Dancing Queens’ Performance At SWAG Awards
In April 2014, our Supreme Court recognized the third gender in a landmark judgement. However, not much is known about the aspirations, lives and struggles of our country’s transgender community.
With the vision of giving them a voice – Abhina Aher, Urmi Jadhav and Madhuri Sarode founded The Dancing Queens in 2009. The Dancing Queens use dance to break through boundaries. Through sensitive choreography, they showcase and fight for the rights of everyone to be who they want to be and love who they want to love.
We urge each senior corporate leaders to embrace the third gender in the work place by giving them due recognition and respect. We want to see a world where every person has equal rights of opportunity and access. As they end their performance to show us such a world through a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem, please do remember to honour this beloved symbol of our country and let us stand together.
