As a part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme JSW Steel Limited, Odisha has adopted all the 27 tigers for a year for the Adopt an Animal programme of Nandankanan Zoological Park Bhubaneswar.
A draft for an amount of Rs. 29 lakh for the same was handed over to the authorities at the 61st Nandankanan foundation day function held at the Nandankanan Zoological park in Bhubaneswar. The amount will be spent for the healthcare and food of tigers and animals which have taken a hit because of shortage of funds due to closure of park earlier during pandemic.
Ranjan Nayak, COO JSW Steel Ltd Barbil, Odisha said, “The Coronavirus pandemic has caused significant disruption to businesses world over, but the zoos seem to have been struggling the most with lack of visitors. It is for the larger cause of preservation of fauna and tigers in particular (which is our national animal) that we have taken this small step. We are thankful to everyone who have been standing for this noble cause.”
Rakesh Mishra – Head HR, JSW Steel Ltd, Barbil in Odisha lauded the efforts of Nandankanan staff who had given their best in taking care of the animals during the pandemic.
