Avoid Panic Booking: IndianOil Urges Consumers on LPG Refill Requests

The CSR Journal Magazine

Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IndianOil) reaffirmed that the supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) across the nation remains stable and uninterrupted, despite a noticeable increase in early refill requests from consumers. The company took to X to address the growing trend of advance bookings, which it indicated could lead to challenges in timely deliveries following a surge in demand.

Request for Responsible Booking Practices

In its communication, IndianOil emphasized the importance of booking LPG refills only when necessary. The company stated that panic-driven bookings could exacerbate demand fluctuations, potentially delaying delivery timelines. They encouraged consumers to approach refills with a measured mindset, noting, “A small step can make a big difference: Please book your LPG refill only when required and avoid panic bookings.” IndianOil assured that their teams and distributors are dedicated to facilitating timely cylinder deliveries to households across India.

Impact of Global Energy Disruptions

The concerns regarding LPG supply are occurring amid ongoing global energy supply challenges, primarily influenced by the current situation in West Asia. On March 15, Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Suresh Gopi, addressed these issues, stating that the government is actively engaged in measures to mitigate the impact of global energy constraints on everyday consumers. He clarified that there is no critical shortage of LPG and that steps are being taken to secure alternative supply sources where necessary.

Increased Monitoring and Domestic Production

According to ministerial statements, the government is closely monitoring the domestic LPG supply chain in light of the ongoing geopolitical challenges. Recent reports indicate a significant uptick in domestic LPG production, which has risen by 36 percent to accommodate the demand. Additionally, the trend of online LPG cylinder bookings has also seen a considerable increase, moving from approximately 84 percent to around 90 percent.

Measures Against Hoarding and Black Marketing

State governments are reportedly taking action to prevent hoarding and black marketing of LPG cylinders. Enhanced enforcement measures are being implemented to ensure that the supply chain remains stable and reliable for all consumers. Overall, both IndianOil and governmental bodies are focused on maintaining uninterrupted access to LPG for households while managing supply challenges against the backdrop of current global events.
