DU Opens Exit Option for UG Students after Completing Three Years

For the first time, Delhi University has formally opened the exit option for undergraduate students after completing three years under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This further consolidates the plan of the government to roll out the four-year undergraduate program.

The notification for the same was issued on Thursday as DU students are preparing to enter the final year of their four-year degree structure for the first time ever since the university adopted NEP for admissions from 2021 onwards.

With DU offering an official exit route, students who successfully complete six semesters or three years can still choose to graduate early with a recognised degree. A four-year course is not compulsory in this case.

“Students are eligible to submit their intent to exit the program with a three-year degree for multiple core discipline programmes and an honours degree for a single core discipline program, as applicable,” stated the notification issued by the registrar of DU on Thursday.

This move further operationalises the new education policy’s provision for multiple entry and exit points in the higher education system. DU has also advised eligible students to submit their intent on the university portal for the same.
