The recent incident in Delhi’s Rohini district, reminiscent of the Bollywood film “Special 26”, began when a group of individuals arrived at a local businessman’s residence claiming to be officers from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Dressed in alleged CBI uniforms and displaying what appeared to be identity cards, the group sought entry into the home to conduct a raid. However, the requests were denied when the businessman’s wife expressed her doubts about their legitimacy.

This scenario unfolded on August 20, 2026, leading to a standoff lasting approximately 90 minutes. Family members remained cautious, and the gate was not opened. The presence of neighbours further heightened scrutiny, forcing the alleged officers to retreat without gaining access.

Immediate Reactions and Evidence Gathered

As the confrontation escalated, the family requested valid documentation, including a search warrant, from the supposed CBI officers. Their insistence prompted the group to claim that the necessary paperwork was located in their vehicle. Under increasing pressure, they eventually departed the premises without conducting any search.

Following the encounter, the family received a WhatsApp message that seemingly contained a notice with the name and signature of a CBI director; however, this message was subsequently deleted. The family managed to capture a screenshot of the communication and provided it to law enforcement, alongside the identity cards displayed during the encounter and CCTV footage from the property.

The family had proactively contacted the police emergency number, 112, during the incident, leading to the arrival of officers at the scene. However, they later expressed frustration that no immediate action was taken by the police in response to their complaint and evidence submitted.

Arrests Made in Connection with the Fake Raid

Three days after the incident, on August 23, 2026, the Delhi Police apprehended three individuals identified as Pooja, Asifa, and Kuldeep in connection with the alleged fake CBI raid. Authorities reported that their investigation had revealed a significant connection between the suspects and the targeted household.

Kuldeep, one of the arrestees, was found to have previously worked at the businessman’s premises. This detail led the police to speculate that he may have deliberately selected the house as a target and helped orchestrate the fraudulent raid. Investigators suspect that the group intended to capitalise on the fear associated with CBI scrutiny to gain access to the residence.

The successful arrest of the three suspects highlights the importance of community vigilance and the role of law enforcement in addressing such criminal activities. While the immediate threat has been neutralised, the Delhi Police continue to explore potential links to any additional suspects who may have been involved. The case serves as a reminder of the dangers posed by individuals attempting to exploit the authority of government agencies for personal gain.
