Sanjay Nishad Alleges SP Involvement in Encroachment on Phoolan Devi’s Property

The CSR Journal Magazine

Uttar Pradesh Minister Sanjay Nishad has accused the Samajwadi Party of allegedly encroaching on the property of late former MP Phoolan Devi. Nishad has called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her demise, asserting that the Nishad community is no longer willing to be used for political gain. He remarked that transient political leaders often exploit the Nishad votes to secure power and then forget the injustices faced by the community.

During a recent press interaction, Nishad elaborated on this viewpoint, emphasising the neglect of the Nishad community by leaders, who, according to him, engage in deception. He highlighted Phoolan Devi’s legacy, underlining her direct communication with the Prime Minister regarding her safety in Uttar Pradesh. He referenced her poignant statement about seeking protection in another state if her concerns were not adequately addressed.

Nishad lamented that political entities including Congress and the Samajwadi Party had previously exploited Phoolan Devi for their own ends but failed to uphold their commitments to her. He mentioned the need for accountability, expressing concern over the lack of justice since her passing.

Concerns Over Property and Treatment of Phoolan Devi’s Family

In his statements, Nishad asserted that Phoolan Devi’s property has been taken over by a leader from the Samajwadi Party, reportedly showing a lack of respect for her mother. He accused Mr Chaurasia from the Samajwadi Party of not only seizing the property but also failing to treat her family with the dignity they deserve. These remarks come in the context of ongoing social and political dialogue regarding the treatment of marginalized communities and their leaders.

The Minister questioned the events leading up to Phoolan Devi’s discontent with mainstream political parties before her tragic death, raising alarm about the implications of her forming her own political party, ‘Ek Love Sena’. He highlighted the alarming fact that she was killed shortly after establishing her political identity, indicating a disconnect from the promises made to her during her career.

Nishad further articulated the need for transparency regarding why Phoolan Devi felt the necessity to form her own party, and why the assurances given by political leaders were not fulfilled. He linked these points to a perceived negligence toward her safety, questioning how leaders could forget their commitments.

Nishad Community’s Awakening and Political Discourse

Nishad conveyed a strong message that the Nishad community has awakened politically and will no longer fall for superficial political gestures. He described a sense of betrayal felt by the community regarding the promises made by political leaders, stating that the community would not tolerate being misled anymore. His assertion reflects a growing sentiment among various community groups seeking to reclaim agency in their political affairs.

Addressing comments made by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday being referred to as “Unemployment Day,” Nishad reaffirmed the necessity of showing respect for the Prime Minister. He argued that political differences should not overshadow respect for elected leaders, stating that the Prime Minister is a representative of the entire nation.

On other political matters, Nishad commented on the Election Commission’s decision to freeze the Trinamool Congress’s election symbol, underscoring the importance of maintaining the independence of the Election Commission. He asserted that the democratic process relies on the Commission’s autonomy and that all political actors should respect its decisions, thereby ensuring fair and transparent elections.
