The second phase of Bihar Assembly elections 2025 was a complete clash of political enthusiasm and strategy. Both NDA and Grand Alliance entered the election field in the mood of “final fight, not accepting defeat”.

In the second phase, maximum attention was focused on three areas, Shahabad, Magadh and Seemanchal. Voting percentage has also been high in these three ranges and speculations are being made that from here it will be decided who will get the keys to power. Let us understand why these three areas are so important in the electoral equation?

NDA eyes new seats in Shahabad

Shahabad range includes four districts like Bhojpur, Rohtas, Kaimur and Buxar. In the last elections i.e. 2020, NDA had suffered a huge setback here. Out of total 22 seats, only 2 seats came in its account, Badhara and Ara seats of Bhojpur. The Grand Alliance had captured the remaining 20 seats. NDA’s account was not even opened in Kaimur, Rohtas and Buxar districts. This time NDA is trying its best to win some new seats in these districts so that the loss can be compensated.

Magadha equation

Magadha region includes Gaya, Jehanabad, Arwal and Aurangabad districts. Out of 26 seats here, NDA had got only 5 seats in 2020. It had won four seats in Gaya, but the Grand Alliance dominated most of the remaining seats. This time NDA is eyeing 21 seats here, where it had lost last time.

Challenges of Seemanchal

Seemanchal means Purnia, Katihar, Araria and Kishanganj. This area has always been considered electorally special. Out of 20 assembly constituencies here, 12 seats are currently with NDA, while its account has not even been opened in Kishanganj. This is the reason why this time NDA was seen putting full emphasis on issues like development and infiltration in Seemanchal.

NDA has hope from three areas

Overall, the battles of Shahabad, Magadh and Seemanchal may prove to be decisive for the NDA this time. The more seats these three areas give, the stronger will be the NDA’s path to power.
