As a part of its CSR vision to bring about the holistic development of underserved communities in a sustainable manner, Sun Pharma, the largest pharmaceutical company in India, has launched an Entrepreneurship Development Program today, in collaboration with the NGO, Udyogwardhini Shikshan Sanstha. This initiative is aimed at empowering women from low-income groups by equipping them with the required skills, knowledge, and resources needed to establish small enterprises.
The pilot project is aimed at empowering 100 women in Vadodara. It includes an intensive six-week training program that combines classroom sessions, industry visits, and hands-on field experience. Through this program, aspiring women entrepreneurs will learn to develop a business mind-set, conduct market surveys, prepare business plans, and access essential market and financial linkages. Industry experts will provide guidance to the participants, helping them to confidently set up sustainable business ventures.
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Chandrashekhar Gowda, AVP, Head – Corporate Social Responsibility, said, “At Sun Pharma, we believe that business and responsibility go hand-in-hand. By investing in and supporting women from low-income backgrounds, we aim to create livelihood opportunities for women and help build resilient communities. This is a pilot project and will be scaled-up based on the outcome of the initiative”.
The program focuses on technical trades such as garment and industrial apparel making, food processing, and food and parcel delivery services. In addition, it aims to create a supportive ecosystem for participants by providing post-training handholding for one year, ensuring the successful establishment and growth of their business enterprises.
By partnering with Udyogwardhini Shikshan Sanstha, a leading organization specializing in entrepreneurship training, Sun Pharma strengthens its commitment to driving long-term social impact through innovative and impactful programs.
