Pakistani National Shot Dead by BSF While Attempting Border Infiltration in Punjab

On Thursday, a Pakistani intruder was gunned down by the Border Security Force (BSF) when he tried to sneak into the Indian territory at the Ferozepur sector of the India-Pakistan border in Punjab. As reported in an official BSF release, the intruder was spotted near the fencing structure at night. Despite the loud warnings by the troops, he kept on advancing and reaching a closer proximity, the BSF shot at him, which resulted in his death on the spot.

The incident occurred amid heightened vigilance along the India-Pakistan border following India’s recent cross-border missile operations—Operation Sindoor—carried out in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which left 26 civilians dead. The Indian strikes reportedly targeted multiple terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Similar Incident of Infiltration was Recorded

In a related development earlier this week, BSF personnel apprehended Muhammad Hussain, another Pakistani national, who allegedly tried to cross into Indian territory in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district. He was found in possession of Pakistani currency and a national identity card, and was handed over to the Punjab Police for further interrogation.

Adding to the string of border security breaches, BSF officials also detained a Pakistani Ranger in Rajasthan for illegally crossing into India. Initial reports suggest the crossing may have been linked to reconnaissance or espionage activities. He remains in BSF custody and is currently under questioning.

BSF Jawan Held By Pakistan After Accidental Crossing

These incidents follow the detention of BSF jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw by Pakistani forces after he accidentally crossed the border from the Indian side in Punjab. While such unintentional crossings are typically resolved through a flag meeting, Pakistan has so far refused to release Shaw or provide any official details about his condition—despite formal protests from India.

The recent string of events has raised serious concerns about the volatile security environment along the India-Pakistan border, with authorities urging constant surveillance and swift response to any breach.
