Mamata Banerjee warns Prime Minister Modi about Amit Shah, calls him “Mir Jafar”

The CSR Journal Magazine

Mamata Banerjee has cautioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi against his most trusted lieutenant and the country’s Home Minister Amit Shah. She has also compared him to “Mir Jafar” who is infamous in history for conspiring with the British against Bengal’s Nawab Siraj ud-Daulah and helped the British in the Battle of Plassey.

“This is all Amit Shah’s game. He behaves like he is the acting Prime Minister of the country. The PM knows everything. I am sorry to say so. We can only request him (Modi) that don’t trust Amit Shah so much. Ek din wo aapka Mir Jafar ban jaayega (One day he will become your Mir Jafar),” Mamata said at the Kolkata airport upon her return to the state capital after a three-day tour of flood-affected north Bengal. “Be careful,” she concluded.

Why air-fares high?

West Bengal Chief Minister also spoke about the increased air-fares from Bagdogra to Kolkata during the ongoing floods in North Bengal. “They are giving discounts during Chhath. I have no problem. In our state also, many people observe Chhath. But, North Bengal is now flooded but flight fares from Bagdogra to Kolkata have increased to 18 thousand. Those who are getting flights via Delhi, fare will be increased to 42 thousand. This is unfair.”

Mamata slams Tripura government

She also slammed Tripura government for not allowing Trinamool Congress’ six-member delegation to reach their destination. “Police is not allowing them to take even pre-paid taxi also. In our delegation, SC MP, ST minister are there. They don’t even allow to go outside airport. I told them to go on foot. If that will also not be allowed then, I will go there. Then, will see how much power they have.”

A five-member delegation of TMC on Wednesday went to Agartala, the capital town of Tripura to assess the political situation of the state as their state party office at Agartala ransacked on Tuesday.

Murmu, an MP from Malda district, was assaulted, and stones were thrown on his car by some villagers at Nagrakata in Jalpaiguri district, where he went with Ghosh to assess the damage. The BJP won the Nagrakata assembly seat in 2021.
