A class 10 student, of Rohtas district in Bihar, allegedly open-fired at his classmate after they refused to show him an answer sheet during board exams, said the police.
The incident killed one and injured several others. The accused in the case have been detained and according to the police, a country-made pistol has been recovered from his possession. The incident occurred on Thursday when the students were returning home from their exam centre, submitting their class 10th social science exam. According to the police officials, during the Sanskrit exam that was held a day earlier, the boy accused in the case had asked two of his classmates to show him his answer sheets which they refused. He then allegedly threatened them outside the exam centre, which later magnified into a physical confrontation. The brawl was resolved by the other students standing around that day.
However, the next day, when the two students were home with others in an auto, the boy allegedly followed them and forced the auto to stop. He then got into a scaffold with the victims during which the boy allegedly fired a countrymade pistol at them.
A Student Killed
The two injured students were rushed to the nearby hospital and were later shifted to Narayana Medical College. One of them succumbed to his injuries while the other is said to be out of danger.
Incidences of physical and sexual violence at the school level have been constant. What is required out of the state is to pay attention to the unnecessary aggression being spread among students, the repercussions of which they are unable to comprehend because of their young age.
