महापौर रितू तावडे ने कहा कि ब्रेस्ट कैंसर की समय पर पहचान होने से मरीजों के इलाज की सफलता की संभावना काफी बढ़ जाती है। उन्होंने 30 वर्ष से अधिक आयु की सभी महिलाओं से नियमित स्वास्थ्य जांच कराने और किसी भी प्रकार के लक्षण दिखाई देने पर तुरंत डॉक्टर से संपर्क करने की अपील की।

जिन्हें जरूरत होगी, उनकी होगी मैमोग्राफी

शिविरों में जिन महिलाओं में ब्रेस्ट कैंसर की आशंका या अधिक जांच की जरूरत पाई गई, उन्हें मैमोग्राफी (Mammography) और आगे के उपचार के लिए BMC के अस्पतालों में भेजा गया। यह सुविधा KEM Hospital, लोकमान्य तिलक अस्पताल (सायन), नायर अस्पताल, टाटा मेमोरियल अस्पताल, अहिल्याबाई होल्कर कैंसर अस्पताल और CPAA सहित कई केंद्रों पर उपलब्ध है।

महिलाओं के स्वास्थ्य पर विशेष फोकस

BMC का कहना है कि इस अभियान का उद्देश्य केवल रिकॉर्ड बनाना नहीं, बल्कि महिलाओं में Breast Cancer Awareness बढ़ाना और शुरुआती चरण में बीमारी की पहचान सुनिश्चित करना है। अभियान में BMC के डॉक्टरों, नर्सों, आशा कार्यकर्ताओं, इंडियन मेडिकल एसोसिएशन (IMA) और विभिन्न चिकित्सा संस्थानों के विशेषज्ञों ने सक्रिय भागीदारी निभाई। विशेषज्ञों का मानना है कि नियमित जांच और समय पर उपचार से ब्रेस्ट कैंसर से होने वाली मौतों में काफी कमी लाई जा सकती है। ऐसे में मुंबई का यह अभियान देश के अन्य शहरों के लिए भी एक प्रेरणादायक मॉडल बन सकता है।
