Hyundai Motor India Foundation Aids Income Generation of INR 6.3 Crore for Rural Women

Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), completed Phase 3 of its Empowerment Programme for Rural Women. The program successfully helped 453 beneficiaries generate cumulative income upwards of INR 6.30 Crore, across 5 districts namely Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Ranipet in Tamil Nadu.
Speaking about the program, Mr. Saravanan T, Trustee, Hyundai Motor India Foundation said, “Hyundai Motor India Foundation is committed to making a difference in the lives of people through our various social responsibility initiatives aligned with our global vision, ‘Progress for Humanity.’ Women being strong contributors to our society, it is vital that we empower them to achieve financial independence to foster an inclusive and sustainable future. We believe that this effort will help them to hone their entrepreneurial skills and fruitfully sustain these income-generating ventures.”
On behalf of Hyundai Motor India Foundation, Mr. Madhan Raj T N, Vertical Head – Management Accounting HMIL, presented ‘Best Performance Awards’ to the women beneficiaries during a felicitation ceremony organized to mark the completion of three phases of the program. In phase 3, implemented in collaboration with NGO partner Hand in Hand India, around 200 women from 80 villages across 3 districts namely Kancheepuram, Ranipet and Tiruvallur were benefitted.
Mr. Thirumaran, Assistant Director – Animal Husbandry Department, Kancheepuram and Mr. Konda Radha Krishna, COO, Hand in Hand India were also present.

About HMIF’s Livelihood Support Program for Rural Women

Launched in 2020, this Livelihood Support Program aims to benefit 5,000 rural women across 5 districts of Tamil Nadu, enhancing the financial independence of women. The program also seeks to provide them with essential skills, resources, and opportunities to generate income and contribute to their communities.
Under this initiative, HMIF supports beneficiaries with cattle, training programs on cattle maintenance, fodder cultivation, financial literacy, cattle insurance, periodic veterinary camps, distribution of milking vessels, and nutrition kits.
Building on the success of the previous two phases, this initiative has positively impacted 453 women in the region till date and helped them earn an additional income of INR 6000 – 8000 per month. In the next phase of this Livelihood Support Program, HMIF will work with an additional 250 women to train them, offer mentorship and support in business development in non-dairy trades.
