Congress Alleges BJP’s efforts to Replace Nitish Kumar as Bihar Chief Minister amid Rajya Sabha Speculations

The CSR Journal Magazine

Rashid Alvi, a senior leader from the Congress party, has made allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that it is plotting to remove Bihar’s Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, from the political landscape. This assertion arises amidst rumors suggesting that Kumar may be offered a position in the Rajya Sabha. Alvi believes this strategy is aimed at allowing the BJP to assume complete control over Bihar’s governance by replacing Kumar with its own Chief Minister.

During statements, Alvi remarked, “The BJP seeks absolute authority and power. Their strategy revolves around outmaneuvering Nitish Kumar by presenting him with a Rajya Sabha seat, thereby relocating him to Delhi.” He emphasized the potential implications, suggesting that such a move could effectively enable the BJP to install its preferred leader in the state of Bihar.

In addition to his comments about Bihar’s political situation, Alvi also discussed the ongoing conflict in West Asia. He described Iranian leader Khamenei as a pivotal figure for the Shia community, akin to the Pope’s role for Catholics. Alvi criticized Israel’s threats against Khamenei, labeling them as terroristic in nature. He expressed concern over the casualties resulting from the violence, particularly the deaths of innocent children amidst bombings, pointing to over 150 children killed in a recent attack. Alvi conveyed disappointment regarding India’s measured response to the situation, questioning the Prime Minister’s silence in light of Iran’s longstanding relationship with India.

Speculation surrounding Nitish Kumar’s resignation has intensified

Speculation surrounding Nitish Kumar’s potential resignation has intensified. Reports from the Janata Dal (United) indicate he may transition to the Rajya Sabha shortly after the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced upcoming elections for the upper house. Meetings are currently taking place at Kumar’s residence in Patna, involving key figures such as the JD(U)’s National Working President Sanjay Jha and Bihar minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary.

Union Minister Giriraj Singh dismissed these rumors, humorously suggesting that conjectures about Kumar stepping down are commonplace, especially around festive times like Holi. “Nitish Kumar ji remains our Chief Minister,” Singh asserted. Meanwhile, JD(U) Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Sanjay Gandhi stated that the decision regarding a potential Rajya Sabha nomination ultimately rests with Kumar himself. “Whether he decides to pursue a Rajya Sabha seat is his choice; we convened to strengthen our organization ahead of the elections,” Gandhi noted.

The Election Commission of India recently revealed the schedule for the biennial elections to the Council of States (Rajya Sabha), which will fill 37 vacancies across 10 states as current members are set to complete their terms by April 2026.
