Bihar election should be held in one phase: JDU to ECI

The CSR Journal Magazine

There was a meeting between the Election Commission team and political parties regarding the Bihar assembly elections in Patna. During this, JDU clearly demanded before the Commission that elections should be held in the entire Bihar in a single phase. JDU executive president Sanjay Kumar Jha said that the law and order situation in the state is fine and the problem of Naxalism is almost over. In such a situation, when elections can be held in a phase in Maharashtra, then why not in Bihar?

Sanjay Jha said that if elections are held in a single phase, then the expenditure will also be reduced and administrative mess will also decrease. Bihar is fully ready to hold elections in one phase. He urged the Election Commission to deploy central paramilitary forces at all polling stations so that the election is completely peaceful and fair.

Election should be held after Chhath: Jha

JDU leaders also said that Chhath Mahaparva, the biggest festival of Bihar, takes place in November. During this time, a large number of people working outside return to their village. In such a situation, if elections are held immediately after Chhath, more and more people will be able to vote. Sanjay Jha said that this will further strengthen democracy.

During the meeting, JDU also appreciated the role of the Election Commission in the SIR (Special Summary Revision) process. Sanjay Jha said that fake voters have been removed from this process and Bihar is setting examples about this work across the country. He also congratulated the Commission for this initiative.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Election Commissioner Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi reached Patna on the evening of October 3. The Commission team is meeting state officials and political parties for two consecutive days. It is believed that after these meetings, election dates can be announced anytime.
