally, the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning has been highlighted.

Temperature predictions for September 26 indicate a maximum of around 26°C and a minimum of 22°C. Looking ahead to September 27, the IMD expects partly cloudy skies with a chance of one or two spells of rain or thundershowers, alongside similar thunderstorm activity.

For September 27, temperatures are likely to fluctuate between 29°C and 23°C. These continuing weather patterns may result in further complications for the residents of Chhattisgarh, particularly in areas already afflicted by flooding.
