The University of Delhi has opened applications for its Competence Enhancement Scheme (CES) 2026, which aims to provide educational opportunities to individuals of various ages and professional backgrounds. Candidates wishing to apply must meet specific eligibility criteria for the courses they intend to pursue. Working professionals are also eligible to apply, but must provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employers. This requirement ensures that candidates’ employers are aware of their participation in the programme.

Courses, Admission Process, and Seat Availability

Under this scheme, candidates can register for papers provided they meet the minimum eligibility benchmarks and prerequisites of existing courses, pending seat availability. The selection process is merit-based; the university considers factors such as the candidate’s age and the percentage of marks achieved in their prior qualifying degree.

Applicants can opt for a maximum of two papers or eight credits within a semester from the same discipline. The CES’s supernumerary seats are capped at either 10 per cent of the sanctioned class strength or six seats, whichever is lower. This means that only a limited number of students can participate, making early registration advisable.

Both employed and non-employed learners can engage with this programme, although candidates who are already enrolled in another university must submit an NOC if required. However, students currently studying at the University of Delhi are not eligible to apply, though alumni who have completed their studies are welcome to participate.

Programme Fee, Class Structure, and Certification

The current fee for enrolling in the CES is Rs 6,100 per paper. Participants will attend classes in the same format and medium as regular students, ensuring equal learning conditions. Evaluations follow the university’s customary assessment patterns.

Successful candidates who meet attendance and performance criteria will receive a certificate upon completion of their chosen paper. Additionally, the credits earned will be added to their Academic Bank of Credits account, facilitating the accumulation and transfer of educational credits across different programmes.

The CES initiative not only aims to support individuals at various stages of their educational journey but also assists professionals in enhancing their skills and offers senior citizens an avenue to broaden their knowledge base. Moreover, it allows students from other institutions to take one or two courses at Delhi University without needing to enrol in a full-time programme.
