Aadhya Tiwari and Jay Meena successfully progressed to the round of 16 in mixed doubles soft tennis at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya. The pair demonstrated impressive skills throughout their matches, beginning their campaign with a decisive 5-0 victory against the Cambodian duo of Viva Chao and Chanroseka Khun. They secured the win with dominant set scores of 4–1, 4–0, 4–2, 4–1, and 4–2.

The Indian pair continued their strong performance in the following match against Mongolia’s Bud Nyamdorj and Enkhkhuslen Ganbaatar, achieving another 5-0 win. The set scores read 4–2, 4–1, 4–1, 4–0, and 5–3, further establishing their competitive edge in the tournament.

However, in their final group game, they faced a setback against South Korea, losing 5-1. This defeat did not hinder their progress as they finished second in the group, securing their place in the knockout stage of the competition.

India’s Shooting Team Achieves Silver Medal

In addition to the mixed doubles achievements, India’s success in shooting continued as the team of Rudrankksh Patil, Parth Mane, and Himanshu Dhillon clinched a silver medal in the men’s 10 m air rifle team event at the Asian Games 2026. The event took place on the same day, with the Indian team scoring a total of 1890.1 points.

This score placed them just behind the leading team from China, which scored 1899.0 points. South Korea secured the bronze medal with a score of 1841.4, marking a competitive day in the shooting events at the games.

This silver medal adds to India’s tally, as this marks their third medal at the ongoing Asian Games 2026, all of which have been silver in the shooting category.

Individual Performance Details

Within the men’s 10 m air rifle individual qualifying round, which also functioned as the team final, Rudrankksh Patil distinguished himself by finishing in third place with a score of 631.8. Himanshu Dhillon closely followed in seventh place, scoring 630.0, while Parth Mane finished in eleventh place with a score of 628.3.

Both Rudrankksh and Himanshu’s performances were sufficient to qualify them for the individual finals, scheduled to take place later in the competition. Their successful execution in both team and individual events reflects the growing strength of Indian athletes in shooting disciplines.

The team’s collective efforts on September 21 showcased India’s dedication and talent at the Asian Games, and the nation continues to hope for further achievements as the tournament progresses.
