While responding to comments made by Mohanan Kunnummal, Vice Chancellor of a university in Kerala, regarding the Vande Mataram controversy, Hariprasad stated that the RSS has historically failed to endorse national symbols, claiming they do not sing Vande Mataram or the national anthem. His statements follow recent allegations made against senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for purportedly disrupting the rendition of Vande Mataram.

The comments from the KPCC leader coincide with growing scrutiny over the legal registration status of the RSS, particularly after Priyank Kharge, Karnataka’s Home Minister, demanded clarification from the RSS on its financial and property dealings.

Registration Controversy and Political Tensions

The controversy surrounding the RSS escalated when B.L. Santhosh, the BJP’s National General Secretary (Organisation), asserted that the RSS has functioned without legal registration since its inception in 1925.
