Barapullah Phase 3 Flyover Work Set to Complete Within 6 Months: Delhi Govt.

PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh told the media on Wednesday that work on the Barapullah Phase 3 flyover is set to be completed within six months, once the Public Works Department (PWD) receives permission to fell over 250 trees—an essential step for the project to progress.

The Public Works Department of Delhi (PWD) is still awaiting clearance to fell the trees. A team from the Forest Department inspected the site on June 21, and another meeting is scheduled for June 27, where the PWD is expecting to receive the required permission, officials told national media.

The Barapullah Phase 3 project is a 3.5 km elevated corridor between Mayur Vihar Phase 1 in East Delhi and AIIMS in South Delhi. It envisions seamless connectivity between these two key corners of the Delhi NCR.

Minister Says

“The cost and time escalation of the Barapullah Phase 3 project is a direct consequence of the previous government’s apathy. Delays in the tree transplantation decision and the failure to secure timely court clearances show they had neither the intent nor the courage to stand up for public interest. Delhi paid the price for their inaction,” said Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh.

Earlier, the minister stated that the BJP government in Delhi, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, is planning to operationalise the Barapullah Phase 3 project by December this year.
