Muse Wearables, an IIT-Madras incubated startup, has ushered in a new era for payments in India by launching the first wearable payments ecosystem in partnership with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and integrating the trusted RuPay network. At the heart of this ecosystem is Ring One, a stylish smart ring enabling users to make secure, instant payments simply by tapping the device on any NFC-enabled point-of-sale terminal. This eliminates the need for a phone, card or traditional wallet, offering true convenience and security for daily transactions.​

India’s First Wearable Payments Ecosystem

With the launch of Ring One, Muse Wearables aims to democratise access to effortless digital payments for millions of Indian consumers, including those living in Tier-II and Tier-III cities. The new system uses advanced technology, converting any RuPay credit or debit card into a secure digital token stored on a tamper-resistant Secure Element chip. This chip offers banking-grade security and is designed to meet global electronic payment security standards. Sensitive credentials remain completely isolated from smartphones, which means payment data is safeguarded even if the phone is compromised.​

According to K.L.N. Sai Prasanth, CEO and Co-Founder of Muse Wearables, this project stands as a truly sovereign alternative to foreign digital wallet providers, strongly aligning with the ‘Make in India, Made for the World’ philosophy. Muse Wallet, the platform powering these payments, already operates in over 40 countries and supports cards from nearly 600 banks worldwide. Bringing Muse Wallet to India through the RuPay network marks an important milestone for the domestic digital payments industry.​

Revolutionary NFC Payment Technology

Ring One leverages Near Field Communication (NFC) for instant, secure transactions. NFC as a technology is widely used in contactless bank cards and smartphones. With Ring One, users can pay for purchases in seconds by just tapping their ring on any NFC PoS terminal. The secure element chip inside Ring One ensures that card details are tokenised and stored safely, similar to how bank cards and even international passports operate.​

Beyond payments, the smart ring also offers health tracking features, water resistance, extended battery life, and is crafted from materials like Titanium grade 2 and Ceramic. The device comes in various colours and sizes, with a sizing kit included in every order. Muse plans to support all issuers throughout India, making this form of payment truly ubiquitous.​

Global Platform Now Live in India

Muse Wearables is headquartered in Bengaluru and runs a 200-member deep-tech team designing and manufacturing their products in India, but with a global outlook. The Muse Wallet platform and Ring One are already functional in international markets, including the US, Europe, Singapore, and the UAE. With India’s roll-out, RuPay holders can now join the global wave of digital payment innovation.​

Ring One is currently priced at Rs. 28,999, inclusive of the sizing kit, reflecting its status as a premium innovation in wearable payment technology.
