State Bank of India (SBI), HDFC Bank

State Bank of India (SBI) स्थापना वर्ष: 1806 (Bank of Calcutta के रूप में)

1921 में Bank of Bombay और Bank of Madras के साथ विलय कर इसे Imperial Bank of India नाम दिया गया।

HDFC Bank

ICICI Bank

Mumbai, India: ICICI Bank, along with Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) has announced the commencement of construction of a new cancer care building at TMC’s Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research & Education in Cancer in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. Funded through the Bank’s CSR contribution of ₹625 crore, the facility will be among India’s largest radiation therapy centres, equipped with cutting-edge cancer treatment technologies. This is part of the Bank’s larger commitment of ₹1,800 crore to TMC for setting up of three state-of-the-art cancer care buildings — one each at Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra, Mullanpur (New Chandigarh) in Punjab and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

The groundbreaking ceremony and unveiling of foundation stone for the building —named as ‘ICICI Foundation Block for Radiation Oncology’ — were conducted today. The ceremonies were graced by Mr. Pradeep Kumar Sinha, Chairman, ICICI Bank; Mr. Sandeep Batra, Executive Director, ICICI Bank; Mr. Ajay Gupta, Executive Director, ICICI Bank and Dr. Sudeep Gupta, Director, TMC.

The 11-storey building with a ground floor and two basements will span across 3.4 lakh square feet. It will house 12 state-of-the-art Linear Accelerators (LINACs), and other advanced cancer care equipment. LINACs deliver precise radiation to cancer cells thereby minimising damage to surrounding healthy tissues.

The ‘ICICI Foundation Block for Radiation Oncology’ will serve 7,200 patients with radiation therapies annually, offering over two lakh radiation sessions to these patients. In addition, the block will provide OPD consultations and diagnostics to 25,000 new patients a year. It is expected to be completed by 2027. ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth, the CSR arm of ICICI Bank, will oversee its implementation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pradeep Kumar Sinha, Chairman, ICICI Bank said, “ICICI Bank, through its CSR arm, ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth continues to work in four thematic areas – healthcare, environmental conservation, sustainable livelihood, and community development projects. We are pleased to partner with TMC in a mission towards cancer care, that aligns with our philosophy of strengthening critical healthcare infrastructure in the country. Once completed, the ‘ICICI Foundation Block for Radiation Oncology’ will be one of India’s largest centres for radiation therapy. This will significantly augment availability of advanced radiation therapy to larger sections of society.”

Mr. Sandeep Batra, Executive Director, ICICI Bank stated, “At ICICI Bank, we are committed to supporting healthcare infrastructure in areas of cancer care in the country. Our commitment of ₹1,800 crore to Tata Memorial Centre for setting up three new cancer care hospitals in Visakhapatnam, Navi Mumbai, and Mullanpur underscores this commitment. The construction of the new block at Visakhapatnam has started four months ago. The new building in Navi Mumbai will be equipped with the state-of-the-art healthcare facilities and will increase the current capacity for radiation treatment at this centre six-fold, alongside providing consultations and diagnostics. We are honoured to continue working with TMC to enhance cancer care treatment in the country and make it more accessible to the patients.”

Dr. Sudeep Gupta, Director, Tata Memorial Centre, expresses sincere gratitude to ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth for their generous support in establishing three new blocks at Navi Mumbai, New Chandigarh, and Visakhapatnam. He said, “These facilities will provide state-of-the-art, evidence-based cancer therapy to underserved patients and significantly enhance our capacity for years to come. Notably, the blocks will establish centres of excellence in childhood and adult blood cancers and house one of India’s largest radiation oncology facilities. This contribution strengthens our commitment to delivering advanced, compassionate care to the most needy cancer patients nationwide.”

Dr. Pankaj Chaturvedi, Director, ACTREC said, “This facility will allow Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer, a unit of Tata Memorial Centre, the ability to offer state-of-the-art treatment at an affordable price. This will also be utilised for education and training of medical, technical and paramedical staff that are urgently needed in the country to handle the rising burden of cancer. Needless to say, this will be a major boost to the clinical and translational research capacity of the institution.”

Dr. C S Pramesh, Director, Tata Memorial Hospital stated, “We are grateful to the ICICI Foundation and ICICI Bank for their generous support in establishing the new cancer facility at ACTREC, including state-of-the-art radiation treatment infrastructure. While we deeply appreciate the financial assistance, it goes far beyond that — they have been deeply engaged and hands-on throughout the process. Their partnership strengthens our shared commitment to providing equitable, high-quality cancer care and advancing cutting-edge research that benefits patients across the country.”

The ICICI Foundation Block for Radiation Oncology will include:

Range of advance radiation equipment for precision therapy

Radiology facilities like MRI, CT scanners, CT simulators for outdoor and indoor patients

Dedicated research and training facilities for medical professionals

Mumbai, India: Mumbai: ICICI Bank continues to strengthen its commitment to sustainable development, as highlighted in its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report for FY24-25.

The Bank expanded its social impact initiatives across healthcare, women’s empowerment, and environmental sustainability, reaching 1.89 crore people during the financial year 2024–25. The Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) expenditure stood at ₹801 crore in FY25, a 54% increase from ₹519 crore in the previous year, underscoring its growing commitment to long-term community development.

Social Initiatives:

A significant focus was placed on empowering women through Self-Help Groups (SHGs). In FY25, 10 lakh women were supported under this programme, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 1.1 crore since its inception. These initiatives have enabled women to access credit, enhance financial literacy, and generate sustainable income opportunities in rural and semi-urban areas. Additionally, over 91 lakh individuals benefited from programmes aimed at skill development, agriculture, and micro-enterprises, substantially improving rural livelihoods.

ICICI Bank also expanded its healthcare outreach. In partnership with 550 hospitals, the Bank facilitated medical treatment for 4 lakh individuals, bringing the total number of healthcare beneficiaries to over 25 lakh. As part of its long-term healthcare commitment, the Bank increased its support to the Tata Memorial Centre to ₹1,800 crore, which will contribute to establishing three new cancer hospitals across India.

Environmental Initiatives:

Environmental conservation remains a key priority for ICICI Bank. In FY25, the Bank created water harvesting capacity of 3,387 crore litres and restored 17,453 water bodies. Additionally, rainwater harvesting systems were implemented in 9690 schools. The Bank planted 12 lakh trees during the year, bringing the total to 49 lakh trees since FY22.

Through forest conservation projects across states like Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, the Bank has actively contributed to afforestation and biodiversity conservation. Notably, in Bihar’s Gaya district, the revival of traditional ahar-pyne systems benefited over 11,973 acres of farmland, while watershed development projects in Maharashtra helped improve 1,295 acres of land and supported 370 households.

Governance and ESG Strategy:

ICICI Bank continues to enhance its governance frameworks and integrate ESG factors into its operations. In FY25, the Bank expanded its ESG risk assessment tool to cover additional sectors, and incorporated ESG criteria into credit evaluations for large corporate proposals. The introduction of sector-specific ESG analysis for hard-to-abate industries further strengthens its sustainability initiatives. The Bank remains committed to achieving carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by FY2032.

ICICI Bank’s ESG efforts in FY25 reflect its ongoing dedication to building stronger community infrastructure, improving access to essential services, and driving sustainable development in India. By integrating social, environmental, and governance factors into its core operations, the Bank is not only creating long-term value for its stakeholders but also playing a pivotal role in supporting India’s sustainable growth.

Mumbai, India: ICICI Bank has announced the adoption of state-of-the-art technology to produce drinking water from atmospheric moisture as part of its commitment to enhancing the sustainability of its operations. The Bank has installed units to produce 8,000 litres of potable water a day from atmospheric moisture, benefitting 4,200 employees at five offices– one each in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Mumbai– and two in Chennai.

The units—known as Atmospheric Water Generators (AWGs)—utilise innovative technology to convert atmospheric moisture into 100% microbe-free, fresh and clean drinking water. The process of condensation transforms water vapour into droplets, which then undergo multiple filtration processes. Essential minerals are added at the end of the process. The AWGs can produce water throughout the year as they can operate in a wide range of ambient temperatures (18°C- 45°C) and relative humidity (25%- 100%).

Mr. Soumendra Mattagajasingh, Group Chief Human Resources Officer, ICICI Bank, said, “At ICICI Bank, we are committed to conducting our business sustainably and responsibly to reduce impact of our operations on the environment. Our strategy for environmental and ecological conservations is led by the 4R (reduce, reuse, recycle and responsible disposal) principle of environmental stewardship. It is estimated that the atmospheric moisture holds several times of the fresh water in all rivers on the planet. To leverage this renewable resource, we have installed the AWGs at our offices to convert water vapour into drinking water. This initiative reduces our dependence on packaged water, along with making good use of the atmospheric moisture.”

ICICI Bank continues to implement initiatives towards sustainability under the aegis of its ESG policy. The Bank has set a target of becoming carbon neutral in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by fiscal 2032. Over 180 sites of the Bank covering 4.95 million sq. ft. are Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) certified, as at March 31, 2024. The ICICI Service Centre at Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai was declared ‘Net Zero Waste’ certified in fiscal 2024. Further, the Bank quadrupled its renewable energy consumption to 75.73 million kWh in fiscal 2024, compared to the previous year. It also planted 3.7 million trees since fiscal 2022 and created water harvesting potential of 25.8 billion litres annually in schools and water bodies.

*Scope 1 emissions are direct greenhouse (GHG) emissions that occur from sources that are controlled or owned by an organization.

*Scope 2 emissions are indirect GHG emissions associated with the purchase of electricity, steam, heat, or cooling.

Mumbai: ICICI Bank has committed to becoming carbon neutral in Scope 1 and Scope 2 by fiscal 2032, as outlined in its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report for 2023-24. The report emphasizes the Bank’s diverse initiatives, including efforts to mitigate environmental impact, promote inclusive growth for underprivileged communities, adhere to responsible lending practices, and maintain high standards of corporate governance. These efforts reflect the Bank’s overarching commitment to building a sustainable future within its ESG framework.

Mr. Sandeep Batra, Executive Director at ICICI Bank, said, “It gives me immense pleasure to present the fifth annual Environmental, Social, and Governance report of ICICI Bank and share our ongoing commitments and achievements in the journey towards building a sustainable organisation. The key tenets of ‘Fair to Customer, Fair to Bank’ and ‘One Bank, One Team,’ with the right balance of risk and compliance principles, are helping deliver on our strategy of responsible growth.”

Environment

ICICI Bank’s environmental initiatives are marked by significant milestones. The Bank quadrupled its renewable energy consumption in its own operations, reaching 7.57 crore kWh in fiscal 2024 compared to 1.7 crore kWh in the previous year. Solar capacity installed across rural schools also saw notable growth, with 1,950 kW added in 770 schools in fiscal 2024, bringing the total solar capacity to 9,970 kW across 3,180 schools since fiscal 2022. These initiatives contributed to a 15.7% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions during fiscal 2024. Additionally, water conservation efforts led to an annual water harvesting capacity of 2580 crore liters, benefiting 6,800 schools and restoring 1,180 water bodies. The Bank has also planted 37 lakh trees since fiscal 2022, including 11 lakh in fiscal 2024, and saved 2.75 crore A4-sized papers through paper-saving initiatives.

The Bank’s long-term vision for sustainability is reflected in its plan to achieve carbon neutrality by fiscal 2032. Strengthened climate risk management is a critical focus, with ICICI Bank introducing sectoral analysis for hard-to-abate sectors, expanding its ESG risk assessment tool to cover more sectors, and integrating ESG evaluations into credit assessments for large corporate lending proposals above a certain threshold. As of March 31, 2024, ICICI Bank’s outstanding sustainable financing portfolio reached ₹68,528 crore, with the green financing component standing at ₹19,366 crore, of which approximately 50% is directed towards renewable energy projects.

“In fiscal 2024, we continued our efforts towards reducing the Bank’s emissions from our own operations by adopting more green power. The steady progress in integrating sustainable practices into our operations gives us the confidence to set the goal of becoming carbon neutral in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by fiscal 2032.”Mr Batra added

Social

On the social front, the Bank’s initiatives have significantly improved lives across rural India. Through its philanthropic arm, ICICI Foundation, the Bank has positively impacted over 1.28 crore individuals by providing affordable healthcare, supporting rural livelihoods, and driving societal development. Empowerment of women through Self-Help Groups (SHGs) has also been a priority, with 1 crore women supported since inception, 70 lakh of whom benefited through societal development interventions in fiscal 2024 alone.

ICICI Foundation’s healthcare initiatives in fiscal 2024 focused on enhancing curative care, including cancer care, cardiac care, eye care, and emergency services. These programs have provided treatment to over 21 lakh individuals across 500 hospitals, ensuring access to critical healthcare services in underprivileged regions. Additionally, the Foundation’s work in rural livelihood development has enabled more families to achieve financial stability through targeted programs like seed bank development, livestock management, and agricultural support.

Governance

ICICI Bank’s governance framework is designed to maintain regulatory compliance while upholding high standards of business ethics and risk management. The Bank’s governance structure includes ten committees to oversee critical operations, with independent directors chairing and constituting a majority in most of these committees. The Bank’s Personal Data Protection Standard further ensures the security of customer information, reinforcing trust and transparency in its operations.

In line with its governance principles, ICICI Bank has continued to integrate ESG considerations across its core activities. The Bank’s ESG risk assessment tool has been expanded to cover additional sectors, and ESG assessments are now integrated into credit evaluations for large corporate lending proposals. As of March 31, 2024, ICICI Bank’s outstanding sustainable financing portfolio grew to ₹68,528 crore, with a significant portion allocated to green financing.

The ICICI Foundation’s commitment to environmental sustainability is exemplified by its conservation projects, including work in 53 forest reserves across 19 states. These efforts, such as tree plantations, water structures, and solar installations, have directly benefited over 20,000 individuals. These comprehensive initiatives, coupled with robust governance practices, position ICICI Bank as a leader in integrating ESG principles into its operations.

The ESG Report and Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report for fiscal 2024 provide comprehensive insights into the Bank’s journey towards creating shared value for all stakeholders and driving long-term sustainable growth.

Mumbai, India: ICICI Bank today announced a commitment to contribute Rs 1,200 crore towards Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), a premier institution that runs cancer treatment and research centres across the country.

ICICI Bank will donate the money from its CSR funds to set up three new buildings spanning over a combined area of 7.5 lakh square feet and equip them with state-of-the-art machines at TMC’s centres at Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra, Mullanpur in Punjab and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

With the largest contribution from any institution to TMC, ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth (ICICI Foundation), the CSR arm of ICICI Bank, will implement the initiative, which is likely to be completed by 2027.

With modern equipment and specialised multidisciplinary teams, these new centres of excellence in oncology treatment will provide advanced and evidence based therapies to nearly 25,000 new patients a year, doubling the present capacity and providing a significant boost to the country’s cancer treatment infrastructure.

ICICI Foundation has signed an agreement with TMC to express this commitment. Mr. Sanjay Datta, President, ICICI Foundation and Dr. R. A. Badwe, Director, Tata Memorial Centre signed the agreement in the presence of Mr. Girish Chandra Chaturvedi, Chairman, ICICI Bank and Mr. Sandeep Batra, Executive Director, ICICI Bank.

Mr. Chaturvedi also inaugurated the ICICI MRI Facility today at Tata Memorial Hospital at Parel in Mumbai in the presence of Dr. Badwe and Mr. Batra. This facility is equipped with an advanced MRI machine supported by ICICI Foundation.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Girish Chandra Chaturvedi, Chairman, ICICI Bank, said: “ICICI Bank has a long-standing legacy of being in service of the nation. In line with this philosophy, ICICI Foundation has been working continuously to improve the well-being of citizens through its various initiatives in the areas of environmental conservation, skill development for sustainable livelihood, affordable healthcare and community development projects. Over the years, ICICI Foundation has planted over 2.6 million trees across the country, created capacity of harvesting 17.1 billion litres annually of rainwater at 5000 rural schools and watershed structures, implemented rooftop solar panel for rural schools, benefitted more than 2.9 million lives through skilling initiatives, with more than half being women. It has also benefitted over 6.5 million individuals through its social initiatives and over 1.5 million lives through its healthcare initiatives. Overall, ICICI Foundation has positively impacted more than 10.9 million beneficiaries through its various initiatives.

Today, we are committing Rs 1,200 crore for building three new blocks at TMC’s centres at Navi Mumbai, Mullanpur and Visakhapatnam by 2027. As part of our commitment towards promoting healthcare, this initiative will enhance comprehensive cancer care services in different regions of our country by providing patients access to advanced and latest cancer therapies. These new buildings will also service as regional referral centres and mitigate the need for patients to travel long distance to visit Tata Memorial Hospital at Parel in Mumbai.”

Adding on the occasion, Dr. R. A. Badwe, Director, Tata Memorial Centre, said, “We are extremely grateful to ICICI Foundation for embarking on one of the largest CSR initiatives to improve cancer care across the country. The infrastructure which is being added at the three hospitals of Tata Memorial Centre at Navi Mumbai, Visakhapatnam and Mullanpur will provide timely and high quality treatment to people in the region at highly subsidised costs. It is critical that advanced cancer care is delivered closer to home so that more people from the region benefit from accessing such therapies.

The radiation therapy block at ACTREC, Navi Mumbai will play a vital role in not only providing timely radiotherapy to a large number of patients, but will also be delivered with the most advanced techniques, both of which are critical for a successful outcome. Childhood and adult blood cancers are highly curable but require very intense therapies. The ICICI centres being established at Visakhapatnam and Mullanpur are dedicated children and blood cancer centres and will provide state-of-the-art multidisciplinary care. These centres will soon become regional hubs offering advanced therapies such as bone marrow transplant and cellular therapies to patients from the region.”

The salient features of ICICI Bank’s commitment are:

ICICI Foundation will set up an ‘ICICI Radiation Oncology Block’ at TMC’s Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research & Education in Cancer (ACTREC) at Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. This block will be equipped with state-of-the-art radiology facilities including CT scanner and MRT, new facility for outdoor patients, laboratories and radiotherapy facility for in-patients. All these together under one roof will help reduce waiting time significantly for investigations and hence enhance the quality of treatment.

ICICI Foundation will set up two ‘ICICI Paediatric and Haematological Oncology Block’ at TMC’s Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre at Mullanpur in Punjab and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. These centres will provide an array of advanced equipment and therapies, which are required to treat paediatric and haematological cancer. The facilities will include intense chemotherapy, bone marrow transplantation, radiation therapy and newer immunotherapies like CAR-T cell, which are available only at super specialised centres. For the convenience of in-patient care, the centres will also have dedicated beds, day care units, ICUs, MRI and CT – PET Scan facility as well as laboratories for advanced testing including genetics, which are critical for treating paediatric and haematological cancers. These centres will also become regional referral centres in the entire southern and northern parts of the country.
