The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) will administer the NEET PG 2026 examination on August 30, 2026. More than 2.73 lakh candidates have registered to participate in this highly anticipated medical entrance examination. The exam is scheduled to take place in a single shift, starting from 9 am and concluding at 12:30 pm.

All candidates are required to bring their NEET PG admit card to the examination centre. It is essential to carry a valid, government-issued photo identity proof on the exam day. Prior to departing for the centre, candidates must thoroughly check the instructions detailed on their individual admit cards, ensuring that their photograph and other relevant details are clear and correspond to the identity documents they will present.

Prohibited Items and Candidate Instructions

NBEMS has implemented strict guidelines regarding items that candidates are not permitted to bring into the examination hall. Mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, Bluetooth devices, earphones, electronic pens, pen drives, and other electronic gadgets are explicitly prohibited. It is crucial for candidates to comply with these restrictions to avoid any potential issues on the exam day.

In addition to electronic devices, candidates should refrain from bringing stationery items such as pens, wallets, handbags, writing pads, notes, printed materials, food items, and water bottles. Jewellery and accessories, including belts, may also be restricted as per the exam-day guidelines. By adhering to these regulations, candidates can ensure a smooth examination process.

Candidates are strongly advised to arrive at the examination centre well before the reporting time indicated on their admit card. It is imperative to follow the prescribed dress code and to comply with any security instructions issued by the examination authorities to facilitate a smooth entry into the examination hall.

Changes to NEET PG 2026 Exam Pattern

This year, NBEMS has announced modifications to the NEET PG exam pattern. One of the notable changes is the reduction in the total number of questions. The exam will consist of 180 multiple-choice questions, down from the previous tally of 200. The maximum score a candidate can achieve remains at 720 marks.

For each correct answer, candidates will continue to earn four marks, while one mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer. The entire question paper will be segmented into five sections, with each section containing 36 questions. It is important to note that every section will have a fixed time limit of 42 minutes, and once the allotted time for a section concludes, candidates will not be allowed to revisit it.

These changes aim to streamline the assessment process, ensuring that candidates are evaluated effectively within the stipulated time frame. It is advisable for candidates to prepare adequately for this revised exam structure in order to maximize their scoring potential.
