A disturbing case of public sexual harassment surfaced from Haryana. This comes after a 30-year-old model alleged that a man masturbated in front of her in broad daylight. The incident occurred at Rajiv Chowk, on the morning of August 2. The shocking incident took place at around 11 am as she waited for a cab after arriving from Jaipur.

Victim Left Stunned

In her statement, the model said she initially froze in shock and fear when she noticed the man exposing himself and staring at her. Unable to process the situation, she remained silent. When she later reached out to police and women’s helplines, she received no response.

Frustrated, she shared a video of the incident on social media on August 4. She tagged police officials and women’s welfare bodies in her post.

Police File FIR Following Social Media Uproar

As the post went viral, the Gurugram Police filed an FIR against the unidentified man. The case was filed under Sections 75(2) (sexual harassment) and 78 (stalking) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The case was registered at the Civil Lines police station.

Police said they began investigating only after her video gained public attention.

Suspect Seen in CCTV, Wearing Mask

Gurugram Police PRO Sandeep Kumar said that surveillance footage is being reviewed to track the suspect’s movements. He was described as wearing a check shirt, denim trousers, a face mask, and carrying a backpack in front.

Officials assured that they are working to trace him using CCTV cameras installed at and around Rajiv Chowk.

Model Questions Police Responsiveness

The woman criticised the police for not taking her complaint seriously in the first place. “I didn’t even receive an automated reply,” she said. When she finally reached them, she was told to visit the station physically to file a report, something she called insensitive given the nature of the crime.
