Apple Set to Unveil iPhone Fold This Year, iPhone 18 Plus in Development

The CSR Journal Magazine

Apple has recently introduced a series of products, including the iPhone 17e and upgraded MacBook models. Following these launches, excitement brews among Apple fans for the upcoming major announcements. Traditionally, Apple’s new iPhone line is revealed in September, and the tech giant is anticipated to unveil the iPhone 18 series later this year. However, speculation indicates that there may be a departure from Apple’s standard launch timeline, possibly involving staggered release dates.

Potential Shift in Launch Schedule

Analyst Tim Long, in a recent analysis for Barclays, suggested a possible change in Apple’s launch strategy. According to his insights, consumers might need to wait until March next year for the base iPhone 18 model. Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to follow the typical schedule and be available in September 2026. This theory aligns with earlier speculation about a divided launch sequence, although Apple has yet to officially confirm these details.

Rumors of a Foldable iPhone

For several years, there has been considerable anticipation surrounding a foldable iPhone, and Long’s note supports claims that Apple is developing this device. It is suggested that shipments of the rumored iPhone Fold could commence as early as December this year, with a potential launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models in September 2026.

Possible Introduction of Additional Models

Long’s analysis also hinted at the emergence of two new devices alongside the standard iPhone 18. These may include an iPhone 18e and either an iPhone 18 Plus or an iPhone Air 2. The speculation regarding the iPhone 18 Plus has raised questions, particularly as there have been no substantial reports confirming its development, and Apple did not introduce an iPhone 17 Plus last year. While some reports highlight a decline in sales for Plus and Air models, there are conflicting suggestions that Apple may announce an iPhone Air 2 in the coming year. No official statements have been released yet, with further clarity expected near the launch dates.

Expected Features of the Foldable iPhone

According to preliminary reports, the foldable iPhone may adopt a book-style format, featuring a 7.8-inch crease-less OLED display on the inside and a 5.5-inch screen on the outside. It is also speculated that both screens will be equipped with punch-hole selfie cameras instead of Face ID, and Touch ID may be integrated into the power button. The device is anticipated to be powered by the upcoming A20 Pro chipset, which is expected to feature in the iPhone 18 Pro models as well.

Specifications and Battery Life

Additional anticipated specifications for the foldable iPhone include 12GB of RAM along with storage options of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. The device is projected to house a 5,500mAh battery, potentially marking it as the largest battery ever used in an iPhone. As Apple prepares for these upcoming launches, the industry awaits further developments and official announcements regarding its innovative product lineup.
