Top 100 companies in India for CSR and Sustainability in 2022

India is the only country in the world with a legislature on mandatory CSR. The biggest corporations in the country are obligated to spend 2 per cent of their net profits under Corporate Social Responsibility, according to Company’s Act 2013.
As part of our series of CSR rankings, here is a glimpse of the CSR of the top 90 companies by market capitalisation in India.

1. Reliance Industries Limited

Reliance is India’s largest company by market capitalisation. It is a significant global player in the integrated energy value chain and has established a leadership position in the Retail and Digital Services business in India.
Reliance Industries Limited has been the top CSR spender in the country for the last several years. The Company spent Rs. 1186 crores on its CSR initiatives in FY2021-22, higher than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs. 1112 crores).
Reliance conducts most of its community outreach programs through Reliance Foundation, the CSR arm of the Reliance Group. Since the inception of its philanthropic activities, the company has touched the lives of over 5.75 crore individuals. The main areas of focus of CSR of Reliance Industries include Rural Transformation, Education, Disaster Response, Health, Sports for Development, and Arts, Culture and Heritage. The company also extended its aid to the nation to combat the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Reliance Foundation was accorded for its Corporate Leadership in ESG at The CSR Journal Excellence Awards 2021.

2. Tata Consultancy Services Limited

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), an IT services, consulting, and business solutions company that is part of the Tata Group, has been assisting many of the biggest companies in the world with their transformational journeys for more than 50 years. In FY2021-22, the company spent more on CSR than was required (Rs. 716 crores), spending a total of Rs. 727 crores.
The Company believes that all are born with equal potential but not equal opportunity. TCS’ vision is to empower people and communities, building self-reliance through purpose and technology while ensuring the values of fairness, equity and respect for human rights. The Company remains steadfast in its mission to connect people to opportunities in the digital economy while building equitable, inclusive pathways for all – especially women, youth and marginalised groups.
TCS, through various CSR initiatives and programs across the globe, continues to invest in addressing the most pressing needs of the community. The primary focus areas are education, skilling, employment and entrepreneurship, with a focus on bridging the opportunity gap for people and communities.
In FY 2022, TCS estimates that its global community initiatives reached more than 1.7 million beneficiaries, made possible by over 58,900 employees contributing over 700,000 hours of their volunteering time to support local community initiatives.

3. HDFC Bank Limited

HDFC Bank is India’s largest private sector bank by assets and the world’s 10th largest bank by market capitalisation as of April 2021. In FY2021-22, although the bank was obligated to spend Rs. 733.86 crores, it spent Rs. 736.01 crores on its CSR initiatives.
HDFC Bank conducts its community development initiatives under the umbrella CSR brand HDFC Parivartan. Parivartan aims to bring about a transformation in the communities in which the bank operates through multiple initiatives in the areas of Education, Skill training and livelihood enhancement, Health Care, Sports, Environmental Sustainability and Rural Development. Parivartan is also at the forefront of natural disaster response, successfully restoring infrastructure and rehabilitating communities. The Bank has touched the lives of over 9.6 crore people through its CSR initiatives under Parivartan.

4. ICICI Bank Limited

ICICI Bank is a leading private-sector bank in India. It is the fourth largest company in the country as per market capitalisation. In FY2021-22, the bank spent Rs. 266.62 crores for its CSR initiatives, more than it was obligated to spend (Rs. 259.61 crores).
ICICI Bank’s objective is to proactively support meaningful socio-economic development in India and enable a larger number of people to participate in and benefit from India’s economic progress. With an aim to work towards this through CSR, the Bank established ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth in 2008.
The ICICI Foundation concentrates a significant portion of its efforts in rural areas. Over time, the ICICI Foundation has come to understand the importance of identifying local needs at the grassroots level and developing initiatives or programmes for optimum impact. These initiatives could include tackling resource scarcity problems, developing the value chain for agricultural products, providing skill development in smart agricultural practices, and more.

5. Infosys Limited

In India, Infosys Limited was a pioneer in the CSR movement. The majority of its CSR projects have been carried out through the Infosys Foundation, which was founded in 1996—long before CSR was legislated in the country. In FY 2021-22, the company spent Rs. 344.91 crores for its CSR programmes. It was, however, obligated to spend Rs. 396.70 crores as per the company’s latest annual report.
The Infosys Foundation works to create a deep societal impact in India. Infosys CSR initiatives, delivered through the Foundation, focus on assistance with education, improving healthcare, addressing malnutrition and hunger, destitute care and rehabilitation, rural development, environmental sustainability and protection of national and historical heritage and promotion of art and culture.
Climate action has been a key ESG focus area for Infosys since 2008. In fiscal 2020, the company turned carbon neutral and has continued to be carbon neutral for three years in a row.
Infosys has pledged to net-zero emissions by 2040.

6. Hindustan Unilever Limited

Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) is a consumer goods company established in 1931. The company’s products are very popular in Indian households, making it the sixth-largest company in the country by market capitalisation. In FY2021-22, HUL was prescribed to spend Rs. 184.43 crores on its CSR. However, it spent Rs. 157.58 crores on it.
For HUL, CSR is not limited to philanthropy but encompasses holistic community development, institution-building and sustainability-related initiatives. The focus of the company’s CSR programs is on areas such as water conservation, health and hygiene, skill development, education, social advancement, gender equality, empowerment of women, ensuring environmental sustainability and rural development projects.

7. State Bank of India

Since 1973, long before India’s government mandated CSR, the State Bank of India has been actively engaged in CSR practices. Making a significant and demonstrable difference in the lives of economically, physically, and socially challenged communities across the nation is the main goal of the Bank’s CSR philosophy. In FY 2021–22, the bank invested Rs. 204.10 crores in CSR projects.
In an effort to provide “Service Beyond Banking,” the bank is actively striving to improve the socioeconomic conditions of marginalised and disadvantaged populations. This effort benefits underprivileged sections of society. SBI Foundation, the CSR division of SBI Bank, has launched several projects to spur India’s transformation by establishing an inclusive development paradigm. Healthcare, education, livelihood, skill development, environment protection of national heritage, and empowerment of women, youth, and senior citizens, among other areas, are the focus of the Bank’s CSR initiatives.

8. Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited

Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited also known as HDFC is a major player for housing finance in India. It also has a presence in banking, life and general insurance, asset management, venture capital and education loans. In FY 2021-22, the company spent Rs. 194.03 crores on its CSR initiatives, more than the amount it was obligated to spend, which stood at Rs. 190.53 crores.
During the last financial year, the Corporation’s CSR activities focused primarily on core sectors of education and healthcare, including COVID-19 health measures. Other sectors included environment, supporting persons with disability, community development and livelihoods. HDFC conducts most of its CSR initiatives through the H T Parekh Foundation, established in October 2012, to commemorate the legacy of its Founder Chairman, Shri H T Parekh.

9. Adani Enterprises Limited

Adani Enterprises Limited is the flagship entity of the Adani Group. The company spent Rs. 12.87 crores on CSR in FY2021-22.
The Adani Group’s core philosophy is ‘Nation Building’, driven by ‘Growth with Goodness’, its beacon for sustainable growth. The Adani Group is committed to widening its ESG footprint with an emphasis on climate protection and increasing community outreach through CSR programmes woven around sustainability, diversity and shared values.
Adani Enterprises Limited conducts its CSR programs through the Adani Foundation. With an experience of working with communities for more than 25 years, the Adani Foundation is increasingly focused on scaling integrated development efforts across India. It believes that everyone, regardless of who and where they are, deserves equitable access to opportunities and a fair chance to a better quality of life. Over the years, the Foundation has responded to society’s changing needs in alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – be it sustainable livelihoods, health and nutrition and education for all or addressing environmental concerns – with an enhanced focus on the empowerment of women. Today, the Foundation’s reach covers 3.7 million people in 2,409 villages across 16 states in India.

10. Bharti Airtel Limited

Although telecom company Bharti Airtel was under no obligation to spend on CSR activities this year (due to net losses), the company has contributed Rs. 16.43 crores for CSR. Bharti Airtel conducts its CSR initiatives through Bharti Foundation. The company believes that strengthening the education system is an essential investment in our country’s future and has pledged to contribute towards it.
For the last two decades, Bharti Foundation, in collaboration with multiple other organisations and the government, has taken it upon itself to bring transformation in the field of education for underprivileged children in the country. It aims to impact the lives of children and youth by proactively implementing and supporting programs in primary, secondary, and higher education as well as sanitation through its Satya Bharti School Program, Satya Bharti Quality Support Program, Higher Education Programs and Satya Bharti Abhiyan program. These also contribute to national programmes and government missions such as Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, National Nutrition Mission, and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

11. ITC Limited

ITC Limited, one of India’s leading multi-business conglomerates, ranks 11th on our list of top companies performing CSR and sustainable practices in India in 2022. The company spent Rs 351.13 crores on CSR initiatives in the FY2020-21, which is slightly lesser than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 354.27 crores).
ITC’s sustainability initiatives are driven by the belief that an organisation needs to serve a larger societal purpose keeping national priorities in focus. The Triple Bottom Line commitment of the Company to simultaneously build economic, social and environmental capital has orchestrated a symphony of efforts that address some of the most challenging societal issues including widespread poverty and environmental degradation.
The two most important stakeholders for ITC’s CSR projects are rural communities, primarily in the company’s agri-business areas and communities residing in close proximity to the company’s production units.
Keeping the above stakeholders in mind, the company has mainly focused on CSR activities for hygiene and sanitation, health and nutrition, waste management, poverty alleviation, livelihood enhancement projects like integrated animal husbandry programme, education and vocational training, financial empowerment of women, rural development (sustainable agriculture, knowledge empowerment, agri-extension / services) and providing relief to the poor and vulnerable sections of society who face severe disruption to their livelihoods due to disasters and calamities, directly or through government bodies.
 In the FY 2021-22, ITC was honoured with the first prize in the ‘Best Industry for CSR Activities’ category at the third National Water Awards by Ministry of Jal Shakti, which was presented by Ram Nath Kovind, President of India.

12. Bajaj Finance Limited

Bajaj Finance Limited BFL), a subsidiary of Bajaj Finserv Limited, is a deposit-taking Non-Banking Financial Company registered with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). It is primarily involved in the business of lending and acceptance of deposits. The company spent Rs 60.01 crores on CSR initiatives in FY2020-21, while it was obligated to spend Rs 120.89 crores as per the Company’s Act.
The vision and philosophy of late Jamnalal Bajaj, the founder of Bajaj Group, guide the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities of the group. Through its social investments, Bajaj Group addresses the needs of communities residing in the vicinity of its facilities by taking sustainable initiatives in the areas of health, education, environment conservation, infrastructure and community development, and response to natural calamities.
In FY 2022, the company has mainly focused largely on children’s healthcare and other projects. These include educational support for autistic and specially-abled children, maternal and child healthcare and nutrition, skill development and entrepreneurship among poor people in rural areas, nutrition support to underprivileged children afflicted with cancer, community mental health centre support for the pandemic period, integrated rural and urban development program, comprehensive tribal model village development program, medical support to underprivileged children with type 1 diabetes and other projects.

13. Adani Total Gas Ltd

Adani Total Gas is developing City Gas Distribution (CGD) Networks to supply Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to the Industrial, Commercial, Domestic (residential) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to the transport sector. The company has set up city gas distribution networks in Ahmedabad and Vadodara in Gujarat, Faridabad in Haryana and Khurja in Uttar Pradesh.
Adani Total Gas Ltd contributed Rs 10.27 Crores towards CSR activities in FY 2021-22 through the Adani Foundation, which is the CSR arm of the Adani group. This is more or less the same as what they were obligated to spend (Rs 10.26 crore) as per the Company’s Act.
The contribution was utilized towards a Biogas plant at Varanasi. Adani Foundation, in association with the Municipal Corporation in the Shahanshahpur area of Varanasi, has set up a Gobardhan Bio-Conversion Project (Biogas Plant). This initiative is focused on increasing the income of farmers in the surrounding regions. The biogas plant has the capacity to produce 90 metric tonnes per day. The plant also has a fertiliser research and development laboratory along with a training centre for the promotion of agricultural skills.

14. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.

Kotak Mahindra is one of India’s leading banking and financial services groups, offering a wide range of financial services. In February 2003, Kotak Mahindra Finance Ltd. (KMFL), the Group’s flagship company, received banking license from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. was born. W.E.F April 1, 2015, ING Vysya Bank Ltd. merged with Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. The Bank has four Strategic Business Units – Consumer Banking, Corporate Banking, Commercial Banking and Treasury, which cater to retail and corporate customers across urban and rural India.
For FY 2021-22, the mandated CSR expenditure for the Bank was Rs 161.11 crore while the actual CSR expenditure was Rs 65.93 crore.
Kotak Mahindra Bank believes in positively contributing to the economic, environmental and social well-being of communities through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) agenda. Its mission is to create a lasting value for communities by promoting and supporting education and other interventions for the underprivileged, encouraging employee volunteering, and supporting Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and other institutions with financial and other resources to collectively deliver community initiatives.
In FY 2021-22, Kotak’s key CSR focus has been relief and rehabilitation during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic; education and livelihood programmes like Digital Learning Solutions (DLS), Kotak Shiksha Nidhi (KSN) and Project Excel through Kotak Mahindra Group’s primary CSR partner, Kotak Education foundation and projects with other partner organisations; healthcare projects; programmes for environment and sustainable development; sports, financial literacy and investor education among others.

15. Adani Green Energy Ltd

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) is a renewable company in India, with a current project portfolio of 20,434 MW. The Adani Group company develops, builds, owns, operates and maintains utility-scale grid-connected solar and wind farm projects. The electricity generated is supplied to central and state government entities and government-backed corporations.
For FY 2021-22, the mandated CSR expenditure for the company was Rs 2.76 crore while the actual CSR expenditure was Rs 2.78 crore. Adani Green Energy Ltd. (AGEL) contributed towards CSR activities in FY 2021-22 through Adani Foundation.
The Adani Group’s core philosophy is ‘Nation Building’, driven by ‘Growth with Goodness’, its beacon for sustainable growth. The Adani Group is committed to widen its ESG footprint with an emphasis on climate protection and increasing community outreach through CSR programmes woven around sustainability, diversity and shared values.
Their major areas of focus have been Education (adopting government primary schools under Project Utthan), Sustainable livelihood development, Community infrastructure development, Support to coaching of athletes for Olympic and Support to Save the Soil programme among others.
The company claims that they have touched 3.17 million lives through their CSR initiatives.
Adani Foundation was honoured by the Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari at The CSR Journal Excellence Awards 2021 under the ‘Special Commendation’ category.

16. Larsen & Toubro Ltd.

Larsen & Turbo was founded in the year 1938 by Henning Holck-Larsen and Soren Kristian Toubro. The company offers a wide range of services including construction, thereby contributing to the development of the country.
Total spending on CSR in FY 2021-22 was Rs. 135.68 crores which is more than the mandated 129.54 crores.
Long before CSR was mandated by the Companies Act 2013, L&T was providing health and educational services to the underprivileged around its campuses. Today, L&T’s CSR programmes are well-established, focusing on areas that align with the global and national matrices of development: water & sanitation, health, education and skill-building.
Apart from spending on CSR-oriented projects covering water and sanitation, natural resource conservation, climate change mitigation and adoption of renewable forms of energy, L&T also responded to the pandemic by assembling 38 PSA oxygen generation units and transporting those across to different parts of the country which were worst affected. The company claims that they have cumulatively benefitted 1.1 million people with their CSR initiatives in FY 2021-22.
Larsen & Toubro Ltd. was honoured by the Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari at The CSR Journal Excellence Awards 2021 under the ‘Education and Skill Training’ category.

17. Adani Transmission Ltd

Adani Transmission Limited is a private sector power transmission company in India with a presence across the western, northern and central regions of India. Adani Group’s journey in the transmission sector started in 2006, well before Adani Transmission Limited (ATL) was formally established. This was necessitated by need to evacuate power from Adani’s Mundra thermal power plant.
The company spent Rs 0.26 crores on CSR initiatives in the FY2021-22, which is exactly the same as what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 0.26 crores).
The company works with their implementation partner, Adani Foundation, on CSR programmes focused on education, community health, sustainable livelihoods and rural infrastructure development. Provision of better facilities for children in school and anaganwadis in Bhadai, Kheri Talwana, Ajwa, Saiyad Kherli villages of Gujarat and Rajasthan, construction of bus stands in Bhadai village, Mandvi, streetlight installation in Gokulpura and Piprali villages are some of their popular CSR initiatives.
Adani Foundation was honoured by the Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari at The CSR Journal Excellence Awards 2021 under the ‘Special Commendation’ category.

18. Asian Paints Ltd.

Established in 1942, Asian Paints Ltd. was set up as a partnership firm by four friends. Over the course of 25 years, Asian Paints is one of India’s leading paints companies. Asian Paints manufactures a wide range of paints for decorative and industrial use and also offers wall coverings, water proofing, adhesives and services under its portfolio. The company is also present in the home improvement and decor segment and offers bath and kitchen products.  They also offer lightings, furnishings and furniture in its portfolio.  In the Health and Hygiene segment, Asian Paints offers range of sanitizers and surface disinfectants.
The company spent Rs 71.01 crores on CSR initiatives in the FY2021-22, which is slightly higher than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 70.77 crores).
Corporate social responsibility at Asian Paints is about a sustainable business model, which looks after the interests of all stakeholders. Sustainability drives the actions for conserving water and optimising energy usage at every level.
The CSR initiatives of Asian Paints aim towards inclusive development of the communities largely around the vicinity of their registered office and plants. It mostly focuses on areas like promoting education and special education, promoting livelihood projects, creating employability, enhancing dignity of the painter community, enabling access to quality primary healthcare services, water conservation, replenishment and recharge, and disaster relief measures.

19. Axis Bank Ltd.

Axis Bank is one of the first new generation private sector banks to have begun operations in 1994. The Bank offers the entire spectrum of financial services to customer segments covering Large and Mid-Corporates, MSME, Agriculture and Retail Businesses. The Bank has a large footprint of 4,758 domestic branches (including extension counters) with 10,990 ATMs & 5,972 cash recyclers spread across the country as of 31st March 2022.
The company spent Rs 113.37 crores on CSR initiatives in the FY2021-22, which is lesser than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 138.06 crores).
The bank focuses its CSR initiatives mostly in creating sustainable livelihood, promoting education and skills development, creating awareness amongst the public at large on public interest topics including financial literacy, facilitating and providing access to formal banking channels for the unbanked and under-banked, promoting environmental sustainability, and supporting health and sanitation initiatives.
The bank’s CSR arm Axis Bank Foundation (ABF) has committed to achieving the ‘Mission 2 Million’ commitment by 2025 under their Sustainable Livelihoods programme. Under its Mission 2 Million, the foundation has committed to supporting 2 million households by 2025, and has adopted a progressive and knowledge‑based approach that is closely aligned to India’s developmental priorities. A significant milestone was achieved in December 2021, when they crossed the halfway mark of supporting 1 million households under the commitment, claims their Annual Report for FY 2021-22.

20. HCL Technologies Ltd.

HCL was founded in 1976 as a tech startup by eight entrepreneurs. Their 8-bit microcomputer hit the market in 1978. In 1999, HCL entered the software services space through the formation of HCL Technologies. In 2016, the company launched new business offerings across AI, Automation, IoT, cybersecurity, cloud and digital. HCL Technologies commits to achieving net-zero carbon by 2040.
The company drives its corporate social responsibility agenda through its CSR arm, HCL Foundation, a public charitable trust. In the FY2021-22, HCL spent Rs 216.33 crores on CSR initiatives, which is slightly more than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 216 crores).
In the present day, HCL Foundation drives five flagship programs – HCL Samuday for integrated rural development; HCL Grant to empower non-profits for community-led rural upliftment; HCL Uday to address developmental issues in urban areas; Clean Noida to transform into one of the cleanest cities in India; and HCL Harit for environmental action.
In addition, various other special initiatives are undertaken by the HCL Foundation. These include – Power of One, Sports for Change, the HCL Foundation Academy, My E-Haat, and response to humanitarian crises and disaster mitigation. These programs are designed to bring about lasting positive impact on people and the planet through long-term sustainable programs that focus on education, health and sanitation, skill development and livelihood, environment, and disaster risk reduction and response. Child protective strategies, inclusion, and gender diversity remain central in all initiatives of the HCL Foundation, ensuring equitable development and opportunities for all.

21. Avenue Supermarts Ltd.

Avenue Supermarts Ltd (ASL) is a retailing company, operating a chain of supermarkets under the brand of DMart. These supermarkets offer a range of basic home décor, utility, appliances, grocery, frozen food, fruits & vegetables, garments, and personal care products. The company has presence across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi and National Capital Region, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, and Rajasthan. D-Mart is headquartered in Thane, Maharashtra, India.
In the FY2021-22, the company spent Rs 35.59 crores on CSR initiatives, which is slightly more than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 34.65 crores).
The key objective of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme is to foster better quality of life and create equal opportunities for supporting the economically and socially disadvantaged in our country.
As part of their CSR commitments, ASL mostly focuses on providing support to the public education system. In the past two years, the company has also enabled virtual systems to support remote learning. In addition, the company supports a few reputed external institutions in the fields of education, healthcare and nutrition.
‘School Excellence Programme’ is ASL’s flagship intervention in the field of primary education. The mission of this project is to work with Government/Municipal/Zilla Parishad Schools (Public Schools) to improve the quality of education and infrastructure at these schools.
‘Our programme supported students from 6 Municipal Corporations of Mumbai Metropolitan Region (Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Panvel, Mira-Bhayander and Kalyan-Dombivali). This year we have additionally increased our reach within the MMR Region (Bhiwandi) and also extended our coverage to two new cities in Maharashtra (Pune and Aurangabad). We cover more than 290 Government/Municipal/ Zilla Parishad Schools (Public Schools) across these cities/towns positively impacting more than 125,000 students,’ ASL states in their Annual Report for the said financial year.

22. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.

India’s largest passenger car company Maruti Suzuki India was formed in 1981 as the result of a joint venture between the Indian Government and Japanese firm Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC). Today, it is the largest subsidiary of SMC in both volume and sales, making it a profitable joint venture to say the least. The public limited company has manufacturing units at Gurugram and Manesar (Haryana). Another subsidiary of SMC born much later in 2017 is Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private Limited (SMG) which is headquartered in Gujarat.
In the FY2021-22, the company spent Rs 100. 7 crores on CSR initiatives, which is more than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 96.127 crores).
The CSR of Maruti Suzuki India seeks to engage with the local community through village administration bodies (Panchayat) and village leaders to understand their diverse perspectives on local problems and find solutions to some of the most pressing issues. Based on the local context, the community development initiatives are focused on improving health, education, water and sanitation, and common community infrastructure.
Maruti Suzuki India through its CSR program has been supporting the government and local community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiatives include setting up of oxygen generation plants, providing ventilators, oxygen cylinders and protective medical clothing, and supporting the local community with food, water and dry ration.
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd was honoured by the Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari at The CSR Journal Excellence Awards 2021 under the ‘Education and Skill Training’ category.

23. Bajaj Finserv Ltd.

Bajaj Finserv Ltd is the holding company for the businesses dealing with financial services of the Bajaj group. Bajaj Finserv Ltd was born in 2007 after its demerger from Bajaj Auto Ltd with the aim of focusing on financial services. The company mainly focuses on lending, protection and savings.
In the FY2021-22, the company spent Rs 0.45 crores on CSR initiatives, which is roughly the same as what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 0.44 crores).
‘During FY2022, Bajaj Group joined forces with the local government authorities to conduct a large-scale inoculation drives for our communities in Pune and Aurangabad. And I am happy to share that more than 1 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccines were administered during those drives,’ Chairman and MD Sanjiv Bajaj mentions in the Annual Report.
CSR of Bajaj Group mostly focuses on healthcare treatment for children, spreading awareness in  remote rural areas about preventive healthcare, immunisation needs, prenatal and post-natal care for mothers and newborns, inculcating proper oral healthcare, basic hygiene and dietary habits for children. Their community-based livelihood and skilling programmes are focused towards rural, tribal and migrant populations. Bajaj Group’s child education programmes aim to make quality education available to all children. They also address issues of child protection and preventing crime against children. ‘Bajaj Finserv BEYOND’, an employability initiative aims to upskill the first-generation graduates from smaller towns and cities.

24. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.

Founded in the year 1983, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Sun Pharma) is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world with presence in Western Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and China among others. It is currently the #1 pharmaceutical company in India manufacturing and marketing a range of pharmaceutical formulations covering a broad spectrum of chronic and acute therapies. The company offers tablets, capsules, injectables, inhalers, ointments, creams, and liquids for neuro-psychiatry, cardiology, gastroenterology, anti-infectives, diabetology, oncology, ophthalmology, dermatology, urology, nephrology and respiratory among others.
In the FY2021-22, the company spent Rs 19.86 crores on CSR initiatives, which is exactly what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act.
CSR at Sun Pharma is focused on supporting the needy and underprivileged communities, the priority areas being health, education, drinking water and sanitation. Their Malaria Elimination Demonstration Project (MEDP) is a Public-Private partnership between the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Government of Madhya Pradesh (GoMP), and the Foundation for Disease Elimination and Control of India (FDEC India). FDEC India was established by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. as a not-for-profit entity. Culminated in 2021, the MEDP contributed in the reduction of indigenous malaria cases in villages of the Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh.
The company’s Mobile Healthcare Units (MHUs) deliver primary healthcare services to people located around areas close to their manufacturing plants and other establishments in the states of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Sikkim.

25. Titan Company Limited

The Titan Company Limited (Titan) began in 1984 as a joint venture between the TATA Group and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO). It is currently one of the largest integrated watch manufacturers in the world.
In the FY2021-22, the company spent Rs 35.42 crores on CSR initiatives, which is slightly more than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (35.01) crores.
The CSR policy of the company focuses on education, especially of the underprivileged girl child, skill development for the underprivileged and support for arts, crafts and Indian heritage. While most education programmes have a large focus on the girl child, People with Disabilities are also not ignored. Several CSR programmes are being run with the help of NGOs across the four priority states of Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Karnataka and Sikkim.
In 2022, Titan Company announced the ‘Go Green’ initiative with the aim of planting over one lakh trees in India. Under this, a series of plantation drives will be hosted to encourage employees and their families to plant trees in partnership with the NGO, ‘BiotaSoil Foundation’, Tata Motors and Tata Power.

26. Wipro Ltd.

Wipro Limited is a leading technology services and consulting company. Wipro was born as a commodity-based vegetable oil-maker in pre-independence India in the aftermath of World War II in 1945. From a traditional, family-run business, it grew into a professional, diversified, global corporation. Founder Chairman Azim Premji grew Wipro into the global IT giant it is today, and transferred a majority of the ownership of the company to the Azim Premji Foundation which works to serve some of the most disadvantaged populations in the world.
In the FY2021-22, the company spent Rs 221.6 crores on CSR initiatives, which is way more than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 154.7 crores).
There are two main focus areas for all the Wipro CSR activities: one is to make the company more sustainable in line with the triple bottom line approach; the other is to work towards a just, inclusive and sustainable society. The main focus areas of Wipro corporate social responsibility are education, ecology, primary health care and disaster response.
Wipro earthian is the flagship CSR programme that intertwines Education and Sustainability at the school and college levels. It has two components: the pan India outreach programme and the CEP (Continuous Engagement Programme). In fact, it’s our country’s biggest sustainability education CSR initiative.
Wipro supports education of street children, kids in slums, children of migrant workers, and those affected by HIV and also takes care of their nutrition, enrolment and counselling of their parents. Santoor Women’s Scholarship has proved successful for focussing on girl child education in three states that rank low on education parameters.

27. Ultratech Cement Ltd.

UltraTech Cement Limited is the cement flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group. UltraTech is the largest manufacturer of grey cement, ready mix concrete (RMC) and white cement in India. It is the third largest cement producer in the world, excluding China. The Company’s business operations span UAE, Bahrain, Sri Lanka and India.
In FY2021-22, the company spent Rs 96.4 crores on CSR initiatives, which is exactly what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act.
The company undertakes its CSR initiatives through its CSR arm – Aditya Birla Center for Community Initiatives and Rural Development. The foundation is engaged in working towards the betterment of 2500 villages across India. The foundation works towards water availability, spreading awareness about hygiene and sanitation through various methods, including street plays. The Foundation has set up a large number of toilets in villages near the company’s plants across India.
The company also engages in improving the education infrastructure in the villages in order to ensure equitable educational opportunities for children of rural areas. The company has also carried out vocational training programs for unskilled village people in order to help them earn a livelihood.

28. Nestlé India Ltd.

In 1912, the company began trading as The Nestlé Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company (Export) Limited, importing and selling finished products in the Indian market. After India’s independence in 1947, Nestlé formed a company in India and set up its first factory in 1961 at Moga, Punjab, to develop the milk economy. NESTLÉ India manufactures products under popular brands such as Nescafé, Maggi, Milkybar, Kit Kat and Milkmaid, to name a few.
In FY2020-21, the company spent Rs 53.4 crores on CSR initiatives, which is slightly more than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 52.75 crores).
The Nestlé Healthy Kids Programme started over a decade back and continued to scale up with University partners and NGO partner Magic Bus India Foundation. In 2021,  the company expanded the programme to Ladakh. The programme has also expanded in terms of the curriculum, incorporating plastic waste management.
Nestlé India, in association with MAMTA Health Institute for Mother and Child, recently completed seven years of Project Jagriti, an initiative touching the lives of beneficiaries across 8 states and union territories. The programme was rolled out in 2015 and has been reaching out to vulnerable communities to create awareness on health, nutrition and hygiene practices.
The company launched Project ‘Serve Safe Food’ in 2016 with National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI) to provide training to street food vendors and enable them to adopt hygienic practices that improve food quality voluntarily.

29. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. (APSEZ)

APSEZ is a leading integrated logistics player with a focus on speed, customer centricity and sustainable value creation. APSEZ represents a large network of ports, with India’s largest SEZ at Mundra. APSEZ Port Business is integral to its Logistics Business and is India’s largest private port operator with a presence across 12 locations.
In FY2021-22, the company spent Rs 34.29 crores on CSR initiatives, which is slightly more than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 33.89 crores).
Headquartered in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Adani Group’s core philosophy is ‘Nation Building’, driven by ‘Growth with Goodness’, its beacon for sustainable growth. The Adani Group is committed to widen its ESG footprint with an emphasis on climate protection and increasing community outreach through CSR programmes woven around sustainability, diversity and shared values.
APSEZ discharges its CSR obligations, either directly or through the Adani Foundation, the social arm of the Adani Group. APSEZ-supported Adani Foundation is engaged in the creation of rural infrastructure such as ponds, wells and rainwater harvesting structures, training and skilling programs for locals to improve their employability, fighting hunger that includes distribution of food packets and community kitchens in Mundra (Gujarat), Dhamra (Odisha) and Vizhinjam (Kerala), Mobile health care service, Community-based interventions to fight malnutrition and anaemia, primary education in cost-free as well as subsidised schools run across India.
Adani Foundation was honoured by the Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari at The CSR Journal Excellence Awards 2021 under the ‘Special Commendation’ category.

30. Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC)

ONGC is the largest crude oil and natural gas Company in India, contributing around 71 per cent to Indian domestic production. Crude oil is used to produce petroleum products like Petrol, Diesel, Kerosene, Naphtha, and Cooking Gas LPG.
In FY2021-22, the company spent Rs 472.292 crores on CSR initiatives, which is way more than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 436.015 crores).
ONGC aims to take up CSR Activities for promoting healthy environment and environmental sustainability with a view to mitigating the impacts of its operations on the environment and tries to focus its CSR efforts towards improving the lives of its surrounding communities by broadly addressing the focus areas of education, healthcare, nutrition and drinking water in its onshore areas of operation and development of coastal community and marine and coastal ecology in offshore areas of operation.
As per directives of NitiAyog, ONGC has identified 20 Aspiration districts and is committed to raising the social and economic condition of these districts by implementing strategic CSR projects. In recent years, the company has undertaken major CSR projects in areas like Health Care, Education, Skill Development, Swachh Bharat and Rural Development.

31. JSW Steel

JSW Steel is India’s leading and one of the world’s most efficient integrated steelmakers. The Company, led by Sajjan Jindal, spent Rs. 200.34 crores on its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects during the fiscal year 2021-22, which is more than the mandated amount of Rs. 199.41 crores, that it was obligated to spend. It has aligned its CSR programs to the key areas of health and nutrition, education and learning, agri- initiatives, livelihood, sanitation, water conservation and augmentation, biodiversity promotion, skill enhancement, and art, culture, and sports.
In the last four financial years, the Company has consistently increased its share of CSR expenditure. The CSR spending has increased every year from Rs. 53 crores in FY 2017-18 to Rs. 176.73 crores in FY 2020-21.
In line with the Group’s philosophy of ‘Better Everyday’, JSW Steel has strived to deliver on its responsibilities towards its communities, people, and society at large. The Company carries out its social and out-of-fence environmental initiatives through JSW Foundation.

32. NTPC Limited

NTPC has been spending more than the prescribed amount per the Company’s Act for its CSR initiatives each year. In FY2021-22, the company was obligated to spend Rs. 281.80 Crores on CSR. However, it spent Rs. 356.72 Crores, which is much higher.
CSR has been synonymous with NTPC’s core business of power generation. Since its inception, the Company has been very sensitive to the needs of the neighbouring community and persons whose livelihood has been affected due to the establishment of a power plant. Considering this the company has been undertaking its community development initiatives, majorly at the local sites of its operations. However, considering inclusive growth & environment sustainability, some of the activities are also undertaken by it in different parts of the country to supplement governmental efforts. NTPC conducts a majority of its CSR initiatives through the NTPC Foundation.
During FY 2021-22, NTPC’s CSR programs have benefitted about 450 villages and more than 400 schools at different locations. The Company’s CSR initiatives have touched the lives of around 14 lakh people generally residing at remote locations in various parts of the country in one or the other way.

33. Mahindra and Mahindra Limited

Mahindra and Mahindra Limited, the flagship company of the Mahindra Group, is a mobility products and farm solutions provider. The company has grown rapidly since its inception in 1947.
Mahindra focuses its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives on driving positive and sustainable change in building resilient communities. Its core purpose states, “We will challenge conventional thinking and, through innovative use of all our resources, drive positive change in the lives of our stakeholders and communities across the world, to enable them to Rise”. It is amply evident that CSR is integral to and at the core of the company’s philosophy.
Mahindra and Mahindra Limited has been diligent in its CSR spending. Since FY 2014-15, when the companies were mandated to spend two per cent of their net profits on CSR, Mahindra and Mahindra has been spending the prescribed amount for CSR without fail. In FY 2021-22, the company spent Rs. 97.07 crores on its CSR projects, more than Rs. 96.84 crores that it was obligated to spend.
The company’s CSR work is directed mainly at the development of girls, youth and farmers who are supported through initiatives in education, health and the environment. Its Project Prerna was awarded at The CSR Journal Excellence Awards 2021, in the category ‘Women Empowerment and Child Welfare’.
Project Nanhi Kali, which translates to a ‘little bud’ in Hindi, is the flagship project of the company. The project supports the education of underprivileged girls in India. Designed to support girls from low-income families to complete ten years of formal schooling, the CSR initiative has impacted the lives of over 450,000 girls (called Nanhi Kalis) from underserved communities across the country.
Currently, the project supports the education of 1,74,681 Nanhi Kalis across 6,001 academic support centres in 9 states. The project provides 360-degree support to girls from Class 1 to 10, including two hours of free after-school remedial classes every day and an annual school supplies kit to enable them to attend school with dignity. In addition to this, the project has extended its support to 78,437 girls in secondary schools by enabling them access to digital tablets, which are pre-loaded with smart educational content. The Nanhi Kali team also works to sensitise parents and communities on the importance of educating girls and becoming their collective guardians. In FY22, Project Nanhi Kali was the Runner-up in the international BRICS SDG Awards in the category of SDG 5: Gender Equality.

34. Power Grid Corporation of India

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) is a Schedule ‘A’, ‘Maharatna’ Public Sector Enterprise of the government. It is India’s largest Electric Power Transmission Utility. POWERGRID spent Rs. 271.13 crores on its CSR initiatives in the last financial year, more than Rs. 257.07 crores that it was obligated to spend according to the CSR law.
POWERGRID has been contributing to the society through its CSR interventions even before the CSR Act, 2013 came into force. The company has aligned with 15 out of 17 Sustainable Development Goals launched by the United Nations in 2015. POWERGRID adopts a 360° project approach for the implementation of its CSR interventions, thereby ensuring sustainable implementation of its CSR projects for the targeted beneficiaries.
In the last financial year, PowerGrid was conferred with CSR WORLD LEADER 2022 and International CSR Excellence Award 2022 for its CSR initiative of Improving Rural Livelihoods and Protecting Environment through farmer-centric Integrated Watershed Management presented by The Green Organisation in London, UK.

35. Coal India Limited (CIL)

Coal India Limited is an Indian central public sector undertaking under the ownership of the Ministry of Coal, Government of India. Coal India is one of the largest CSR spending entities in the country. The Company’s CSR programs are focused in the areas of healthcare, education and rural development.
In FY22, the Company, including its subsidiaries, spent Rs. 548.98 crores under its corporate social responsibility during FY’22, which is 19.53% higher than the statutory requirement of Rs. 459.27 crores.
With the continued focus on COVID-19 relief measures, CIL spent 44.5 per cent of the year’s CSR expenditure, Rs. 244 crores, on this account. Apart from this, its flagship project, Thalassemia Bal Sewa Yojana, ran successfully in FY 2021-22 with a total CSR spend of Rs. 3.21 cr. during the year on cure and better management of Thalassemia and Aplastic anaemia of eligible patients.
In addition, the Company spent a total of Rs. 74 lakhs was made on several activities like renovation of Old Age Homes, procurement and handing over of utility equipment in the home for old age and orphanages, empowerment of women living as live in a couple of the tribes of Jharkhand, Rehabilitation of Children with disabilities in Bhopal and school for specially-abled at Dhanbad, Jharkhand.

36. Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL)

Hindustan Zinc is the world’s 6th largest producer of silver and India’s only integrated producer of silver, lead and zinc. HZL is a subsidiary of Vedanta Limited, which owns a 64.9% stake in the company, while the Government of India retains a 29.5% stake.
In FY2021-22, HZL was obligated to spend Rs. 169.14 crores on CSR, as per the Company’s act. The company exceeded this limit by spending Rs. 173.38 crores for CSR in the last financial year.
Through its CSR initiatives, HZL reached out to 377 villages through COVID-19 initiatives, focussed on life, livelihood, oxygen, and treatment facilities. Further, it benefited over 1.4 million beneficiaries through long-term CSR initiatives and through COVID-19 initiatives in FY 2021-22.
The company was accorded The CSR Journal Excellence Awards 2021 for the promotion of Sports and Women & Child Welfare.

37. Tata Motors Limited

Tata Motors Limited (TML) is one of India’s biggest automobile manufacturing companies with an extensive range of integrated, smart and e-mobility solutions in its portfolio. Part of the multi-national conglomerate, the Tata Group, it has a diversified portfolio of commercial, passenger, and luxury vehicles. There was no statutory requirement for TML to spend on CSR in FY 2020-21, but it spent Rs. 23.7 crores for the same.
CSR at Tata Motors is underpinned by ‘More from Less for More People’ philosophy which implies striving to achieve greater impacts, outcomes and outputs of CSR projects and programmes by judicious investment and utilisation of financial and human resources, engaging in like-minded stakeholder partnerships for higher outreach benefitting more lives.
In FY21, the CSR initiatives of Tata Motors achieved the accomplishment of reaching across all 28 states of the country. The company extended support to Covid-19 relief efforts by providing assistance to over 1.5 lakh people, including migrants, daily wage earners, those who lost their livelihood, and those who were left stranded or forced to seek shelter in transit camps. In addition, it ensured that food, masks and sanitisers, along with information kits on precautions to be taken for safety, health and hygiene, were arranged for thousands of truck drivers, the unsung frontline heroes who played a stellar role in ensuring that the wheels of the nation kept running with seamless transportation of supplies, even as the entire nation was in a lockdown.
In the meantime, TML’s flagship programmes to address some of India’s most pressing developmental challenges in the areas of Health (Aarogya), Education (Vidyadhanam), Employability (Kaushalya) and Environment (Vasudhara), positively impacted over 7.5 lakh lives in the previous financial year.

38. Tata Steel Limited

Established in India as Asia’s first integrated private steel company in 1907, Tata Steel today is one of the most profitable and lowest-cost producers of steel in the world, with captive iron ore mines and collieries located near the company’s manufacturing facilities in Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar. Tata Steel serves communities, particularly the most marginalised and voiceless sections of society, through its CSR. The company was mandated to spend Rs. 266.57 crores on its CSR in the last financial year. It exceeded this requirement by spending Rs. 405.97 crores on its social development programs.
The CSR initiatives of Tata Steel focus on education, health, water, livelihood, and rural and urban infrastructure and are in alignment with key focus areas of the Tata Group. The Company also undertakes community-centric interventions in the areas of sports, disaster relief, environment and ethnicity. Through its CSR initiatives, Tata Steel was able to reach and benefit about 2.87 million people in the last financial year. Of them, over 1.05 million people were CSR beneficiaries of non-COVID initiatives.

39. Pidilite Industries Limited

Pidilite Industries Limited is the dominant and leading adhesives company in India. The Company is committed to sustainable development through economic, social and environmental betterment to improve the quality of life of the local communities and their well-being. The Company, over the years, has been engaging in various social and community initiatives towards agriculture, animal husbandry, health, education, woman empowerment and water conservation etc. These initiatives, undertaken directly by the Company and through various organisations, are spread across the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan.
In FY22 the company was obligated to spend Rs. 25.37 crores on its community development initiatives. It ended up spending 23.52 crores in the last financial year, carrying forward the balance amount to the next year.
The Company has been continuously supporting Horticulture and agriculture through collaboration with experts and institutions.
During the year, the Company has assisted in the formation of 35 new Farmer Clubs (covering additional 1,400 farmers) for relevant crops, including Cotton, Groundnut, Onion etc. Till now, there are over 615 Farmer Clubs, covering over 16,400 farmers. Data of the farmers have been geotagged with area mapping on a digital portal, thereby helping the adoption of best practices viz soil management, intercropping, drip irrigation, etc. which has enabled to provide specific recommendations to the farmers about increasing the yield and reduction in the cost of cultivation. About 65% of farmers actively used these recommendations and benefited through a 10% decrease in the cost of cultivation for cotton and groundnut crops.
In the area of fruit and vegetable farming, the Company has taken the initiative to develop 36 one-acre wadis along with shade nets to replicate vegetable and fruit crops. 24 wadis are in the developing stage, which will be demonstrated on the farmers’ own lands. The average additional income earned by farmers through this intervention is ` 1.10 Lacs.
During 2021-22, the Company helped to form, nurture, and develop 68 new Self-Help Groups (SHGs) – Mahila Mandals in Bhavnagar, Talaja and Amreli districts, Gujarat. More than 580 additional women became members of these SHGs. With this, the total number of SHGs reached 638 with a strength of more than 6900 women members. These SHGs serve as a platform for women to gain financial freedom, as an option to have a source of credit that can be a stimulus for their income generation activity, and as a buffer to absorb various household financial crises.
The Company has continued its support towards water management activities (check dams, ponds, etc.) with Narmada, Water Resources, Water Supply, and Kalpsar Department of Government of Gujarat in the PPP model. In 2021–2022, 66 check dams, the deepening of 25 ponds and 82 farm ponds were completed.

40. LTIMindtree Limited

LTI Mindtree Limited is a multinational information technology services and consulting company. It is a subsidiary of Larsen and Toubro Group after the merger of Mindtree Limited and LTI. In FY2021-22, the company made an expenditure of Rs. 17.1 crore on its CSR initiatives, more than the statutory requirement of Rs. 16.8 crores. Through its CSR programs, the company made an impact on the lives of 159,062 people.
According to its annual report, social responsibility has been ingrained into the very mission of Mindtree since its inception and has evolved to impact society in multiple ways. The company’s social responsibility manifests itself through Mindtree Foundation-led CSR initiatives and people-led initiatives in volunteering. Having started with a non-strategic approach to CSR, Mindtree has progressed to build rigorous systems, methods, and measurements.

41. HDFC Life Insurance Company Limited

HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd. is a long-term life insurance provider in India. The company spent Rs. 17.4 crores on its CSR initiatives in FY22, more than the amount it was mandated to spend, Rs. 12.97 crores. Through its CSR programs, the company was able to reach 4.6 lakh beneficiaries in the last financial year.
The Company’s CSR initiatives are undertaken under the umbrella programme of ‘Swabhimaan’. These initiatives empower people across age groups to move from a vicious cycle of disadvantage to a virtuous cycle of opportunity. The Company has undertaken projects in various areas, including Education, Livelihood, Health, Environmental Sustainability, COVID-19 response, Sanitation, etc.

42. SBI Life Insurance Company Limited

SBI Life is a life insurance company which was started as a joint venture between the State Bank of India and French financial institution BNP Paribas Cardif. Corporate Social Responsibility forms an integral part of the Company’s corporate principles and business philosophy. As a Company with a strong sense of values and commitment, SBI Life believes that profitability must go hand in hand with a sense of responsibility towards employees, stakeholders and the society.
The company spent Rs. 26.72 crores on its CSR initiatives in FY22, more than the amount it was mandated to spend, Rs. 24.71 crores. With respect to its CSR programs, SBI Life primarily works towards the thematic areas of Education & Healthcare, with focus on women, children and marginalised sections of society as far as possible.

43. Adani Power Limited

Adani Power Limited (APL) is India’s largest private-sector thermal power producer. APL’s operating capacity comprises thermal power plants in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh and a solar power unit in Gujarat. The Company has incurred operational as well as net Losses during the three immediately preceding financial years, and hence the compulsory CSR spent during the financial year under review is not applicable. However, the company spent Rs. 15 lakhs on CSR initiatives in the last financial year.
The Company conducts its CSR initiatives through Adani Foundation. With an experience of working with communities for more than 25 years, the Adani Foundation is increasingly focused on scaling integrated development across India. It believes that everyone, regardless of who and where, deserves equitable access to opportunities and a fair chance to a better life quality. Over the years, the Foundation has responded to society’s changing needs in alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – be it sustainable livelihoods, health and nutrition, and education for all or addressing environmental concerns – with an enhanced focus on women’s empowerment.

44. Vedanta Limited

Vedanta Limited not only supports agriculture and rural development but also has a host of CSR initiatives focusing on themes such as water, energy and carbon management. The group has adopted advanced technologies to optimise water consumption, enhance energy productivity, mitigate climate change and safeguard diversity through their group companies including Hindustan Zinc (HZL), Cairn Oil & Gas, Electrosteels Steel, Sesa Iron Ore Business and Vedanta Aluminium.
During FY2022, Vedanta was mandated to spend an amount of Rs. 37.5 crores on CSR according to the Companys Act. However, the Company exceeded the amount and spent over Rs. 138.12 crores on social development activities, spread across our core impact areas of education, health, sustainable livelihoods, women empowerment, sports and culture, environment and community development. Its flagship CSR initiative for women and children has touched a new milestone with the establishment of 3200+ Nand Ghars.
During FY22, the company was able to touch the lives of over 4.6 million people through its CSR initiatives.

45. Grasim Industries Limited

Grasim Industries Limited spent Rs. 42.47 crores on its CSR programs, more than the statutory amount of Rs. 35.97 crores. The company’s CSR campaigns were able to benefit over 16,89,600 people in 9 states and 311 villages.
The company’s CSR initiatives focus on promoting Girl child literacy, school enrolment of girls students, scholarships to girl students, felicitating scholar girls students, digital literacy for girls, creating excellent ambience in the schools, education materials support to girls, support to girls hostels and Kasturba Balika Vidyalaya, promoting self-help groups for rural women, capacity building of rural women, entrepreneurship development among rural women, Adolescent health awareness programme for women, multi-speciality medical camps for women, construction of toilets for girls students in the schools, providing safe drinking water etc.

46. Ambuja Cements Limited

Ambuja Cement is one of the leading players in the Indian cement industry and is trusted for its tailor-made product portfolio, suitable for diverse Indian climatic conditions. The company met the CSR obligation laid on it by spending the amount of Rs. 64.41 crores, which is 3.52% against the mandated 2% of the average net profit of last three years as required under section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013.
The Company primarily allocates CSR implementation through its social development arm ACF (Ambuja Cement Foundation), working mainly with communities around the manufacturing sites across 11 states. Through need based assessments and active community engagement and participation, ACF works on thrust areas across sites addressing the social and economic issues of the communities. The core areas include Water Resource Management, Agro-based as well as skill based livelihood development, Healthcare, Women Empowerment and Education.

47. Indian Oil

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IndianOil) is the country’s largest integrated and diversified energy company. IndianOil’s presence across the entire hydrocarbon value chain allows it to create sustainable business outcomes. As a ‘Maharatna’ company, it addresses the multiple energy needs of the nation.
During the year, as against the CSR budget of Rs. 204.77 crores (2% of the average profit of the previous three years, Rs. 323.14 crores minus excess spent in the previous year Rs. 118.37 crores), the Company spent a higher sum of Rs. 298.29 crores to ensure continuity in the planned CSR activities including many flagship projects resulting in a carryover of Rs. 93.52 crores for setting off in succeeding years.
During the year, the Company undertook various CSR initiatives to overcome the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic like Installation of Medical grade Oxygen Generation Units; supply of medical grade liquid oxygen to various hospitals in Delhi, Haryana and Punjab; procurement of oxygen concentrators & cylinders; contributions to the PM CARES Fund, etc., in addition to various other CSR activities.

48. Britannia Industries Limited

Britannia Industries Limited is a food and beverage company with a rich legacy of over a century. It was established in the year 1892 at a starting capital of a mere Rs. 295 in a small house in Kolkata.
Britannia CSR makes a difference at the community level through various interventions addressing undernutrition and malnutrition. Research and development in nutrition is a major component of Britannia’s corporate social responsibility. IN FY2021-22, the company met its obligatory requirement of CSR by spending Rs. 38.57 crores which is the exact 2 per cent of the company’s average net profit of last 3 financial years.
The company undertakes most of its CSR initiatives through Britannia Nutrition Foundation and Sir Ness Wadia Foundation.

49. Siemens Limited

Siemens is a German multinational conglomerate dealing with products and technology in the energy, industry and healthcare sectors. As a technology company, Siemens is driven by the aspiration to address the world ́s most profound challenges by leveraging the convergence of digitalisation and sustainability.
Based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and its core competencies, Siemens in India has defined 3 strategic focus areas for its Corporate Social Responsibility: Education, Social and Environment. The company spent Rs. 27.45 crores on its CSR initiatives in FY2020-21, more than the prescribed amount of Rs. 27.2 crores
Corporate Citizenship leverages Siemens competencies in electrification and automation to deliver clean drinking water, pumping solutions for irrigation & better healthcare. With Project Asha, Siemens addresses the severe development deficit in rural areas. Started in 2012, from a remote village in Mokhada, the project has spread across 72 villages in Mokhada, Palghar District and Aurangabad of Maharashtra impacting over 500,000 lives.
Based on the German dual education system, Siemens Scholarship Programme hones youth to become industry-ready engineers, and launch a sustainable career in engineering, R&D or manufacturing. The programme offers four years scholarship to meritorious engineering students from economically disadvantaged families. The internships, trainings, projects and mentorships provided by Siemens acquaints these bright minds with the dynamics of the industry, thereby leading to their holistic development. The Dual VET programme at Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) is based on the German Apprenticeship model. The model employs project-based learning interlocked with theory, workshops, and On-The-Job training in Industries, augmented with soft skills for holistic development.

50. Bajaj Auto Limited

Bajaj Group believes that the true and full measure of growth, success and progress lies beyond balance sheets or conventional economic indices. It is best reflected in the difference that business and industry make to the lives of people.
Baja Auto spent Rs. 75.66 crores on its CSR initiatives in FY 2022, as against the prescribed amount of Rs. 126.66 crores. Through its social investments, Bajaj Group addresses the needs of communities residing in the vicinity of its facilities, taking sustainable initiatives in the areas of health, education, environment conservation, infrastructure and community development, and response to natural calamities.

51. Dabur India Ltd.

Dabur India Ltd is one of India’s leading FMCG Companies operating for over 133 years. Dabur is among India’s most popular Ayurvedic and natural health care Companies. Dabur today operates in key consumer product categories like hair care, oral care, health care, skin care, home care and foods.
Dabur India’s FMCG portfolio includes brands like Dabur Chyawanprash, Dabur Honey, Dabur Honitus, Dabur Lal Tail and Dabur Pudin Hara in the Healthcare category; Dabur Amla, Vatika and Dabur Red Paste in the Personal care space; and Réal in the Food & Beverages category.
In the FY2021-22, the company spent Rs 31.16 crores on CSR initiatives, which is slightly more than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs. 30.24 crores).
Talking about CSR, Dabur India believes in ensuring socio-economic development of the community through need-based initiatives for the poor and deprived sections of the society in order to help them to become self-reliant and building their future.
The company is also working towards ensuring environmental sustainability through ecological conservation and regeneration, protection & re-growth of endangered plant species, and promoting biodiversity.
In December, 2022, Dabur India Limited announced that they have joined hands with the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) to roll out a mega initiative aimed at improving trees, fruits, medicinal and aromatic plantation practices on farms, outside forests areas, using agroforestry across Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Assam and Tamil Nadu.
The initiative is expected to play a critical role in increasing the tree cover outside demarcated forest areas and on farmlands, will go a long way towards helping India to achieve climate mitigation targets in the forestry sector, while also supporting sustainable livelihoods for communities.
In the above financial year, the company also focused on supporting migrant workers, marginalized communities and frontline Corona Warriors, helping communities in their fight against hunger, poverty & malnutrition, Promotion of Education especially among children, women, elderly and the differently abled, health Care programmes and programmes for employment enhancing vocational skills development and women empowerment.
Dabur India Ltd was honoured by the Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari at The CSR Journal Excellence Awards 2021 for their contribution towards environmental sustainability.

52. Hindalco Industries Ltd.

Hindalco Industries Limited is the metals flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group, a leading company for aluminium and copper. In India, the company’s aluminium units across the country encompass bauxite mining, alumina refining, coal mining, captive power plants, aluminium smelting, downstream rolling, extrusions and foils. Today, Hindalco holds a position among the global aluminium majors as an integrated producer and has presence in 9 countries apart from India.
In the FY2021-22, the company spent Rs 37.55 crores on CSR initiatives, which is way more than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs. 24.12 crores).
The company aims to actively contribute to the social and economic development of the underserved communities, lifting the burden of poverty, and helping bring in inclusive growth in sync with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Hindalco’s CSR strategy to engage, uplift and empower communities in alignment with the 10 SDGs – No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Quality Education, Good Health & Wellbeing, Clean Water & Sanitation, Affordable and Clean Energy, Decent Work & Economic Growth, Gender Equality, Reduced Inequalities & Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure.
The company has focused on 10 identified aspirational districts of Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand through their CSR projects.
In the abovementioned year, the company mainly focused on Educational support programmes, vocational and technical education, preventive and curative healthcare programmes, Natural Resource conservation and non-conventional energy, livelihood and awareness programmes.
The company has recently set up ‘Kosala Livelihood and Social Foundation’, which aims to generate sustainable livelihood opportunities for reelers, weavers and artisans. Hindalco claims in its annual report that they were able to generate a total revenue of Rs 45 Lakh from this project for FY2021-22, generating sustainable livelihood opportunities for 110 beneficiaries (reelers, weavers and artisans), with an income of Rs 10 Lakhs, and also trained 46 women as reelers under this project. The aim is to mobilise more artisans, firming up the organisation on the ground, and launching Kosala as a global brand.

53. Tech Mahindra Ltd.

Tech Mahindra is a part of the Mahindra Group, founded in 1945, one of the largest and most admired multinational federation of companies having presence over 100 countries. It enjoys a leadership position in farm equipment, utility vehicles, information technology and financial services in India and is the world’s largest tractor company by volume. It has a strong presence in renewable energy, agriculture, logistics, hospitality and real estate.
The Mahindra Group has a clear focus on leading ESG globally, enabling rural prosperity and enhancing urban living, with a goal to drive positive change in the lives of communities and stakeholders to enable them to Rise. Tech Mahindra claims to be the only Indian company in the world to receive the HRH The Prince of Wales’ Terra Carta Seal for its commitment to creating a sustainable future.
In the FY2021-22, the company claims that they have spent more than 2% of the average net profit (as prescribed by the government) on the implementation of CSR projects and activities across Indiaa total of Rs 108.60 crores.
The company boasts of a wide-range of CSR activities in areas of education, mental health awareness and welfare and skill development. CSR initiatives are mainly carried out by Tech Mahindra Foundation and Mahindra Educational Institutions, Section 8 (erstwhile Section 25) Companies promoted by the Company. Tech Mahindra Foundation essentially works with children, youth and teachers from disadvantaged urban communities in India, with a special focus on women and persons with disabilities.
Mahindra and Mahindra Limited (Auto, Farm Equipment and Agri Sector) was honoured by the Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari at The CSR Journal Excellence Awards 2021 for their contribution towards environmental sustainability.

54. DLF Ltd.

Delhi Land & Finance (DLF) was founded in 1946 by Chaudhary Raghvendra Singh. DLF started with the creation of 22 urban colonies in Delhi. In 1985, the company expanded into the then-unknown region of Gurugram, creating exceptional living and working spaces for the new Indian global professionals. Today, DLF is the largest publicly listed real estate company in India, with residential, commercial, and retail properties in 15 states and 24 cities.
In the FY 2021-22, the company spent Rs 15.90 crores on CSR initiatives, which is exactly what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act. In addition, 11 subsidiaries/ joint ventures of the company have also contributed an amount of Rs 34.45 crore for CSR activities.
The DLF Group implements its CSR initiatives primarily through DLF Foundation, which works along with the Government, civil society and communities to resolve critical development challenges faced by the communities. Its programmes are aligned with the immediate ongoing priorities of the Government on CSR.
The Company has been contributing continuously towards building sustainable capacities and creating resources for the marginalised people near its operational areas. DLF Foundation addresses Social Development Projects with an integrated holistic approach to ensure that its programmes impact critical aspects of the lives of the underserved in the areas of Education, Healthcare, Environment Preservation and Promotion of Sports, as also for Animal Welfare.
In the said FY, CSR activities of DLF Foundation were focused on COVID-19 Relief, Covid care centres, vaccination, medical equipment donations, health screening camps, mental health, promotion of sports, educate, empower and groom underprivileged children by sponsoring their education in quality schools and environmental sustainability.

55. Indusind Bank Ltd.

Established in 1994 by Srichand P Hinduja, the name ‘IndusInd’ Bank was inspired by the Indus Valley Civilisation – one of the greatest cultural example of a combination of innovation with sound business and trade practices. IndusInd Bank is a universal Bank with a widespread banking footprint with over 2.5 crore customers, over 5,000 distribution points and nearly 2,000 branches across the country. With ‘Sustainability’ at the core, the bank offers a wide array of products and services for individuals and corporates including microfinance, personal loans, personal and commercial vehicles loans, credit cards, SME loans. IBL is also a preferred banking partner for various Government entities, PSUs and corporates.
In the FY 2021-22, the bank spent Rs 15.90 crores on CSR initiatives, which is exactly what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act.
The bank’s CSR programs guided by the CSR policy are implemented with a mission of designing sustainable initiatives that empower and benefit marginalised and weaker sections of society, high-risk and high-stressed communities. The bank claims to have touched more than 2-million lives through several need-based initiatives across the nation in FY2021-22.
A Holistic Rural Development Flagship Program was designed and launched in two Aspirational Districts (as per NITI Aayog). The program is planned to integrate community involvement, collaborations at district, state and centre, the convergence of government schemes, technology & innovation and data-backed assessment, and will be implemented over a period of 10 years.
The Bank’s core sustainability philosophy of ‘Good Ecology is Good Economics’ is extended beyond the fence through CSR initiatives on environmental conservation. Projects on Water Stewardship are carried out in rural water-stressed landscapes. Along with water security, these interventions translate into income enhancement, community institution strengthening and climate resilience. Other activities like restoration of water bodies (lakes and drains), afforestation, and renewable energy solutions for hospitals were also undertaken.
The bank has also worked towards betterment in areas of education, sports, healthcare, skilling and livelihood, and Covid relief in the said FY.

56. Bank of Baroda

Bank of Baroda is an Indian state-owned International banking and financial services company headquartered in Vadodara, Gujarat, India. Founded in 1908 by Sir Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III, Bank of Baroda is one of the leading commercial banks in India. At 63.97% stake, it is majorly owned by the Government of India. The Bank serves its global customer base spread across 17 countries in five continents.
The bank spent Rs 8.29 crores on CSR initiatives, which is only 1% of the published profit of the bank for the previous year, as part of its CSR for the year ended March 31, 2022.
Talking about CSR initiatives, the bank has 64 Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) in 10 States/UTs across the country to impart skill development training to the youth of rural and semi urban areas for generating self-employment. The Bank has also set up 85 Financial Literacy Centres (FLCs) in 12 States/UTs which provide financial counselling services and education to the people in rural, semi-urban and urban areas about various financial products and services available from the formal financial sector.
As per RBI directives, the bank has also set up 93 Centres for Financial Literacy (CFLs) spread over 8 states and a Union Territory that are aimed at imparting financial literacy in tribal and backward blocks through innovative and participatory approach.
The bank has also rolled out a scholarship scheme for girl student school toppers of class X and XII studying in Government schools in 9 Aspirational Districts in the states of Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
As a part of bank’s commitment towards protection of environment, under Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, the bank has implemented a pilot of planting a tree against each Auto loan/Housing loan disbursement.

57. Godrej Consumer Products Ltd.

Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) is a consumer goods company under the Godrej Group. Established in 1897, Godrej is one of India’s oldest brands having presence in consumer goods, real estate, appliances, agriculture and many other businesses.
In the FY 2021-22, the GCPL spent Rs 30.46 crores on CSR initiatives, which is exactly what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act.
GCPL is committed to the Godrej Group’s ‘Good & Green’ vision of creating a more inclusive and greener India. The GCPL CSR policy focuses on addressing the critical social, environmental, and economic needs of the marginalised and less privileged sections of society.
In the said FY, the company focused on areas like Covid relief and community development, livelihood recovery and revival programmes, enabling access to entitlements, providing access to vaccine, employability and livelihood, elimination of vector-borne endemic diseases, waste management and several community development initiatives.
The focus of the above CSR activities has been on states like Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Puducherry, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand.

58. Eicher Motors Ltd.

Eicher Motors Limited (EML) is the parent of Royal Enfield, the global leader in middleweight motorcycles. World’s oldest motorcycle brand, Royal Enfield has made its distinctive motorcycles since 1901. Royal Enfield operates in India, and over 60 countries around the world with modern development facilities in Leicestershire, UK and Chennai, India.
In addition to motorcycles, Eicher has a joint venture with Sweden’s AB Volvo – Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV) – has pioneered modernisation of commercial vehicles in India and other developing countries. VECV has a complete range of trucks and buses from 4.9-55 tonnes, and its integrated manufacturing plant in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh is the global hub for medium duty five- and eight-litre engines for Volvo Group.
In the FY 2021-22, the company spent Rs 27.74 crores on CSR initiatives, which is way less than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 52.71 crores). The Company undertakes its Corporate Social Responsibility programme under the aegis of EGF (Eicher Group Foundation) for ensuring maximum impact.
In the said FY, the CSR activities mainly focused on improving employment opportunities for school dropouts and unemployed youth by skill building, working for visual and hearing impaired people, education, rural development, environmental sustainability, healthcare, Royal Enfield Centre for Skill Development, Holistic Village Development of community, eradicating hunger, poverty and malnutrition and promoting road safety in states/UTs of Tamil Nadu, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana, Goa, Karnataka, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

59. Varun Beverages Ltd

VBL is a part of the RJ Corp group, a diversified business conglomerate with interests in beverages, quick-service restaurants, dairy and healthcare. Varun Beverages Ltd is a leading global franchise (outside US) of carbonated soft drinks and non-carbonated beverages sold under trademarks owned by PepsiCo and a key player in the beverage industry.
The company produces and distributes a wide range of CSDs, as well as a large selection of NCBs, including packaged drinking water. The company has been associated with PepsiCo since the 1990s. VBL has 30 manufacturing plants in India and 6 manufacturing plants in countries like Nepal, Sri Lanka, Morocco, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
In the FY 2021, the company spent Rs 6.754 crores on CSR initiatives, which is exactly it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act. CSR activities are performed by RJ Foundation, which is the company’s philanthropic arm. In the above FY, CSR activities were mostly focused on Healthcare, Education, Environmental Sustainability and Rural Development.

60. Divi’s Laboratories Ltd.

Established in 1990, Divi’s is a leading manufacturer of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients. Divi’s, a Public Limited Company was established in Hyderabad with two manufacturing units and is among the top pharmaceuticals companies in India in the present day.
In the FY 2021-22, the company spent Rs 4,213 lakhs on CSR initiatives, which is more than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 3,920 lakhs).
In the said FY, Divi’s has mostly focused its CSR activities on promoting education, animal welfare, women empowerment, Livelihood Enhancement Projects, supporting the Divyang or differently abled, clean drinking water and sanitation, promoting sports in rural areas and environment sustainability.
The places which have received their CSR benefits include Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram Districts in Andhra Pradesh, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri District in Telangana and New Delhi.
Divi’s has been financially supporting the development of model villages in areas where it operates with focus on community development, education & skill development, animal welfare, nutrition, health, safe drinking water and sanitation.
The company has built two model villages in India – Panthangi, a village in Choutuppal Mandal of Nalgonda district in Telangana and Chippada village in Bheemunipatnam Mandal of Visakhapatnam district in Andhra Pradesh.

61. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is a state-owned aerospace and defence company. Headquartered in Bengaluru, HAL is one of the oldest and largest aerospace and defence manufacturers in the world.
In FY2021-22, the company spent Rs. 78.27 crores on its CSR activities and deposited Rs. 3 crores in the unspent CSR account against its mandatory CSR budget of Rs. 81 crores.
HAL has been undertaking CSR Projects in the local areas of its operations with a view to improving the quality of life of the socially & economically backward groups and marginalised & weaker sections of society. The main areas of focus of the company’s community development initiatives are infrastructure development, education, drinking water, river rejuvenation, environmental conservation, healthcare, sanitation, renewable energy, skill development, and sports.
HAL has constructed Bitumen/cement concrete/Water Bound Macadam (WBM) roads, with rainwater drains and culverts in rural areas. As part of its endeavour to encourage education, HAL has been providing school essentials like Desks, Benches, Computers, Audio Visual Equipment and stationery items like Books, Pens etc., to the children studying in the Government Schools in the villages. Further, based on the need and availability of Funds, School Buildings, Class Rooms, Labs, Kitchens, Store Rooms, Dining Halls, Dormitories etc., are also constructed at select places. The company has completed the rejuvenation project of the dried-up River Basin of River Kumudavathi in Bangalore Rural and Ramnagara District of Karnataka State, benefitting around 170 villages in 11 mini watershed areas.
The Company was accorded third prize in “National Water Awards” – 2020-21 under the “Best Industry for CSR activities” category instituted by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation.

62. Cipla Limited

Established in 1935, Cipla is a global pharmaceutical company that is committed to making medicines accessible and affordable. Cipla is the third-largest pharma company in India and the third-largest in the private pharma market of South Africa.
‘Caring for Life’ has been at the forefront of Cipla’s business philosophy and remains the principal purpose of doing business. This philosophy is seamlessly integrated into Cipla’s people, products and processes and is the foundation and underlying objective of the Corporate Social Responsibility Policy.
Cipla carries out the majority of its CSR initiatives through Cipla Foundation. The key areas of focus of the company’s CSR programmes include health, education, skilling, environmental sustainability, contributing to the government funds for socio-economic development, research and development, rural development, and disaster management.
The company was obligated to spend Rs. 52.92 crores on its CSR initiatives in FY2021-22, according to the Company’s Act 2013. The company exceeded its mandatory CSR budget by spending Rs. 53.25 crores in the last financial year.

63. Shree Cement Limited

Shree Cement Limited, incorporated in 1979, is India’s third-largest cement group today, with operations spread across the country. The company spent Rs. 57.54 crores on CSR in FY 2022, more than the mandatory amount of Rs. 52.12 Crore.
The Company’s CSR initiatives are focused on thematic areas such as Healthcare, Water supply and sanitation, Environmental Protection, Art and culture, Rural Development and sports, Education, Gender equality and Women Empowerment, Sustainable livelihood, and Support to veterans of armed forces and war widows. Through its CSR projects the company supports SDGs No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health and wellbeing, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Clean Water and Sanitation, and Decent work and economic development.
The company’s CSR programmes have impacted the lives of over 6.27 lakh people across the country in FY2021-22.

64. Adani Wilmar Limited

Adani Wilmar Limited is a food fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company, a subsidiary of Adani Group. The Company spent Rs. 13 crores on CSR activities in FY2021-22, more than the mandatory amount of Rs. 12.94 crores that it was obligated to spend according to the Company’s Act, 2013.
The company conducts its CSR initiatives through Adani Foundation. Its flagship project Fortune SuPoshan is a community-based project for addressing the issues of malnutrition and anaemia among children 0-5 years of age and reducing malnutrition and anaemia in adolescent girls and pregnant/ lactating mothers as well as women in the reproductive age group. This project adopts a life cycle approach with an equal emphasis on curative and preventive interventions for behavioural change. A ‘SuPoshan Sangini’ is a village health volunteer who plays a pivotal role in spreading awareness and referrals and promoting behavioural change among the target groups to achieve the project objectives. Presently, 453 trained Sanginis are working with 2,66,821 households in 1,065 villages and 129 slums covering 12 States. Collectively, the Sanginis have reached out to 1,06,646 malnourished children, 84,734 adolescent girls and 2,20,675 women. In total, the project has so far impacted the lives of over 1.5 million people across the country.
Apart from this, the Company’s CSR initiatives are focused in the areas of education, health, sustainable livelihoods, community infrastructure development, and environment and biodiversity conservation.

65. InterGlobe Aviation Limited

InterGlobe Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. is undertaking its business activities under the brand name IndiGo. IndiGo is a low-cost airline in India. It is the largest airline, with 57 per cent of the domestic market share as of October 2022.
IndiGo Reach is the CSR arm of the company through which it undertakes programmes and processes to contribute towards the goal of sustainable development for communities. The company’s CSR programs are focused around SDGs: quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, educed inequalities, responsible consumption and production, climate action, and partnerships for goals.
IndiGo’s education initiatives for underprivileged children reach out to children across multiple states with a high degree of concentration in rural areas and some children in the urban slums. These initiatives are centred around providing access to quality education and nurturing excellence. In FY22, these initiatives helped retain ver 31,000 children in schools and ensured their continued learning in spite of the pandemic.
In FY22, the company was not obligated to spend any amount for CSR. However, it spent Rs. 4.4 lakhs for the same.

66. SBI Cards and Payment Services Limited

SBI Cards & Payment Services Ltd., previously known as SBI Cards & Payment Services Private Limited, is a pure play credit card company and payment solutions provider.
The Company, in line with its parent company, SBI Bank, contributes significantly to the growth and development of the country through its CSR initiatives. IN FY2022, the company focused its CSR programs on strengthening public infrastructure, benefiting thousands of needy individuals, including youth, women, elderly and differently-abled individuals in areas of Education, Health, Disaster Management, Environment Sustainability & Skill Development. More than 20,000 families were impacted through the company’s education and skill development CSR projects. Further the company was able to reach more than 300,000 people through its healthcare and disaster management projects. The company’s waste management practices caused avoidance of about 100MT of waste per month from being burnt, littered, and dumped in landfill and water bodies.
During FY2022, the company spent Rs. 37.6 crores on its CSR projects, more than Rs. 37.55 crores that it was obligated to spend, according to the Company’s Act 2013.

67. Tata Consumer Products Limited

Part of the prestigious Tata Group, Tata Consumer is a consumer products company with offerings across food, beverages and Out-of-Home Retail, and is home to diverse iconic and well-regarded brands. Tata Consumer has a brand presence in over 40 countries.
Through its CSR initiatives, the company works for the betterment of communities, enabling access to clean drinking water and nutrition as well as creating local employment opportunities.
The Company provides livelihood and skill development to differently-abled youths through the TGBL foundation, a separate Trust. TGBL foundation collaborates with Srishti Trust, which enables learning and economic opportunities for these youth through its training and rehabilitation initiatives in Munnar, Kerala. Srishti Trust comprises six units – DARE, Nisarga (strawberry unit), Athulya (manufactures handmade paper and paper products), The Deli (confectionery unit), The Garden Project (fruits, vegetables and flowers cultivation) and Aranya Naturals (natural dye and special effects). Aranya Natural was selected for the Nari Shakti Purashkar – the highest Civilian honour for Indian women in 2018. Aranya Naturals celebrated its 25th year of enterprise with an international conference on ‘Natural Dyes’ in Munnar in Feb 2020. The Company also supports Unnati (a Bangalore-based NGO), a vocational training and transformation program which helps underprivileged youth to secure stable employment.
Project Jalodari is the water management program by Tata Consumer Products that has the aim to create sustainable water sources, raise awareness and build capacities for water and sanitation in the communities. It is a multi-sectoral intervention that integrates livelihood with water and food security, sustainable agriculture, sustainable forestry and renewable energy into the developmental paradigm of the community.
Providing affordable healthcare has always been a key community intervention for TCPL. The Referral Hospital and Research Centre (RHRC) Chubwa in Assam provides free or subsidised medical facilities to the general population and the tea communities.
The company spent Rs. 13.54 crores on its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in FY2021-22, more than Rs. 13.32 crores that it was obligated to spend in the said time period. The company’s CSR programs positively impacted the lives of 8 lakh beneficiaries in FY22.

68. Bharat Electronics Limited

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) is a government-run arms manufacturer established by the Ministry of Defence. The company was obligated to spend Rs. 53.29 crores on CSR in FY2021-22. However, it ended up spending Rs. 30.72 crores, carrying forward the balance amount to the next year.
BEL, through its CSR programmes, contributes to SDGs: Good Health and Well-being, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, industry, innovation and infrastructure, reduced inequalities and life on land.
BEL is facilitating a conducive learning environment in 35 remote Government Schools. Nearly 15,000 rural students from economically weak sections of society will benefit from it. The company helped in improving health infrastructure in Government Hospitals and sanitation facilities in more than 125 Government Schools which will benefit the rural population of around 15 Lakh and 17,000 students, respectively. BEL undertook developmental and sustainability interventions in 9 adopted villages which will benefit around 1.25 Lakh rural population.
Through its CSR initiatives, the company has benefitted the lives of over 10 lakh beneficiaries in total.

69. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited

Contribution towards society and working for the welfare of the underprivileged is ingrained within BPCL corporate values. Even before the CSR mandate came into effect, BPCL has contributed significantly to the development of communities nationwide. BPCL CSR has consistently contributed towards the goal of achieving Sustainable Development and made significant progress in the core thrust areas of Education, Skill Development, Water Conservation, Community Development and Health & Hygiene.
Under the umbrella of “enabling quality education”, BPCL focuses on imparting holistic education, preferably through the usage of technology, apart from catering to adequate infrastructural facilities, access to education and improvement of education systems, which are clearly measurable in impact assessments. The gamut of interventions, mainly for the needy and underprivileged population, should lead to improved literacy and education in its true sense, which can enable the target group to aspire for higher education and, eventually, sustainable. The company’s water conservation efforts are closely linked to engaging communities within their own ecosystems & making them self-reliant. This also includes making available safe drinking water, technology for the creation of infrastructure related to freshwater generation, meaningful utilisation of the water resources, regeneration of water bodies and such allied interventions.
The Company spent a total of Rs. 137.78 crores on its CSR initiatives, while it was obligated to spend Rs. 183.74 crores for it in FY2021-22.

70. Havells India Limited

Fast Moving Electrical Goods company Havells is big on the notion of “giving back to the land”. Havells CSR ethos is motivated by the belief that small steps lead to meaningful change in people’s lives “Chhote Kadam Badi Soch”. This belief has led to targeted efforts by the organisation for the communities revolving around six strong pillars of Health and Nutrition, Education, Skill and Development, Sanitation, Environment, Heritage Conservation and other humanitarian causes.
The company spent Rs. 22.88 crores on its CSR programmes in FY2021-22, more than Rs. 22.16 crores that it was obligated to spend as per Company’s Act, 2013.
The company entered into an MoU with Madhya Pradesh’s Van Vikas Nigam Limited till 2027, under which we will be planting four lakh trees on an annual basis. Regular monitoring, together with the availability of water and the active involvement of the local administration and the panchayat, will ensure a close to 80% survival rate of the trees.
In association with the Government of Rajasthan, the company has developed an eight-bed state-of-the-art modern ICU ward in Alwar, Rajasthan. The ward was inaugurated in December 2021.
The QRG Foundation provides transport and related services for the distribution of dry food rations (wheat and rice) to over 400 government schools, directly benefiting about 7 lakh students in Alwar, supported by the Rajasthan government and school authorities. Following the break caused by the pandemic, the initiative was restarted on March 9, 2022, with the consent of the local administration. Providing mid-day meals is a flagship project of the Company, which is conducted by the QRG Foundation at Alwar. The project addresses both the nutrition and education needs of children.

71. Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd.

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd started its journey in 1984. Their products and services include Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), generics, branded generics, biosimilars and over-the-counter pharmaceutical products around the world. The company focuses on the areas of gastro-enterology, cardiovascular, diabetology, oncology, pain management and dermatology.
In the FY 2022, the company spent Rs 35.5 crores on CSR initiatives, which is less than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs. 44.7 crores).
The company implements CSR programs in the areas of education, skilling and livelihood, health and environmental sustainability through partners and local NGOs for marginalized sections of communities.
In the said FY, the company has spent towards promoting healthcare including preventive healthcare, conserving tigers in the Eastern Ghats of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, quality education support serving low income community and School Improvement Programme (SIP) in Government Schools of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd has committed towards reducing carbon emissions. They have committed to use 100% renewable power by 2030, practice carbon neutrality in their direct operations (scope 1 and 2 emissions) by 2030, 12.5% reduction in indirect carbon emissions (Scope 3 emissions) by 2030 and become water positive by 2025.

72. Tata Power Co. Ltd.

Tata Power is one of India’s largest integrated power companies and together with its subsidiaries and jointly controlled entities, has an installed/managed capacity of 13,515 MW. The company is progressing towards green energy, with operations across the entire power value chain – generation of renewable as well as conventional power including hydro and thermal energy, transmission & distribution, coal & freight, logistics, and trading.
The company has developed the country’s first Ultra Mega Power Project at Mundra (Gujarat) based on super-critical technology. With 4.7 GW of clean energy generation from solar, wind, hydro, and waste heat recovery accounting for 34% of the overall portfolio, the company is a leader in clean energy generation.
In the FY 2021-22, the company spent Rs 2.09 crores on CSR initiatives, which is exactly what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act.
In terms of CSR, the company has set certain goals for itself for the coming few years. They want to train over 35 lakh youth as conservation and STEM education champions by 2027, they wish to enable over 1 lakh community collectives (Self Help Groups) by 2027.
Talking about sustainability, Tata Power Co. Ltd. plans to move towards water neutrality or positivity and zero waste to landfill before 2030 and aims to become carbon net neutral before 2045.
Their key flagship programmes include Anokha Dhaaga and Abha for empowering women and farmers collectives, Roshini integrated vocational training centres, Adhikaar for enabling access to state social security schemes, Club Enerji for developing conservation champions and STEM education, Arpan as a volunteering platform, PayAutention, a support network for autism spectrum children and families, Mahseer conservation activities and Tree Mittra for furthering region-appropriate native species plantations and biodiversity restoration.

73. Bajaj Holdings & Investment Ltd.

BHIL has been registered as a Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) with the Reserve Bank of India. The Company is classified as a ‘Systemically Important Non-deposit taking NBFC’ as per RBI Regulations.
Bajaj Holdings & Investment Limited (BHIL) – erstwhile Bajaj Auto Limited, was de-merged as per Order of the Bombay High Court, whereby its manufacturing undertaking has been transferred to the new Bajaj Auto Limited (BAL) and its strategic business undertaking consisting of wind farm business and financial services business has been vested with Bajaj Finserv Limited (BFS). Post-demerger, BHIL holds more than 30% shares each in BAL and BFS.
In the FY 2022, the company spent Rs 6.32 crores on CSR initiatives, which is lesser than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 8.70 crores).
Through its social investments, Bajaj Group addresses the needs of communities residing in the vicinity of its facilities by taking sustainable initiatives in the areas of health, education, environment conservation, infrastructure and community development, and response to natural calamities.
The company has spent for women empowerment (Maharashtra), Indian Army veterans (Maharashtra), financial inclusion (Karnataka), healthcare and malnutrition (Maharashtra), skill development training (Maharashtra) and prosthetic aid for people with disability (Maharashtra) among others.

74. SRF Ltd.

SRF Limited is a multi-business entity and one of the leading manufacturers of fluorochemicals, specialty chemicals, technical textiles and packaging flims, with 12 manufacturing plants in India, two in Thailand, one in South Africa and one in Hungary. SRF started its journey as a single unit tyre cord manufacturer in 1970 and their first plant was established near Chennai in 1974. The company is currently a leading diversified chemicals conglomerate with its range of products and solutions being sold across the globe.
In the FY 2021-22, the company spent Rs 18.55 crores on CSR initiatives, which is slightly less than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 18.61 crores). CSR is performed through SRF Foundation, which is the philanthropic arm of the company.
In the last FY, the company’s CSR focus has mainly been on rural education programmes, empowering youths through vocational skill development, environment sustainability, art and culture, Covid- 19 relief and flood relief.
SRF Foundation is integrating school dropouts and unemployed youths between the age group of 18-35 years into the mainstream workforce by equipping them with appropriate skills. For all the intervention programmes, SRF Foundation channelizes its resources in improving and mitigating the gaps by working collaboratively with government schools, headmasters, teachers, parents, students and agencies.
Under its flagship Rural Vocational Skills Programme, numerous programmes are ensuring professional training as well as employment of the rural youth. The different interventions include Basic Electrician Training Programme, Spoken English, JCB Operator and Forklift Training, Office Automation and Computer Training.

75. Marico Ltd.

Marico is one of India’s leading consumer products companies in the global beauty and wellness space. Marico is home to brands like Parachute, Saffola, Hair & Care, Nihar Naturals, Mediker, Pure Sense, Coco Soul, Revive, Set Wet, Livon, Just Herbs, True Elements and Beardo in the categories like hair care, skin care, edible oils, health foods, male grooming, and fabric care. Marico Limited is currently present in 25 countries across emerging markets of Asia and Africa.
In the FY 2021-22, the company spent Rs 22.32 crores on CSR initiatives, which is slightly more than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 21.50 crores). CSR is performed through Marico Innovation Foundation (MIF), a not-for-profit institution and a subsidiary of Marico.
Marico’s flagship CSR programme, Nihar Shanti Pathshala Funwala touched lives of teachers and students through an amalgamation of digitally powered and workbook-led English literacy courses. A vocational skill empowerment academy, specifically designed to create livelihood generation opportunities for women and youth, was launched in FY22.
The Parachute Kalpavriksha Foundation (PKF) is a non-profit organisation that steers to drive steps of change in the lives of farmers. The objective is to equip farmers to have increased sustainable crop yield leading to enhanced income opportunity and train them about scientific and research-based agricultural practices to improve productivity.
Marico Limited was honoured by the Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari at The CSR Journal Excellence Awards 2021 for its contribution towards Education and Skill Training.

76. United Spirits Ltd.

United Spirits Limited, a subsidiary of Diageo India, is an alcoholic beverages company and the world’s second-largest spirits company by volume.
In the FY 2021-22, the company spent Rs 17.657 crores on CSR initiatives, which is way more than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 7.490 crores).
The company, through its CSR initiatives, aims to empower the communities as stakeholders in their own development through a collaborative, and sustainable approach, underscored by responsible utilization of resource in partnership with community-based institutions, civil society organizations, value chain partners and industry peers.
It aims to undertake sustainable initiatives under agreed focus areas, leading to measurable progress, especially in areas of education, maternal and child health indicators, economic wellbeing and environment. Above all, it seeks to address the harmful effects of alcohol abuse in society and advocate responsible consumption of beverage alcohol, thereby creating a positive impact on society.

77. Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.

Apollo Hospitals was established in 1983 by Dr. Prathap C Reddy, renowned as the architect of modern healthcare in India. As the nation’s first corporate hospital, Apollo Hospitals is acclaimed for pioneering the private healthcare revolution in the country.
The vision of Dr. Prathap C Reddy, the Founder of Apollo Hospitals Group is what translates into the mission of the Apollo Foundation, which is, ‘to create meaningful interactions with people of our society, and help enhance their quality of life in every way we can.’ Following this, the healthcare company is highly committed to CSR.
In the FY 2021-22, the company spent Rs 16.239 crores on CSR initiatives, which is double of what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 8.312 crores). It conducts most of its CSR projects through Apollo Foundation.
In the above FY, the focus has been on rural development, education and skill development, providing free treatment to frontline forest officials, healthcare research, Apollo Aushad – distribution of medicines to geriatric centres and old aged homes, re-construction of primary healthcare centre building run by government of Kerala and several other projects in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and other states.

78. ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Ltd

ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company (ICICI Prudential Life) is a joint venture between ICICI Bank Ltd., one of India’s largest private sector banks, and Prudential. ICICI Prudential Life began operating in December 2000. For over a decade, ICICI Prudential Life has maintained its dominant position (on new business retail weighted basis) amongst private life insurers in the country, with an array of products to match the different life stage requirements of customer and enable them to achieve their long term financial goals.
In the FY 2021-22, the company spent Rs 6.82 crores on CSR initiatives, which is slightly more than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 6.76 crores).
CSR has been a longstanding commitment at ICICI Prudential Life Insurance and forms an integral part of the company’s activities. The company aims to proactively support meaningful socio-economic development in India and enable a larger number of people to participate in and benefit from India’s economic progress. It contributes and supports programmes and initiatives keeping ‘protection of life and health’ as the core proposition and cornerstone of all its CSR initiatives. This is in line with the Company’s vision ‘to build an enduring institution that serves the protection and long-term saving needs of customers with sensitivity’.
The Company contributes 70% of its annual CSR budget to ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth (ICICI Foundation), which takes forward CSR programmes on behalf of the ICICI Group. ICICI Foundation focuses on the areas of sustainable livelihood through skill development and identified social and environmental projects. During FY2022, the Company supported two programmes through ICICI Foundation, namely— Skill Development through ICICI Academy For Skills and Covid-19 Vaccination Programme in Maharashtra.

79. GAIL (India) Ltd.

GAIL (India) Limited is India’s leading natural gas company with diversified interests across the natural gas value chain of trading, transmission, LPG production & transmission, LNG re-gasification, petrochemicals, city gas, E&P, etc. It owns and operates a network of around 14617 km of natural gas pipelines spread across the length and breadth of country. It is also working on execution of multiple pipeline projects to further enhance the spread.
In the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) market, GAIL has a significantly large portfolio. GAIL and its Subsidiaries have a formidable market share in City Gas Distribution. GAIL is also expanding its presence in renewable energy like Solar, Wind and Biofuel.
In the FY 2021-22, the company spent Rs 204.97 crores on CSR initiatives, which is a lot more than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 130.70 crores).
GAIL has implemented CSR programmes primarily in the rural areas which are in close proximity to its major work centres or installations. It has identified seven broad areas of CSR intervention, each of which is titled by the objective they seek to achieve viz. Arogya – Nutrition, Health and Sanitation and Drinking Water projects, Ujjwal – Education initiatives, Kaushal – Livelihood Generation and Skill development initiatives, Unnati – Rural Development, Sashakt – Women Empowerment initiatives, Saksham – Care of the elderly and differently abled, and Harit – Environment centric initiatives.
GAIL’s Utkarsh programme provides free residential coaching, including boarding and lodging expenses for 11 months at Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Dwarahat (Uttarakhand) and Srinagar (Uttarakhand) to 160 students from underprivileged segments of society.
GAIL has taken up project Bhavishya in government schools in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. Smart class solutions have been provided in these schools as a part of the project. Further, 10 schools have been provided with sanitary napkin vending machines and incinerators. 155 Smart classes have been set up in Dharwad (Karnataka), Khunti and Giridih (Jharkhand), Rudraprayag (Uttarakhand) and various districts of Assam.
Over the years, GAIL Arogya project has become bigger and bigger and currently extends vital health care services through operation of 67 Mobile Medical Units (MMU), covering over 51 districts in 15 states of the country. The project primarily serves the underprivileged people who have limited access to the established Public Health Centre facilities.
GAIL is the nodal PSU for Skill Development Institute, Raebareli, the first skill academy set-up in the Hydrocarbon Sector in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is currently supporting establishment and operation 6 Skill development Institutes in Raebareli (UP), Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Kochi (Kerala), Vizag (Andhra Pradesh), Ahmedabad (Gujarat) and Guwahati (Assam), jointly promoting it with other PSUs.
GAIL, through Project Saheli, has organised specialized health and sensitization camps to identify and diagnose women and adolescent girls, who largely face the potential risk of getting infected from life threatening chronic diseases. The company has taken up project Adivasi Mahila Pragati to improve health & hygiene of tribal Women in West & East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh by providing low cost sanitary Napkins manufacturing.
The project also aims at improving school attendance among tribal girls aged between 10 and 17 years in primary and secondary schools, provide affordable access to safe hygiene practices and encourage tribal women to use sanitary napkins.
Clubfoot is a congenital deformity that severely twists the foot downward and inward, making walking difficult or impossible. In order to address this disability which can be completely cured through non-surgical procedures, GAIL is supporting 50 weekly clubfoot clinics across various districts of Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Uttarakhand.

80. ABB India Limited

ABB India, the ABB Group company was incorporated in India in 1949. It is a leader in power automation technologies, which enable industrial customers to improve their performance along with lower environmental impact.
The company views corporate social responsibility (CSR) as a channel to further its cause for a better world by writing the future together with its multiple stakeholders. It is committed to sustainable and inclusive development of the community’s social capital through active engagement. The Company’s CSR programs are aimed to contribute to the social development predominantly in areas where it operates”.
The main focal areas of ABB India’s CSR activities include: education and skill development, access to electricity, health care, environment and local safeguard, skill training and employment opportunities for the differently-abled.
ABB’s 2030 sustainability strategy, which was initiated in 2021 involves enabling a low-carbon society, preserving resources and promoting social progress while complying with regulations at their areas of operation.

81. Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company Ltd

Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company Limited is a financial and investment service provider in India. It is headquartered in Chennai and has 1029 branches across the country. It is one of the 28 businesses under the Murugappa Group. The company was prescribed to spend Rs. 36.32 crores in FY22 on its CSR initiatives as per the Company’s Act 2013. It exceeded this expectation by spending a total of Rs. 36.44 crores on the same in the last financial year.
The Murugappa group is known for its tradition of philanthropy and community service. The group’s philosophy is to reach out to the community by establishing service-oriented philanthropic institutions in the field of education and healthcare as the core focus areas. The company upholds the group’s tradition by earmarking a part of its income for carrying out its social responsibilities.
During the last financial year, inclusion was the central theme of the company’s CSR programmes and initiatives. The COVID-19 pandemic heightened the vulnerability of the marginalised segments such as children, women, the elderly and the specially abled. The main focus of the company’s CSR initiatives was community development through healthcare, and education, including research & development.
Chola is putting its efforts in India’s goal of achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs) by working with India’s large commercial vehicle population which is estimated at 5-6 million drivers and helpers, out of whom, about 2-2.5 million are classified as long- distance drivers.
Chola launched RAAHI in October 2017, one of the Country’s biggest Eye Health programme for the CVCM community, for reaching out to CVCMs with the prime focus on improving their overall well-being, especially eye health, and in the process, minimising road accidents. The programme includes not only mobile health camps but also static facilities at 30 locations, mostly on or around the Golden Quadrilateral network in the country. The key strength of the programme is real-time based data management which allows the CVCMs to receive eye screening services at one location and spectacle pick-up at their preferred location.
In the last financial year, the company’s CSR interventions were able to benefit 3,50,000 beneficiaries.

82. Punjab National Bank

Punjab National Bank is a public-sector bank headquartered in Delhi. The bank is the second largest bank owned by the government serving over 180 million customers.
Punjab National Bank views Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as its commitment to uplifting and empowering society economically and socially in a sustainable manner. The bank fulfilled its CSR obligation in FY2021-22 by spending an amount of Rs. 50.19 crores on the same.
As part of its CSR initiatives, the Bank has established 12 Farmers Training Centres. The FTCs providing free of cost training on agriculture & allied activities. These Training Centres have been equipped with mobile vans having Soil Testing facilities at the farmers’ fields and LED for audio-visual display of informative video clips to the farmers. The Bank spent Rs 475.72 Lakh under this during F.Y. 2021-22.
PNB’s Ladli scheme is meant for the popularisation of education among girls in Rural /Semi-urban areas. During F.Y. 2021-22, Rs. 8.47 lakh was distributed among 435 girl students.
Under the PNB Vikas Yojana, the Bank has adopted 295 villages for their holistic development through its CSR Fund. During F.Y. 2021-22, a total amount of Rs. 95.92 lakhs was spent under the scheme.
Punjab National Bank is the lead Bank in 111 districts of India, out of which 8 are aspirational districts. The bank contributes Rs. 20.00 lakhs to each district to upscale the healthcare facilities. The initiative is aimed at strengthening the Government’s initiative of Rogi Kalyan Samitis by upscaling and upgradation of the existing health system in the beneficiary districts. The Bank has spent Rs. 9.19 Crores on this initiative in the last financial year.

83. ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Ltd

ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Ltd. is one of the leading private-sector general insurance companies in India.
According to the company’s annual report, CSR has been a long-standing commitment of ICICI Lombard and forms an integral part of its activities. Being a responsible corporate citizen, the Company is committed to performing its role towards society at large. In FY 2021-22, the company was obligated to spend Rs. 33.9 crores on its CSR initiatives as per the Company’s Act 2013. The company spent Rs. 31.28 crores, carrying forward the balance amount to the next year.
The Company’s CSR activities primarily focus on areas like Health care, Road Safety, Ensuring Environment Sustainability, Education, Skill development and sustainable livelihoods and also support employees engagement in CSR and Sustainability activities.
ICICI Lombard’s flagship preventive healthcare programme, “Caring Hands” is a unique employee volunteering initiative launched in 2011. Through the programme, ICICI Lombard organises free eye screening camps for children in government and municipal schools. Eye care counselling and spectacle distribution are also offered to children who are identified with visual impairment during the camps. The company was accorded with The CSR Journal Excellence Awards 2021 for this program under the health and sanitation category.
In FY2022, ICICI Lombard also launched an environmental sustainability programme that involved the installation of solar panels in schools. The programme was aligned to India’s net-zero ambition and is an effort to offer access to clean energy for all. The initiative will help schools to reduce their environmental footprint while ensuring uninterrupted power for students.

84. IDBI Bank Limited

IDBI Bank Limited is a development finance institution under the ownership of the Life Insurance Corporation of India and the Government of India. It was established in 1964 as the Industrial Development Bank of India, a development finance institution which provided financial services to the industrial sector.
IDBI, in association with National Association for the Blind, established the NAB-IDBI Polytechnic for the Blind at Ambernath, Maharashtra in the year 1981 as part of its CSR, long before it became a mandate. The bank has constructed houses and access roads in Shirsal Tanda village in Latur, Maharashtra which was affected by a devastating earthquake in 1993. IDBI displayed the same level of responsiveness in times of natural calamities by providing immediate disaster relief in earthquake-hit areas of Gujarat (2001), tsunami-hit southern Indian states (2004), flash floods-hit state of Uttarakhand (2013) and the cyclone-hit Odisha (2013).
The bank spent Rs. 26 lakhs on its CSR initiatives in FY22, fulfilling its obligation as per the Company’s Act, 2013.

85. Canara Bank

Canara Bank is a public sector bank under the control and ownership of the Ministry of Finance, Government of India.
According to its annual report, CSR is embedded in the bank’s operations. Under CSR, the Bank aims to integrate environmental, social and governance objectives established in line with national priorities for inclusive development. CSR initiatives of the Bank are multifarious, covering activities like training unemployed rural youth, scholarships to meritorious SC / ST Girl students, renovation of schools and providing of other infrastructural facilities to the needy educational institutes, providing primary health care, drinking water, community development, empowerment of women, environment protection, Swachh Bharat, sports and other social initiatives. In FY22, the bank was mandated to spend Rs. 113.56 crores on its CSR initiatives according to the Company’s Act 2013. However, the actual CSR spending of the bank in the last financial year amounted to Rs. 50.96 crores, carrying forward the balance amount to next year.
Cumulatively, the Bank has sponsored / co-sponsored 74 training institutes, which have trained more than 11.34 lakh unemployed youth so far, with a settlement rate of 74%. The Bank has donated four hi-tech, custom-built, solar-powered ‘Retail Mobile Marketing Van’ to assist women entrepreneurs, SHGs and artisans in marketing their products. Canara Vidya Jyothi Scholarship scheme to meritorious SC / ST Girl Students. During FY 2021-22, 8200 students benefitted, utilising a total amount of Rs. 3.09 crores.

86. Tube Investments of India

Tube Investments of India Limited (TI), a member of the Murugappa Group, holds the belief that fulfilling social responsibilities is not just a corporate duty but a path of righteousness (Dharma). The company allocates a portion of its income to social responsibility through the Murugappa Group’s philanthropic arm, The AMM Foundation. TI’s charitable efforts reflect its spiritual conscience and allow it to meet its obligations to various segments of society. In FY2021-22, the Company exceeded its legally required spending on CSR initiatives, allocating Rs. 6.48 crores compared to the mandated amount of Rs. 6.17 crores.
The AMM Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Murugappa Group that was established in 1953 with the goal of prioritising community welfare over commercial success. The Foundation focuses on education and healthcare for the benefit of society. In education, it manages five schools and colleges, which are well-renowned centres of educational excellence and highly sought-after by the local community, providing affordable and quality education to thousands of students. The Foundation also operates four hospitals, offering quality medical services to hundreds of individuals in need regardless of their social or economic background. The AMM Murugappa Chettiar Research Centre, Chennai (MCRC) is a non-profit organisation established in 1973, recognised by the DSIR, Govt. of India and other government agencies, engaged in scientific and industrial research to develop sustainable solutions with a focus on food, energy, and the environment for the development of rural India.

87. Indian Overseas Bank

Indian Overseas Bank is a public sector bank based in Chennai. It has about 3,214 domestic branches, about four foreign branches and a representative office. IOB takes CSR very seriously. This is reflected by the fact that even though the bank was not obligated to spend any amount on CSR in the last financial year, it spent Rs. 5.58 lakh for the same.
IOB has been committed to and involved in various social causes, the most prominent being women empowerment – the Sakthi IOB Chidambaram Chettiar Memorial Trust and IOB’s Promotion of the Agricultural Seed Bank. The Sakthi IOB Chidambaram Chettiyar Memorial Trust is a public charity trust initiated by the Bank and its Staff Representative organisations in February 1996 in memory of Shri M.Ct.M.Chidambaram Chettiyar, the founder of IOB.

88. UPL Limited

UPL Limited, formerly known as United Phosphorus Limited, is an Indian multinational corporation that specialises in the production and distribution of agrochemicals, industrial chemicals, chemical intermediates, and speciality chemicals. Additionally, they also provide crop protection solutions.
UPL believes in promoting holistic and sustainable growth of society. The company’s commitment and interventions cater to all segments of society and are classified into four focus areas: (a) Institution of excellence; (b) Sustainable Livelihood; (c) Nature Conservation; and (d) Local and National Need. In FY 2021-22, the company spent Rs. 27.11 crores on its CSR initiatives, more than the amount it was obligated to spend, which stood at just Rs. 9.33 crores.
UPL’s CSR values are shared globally, and development initiatives are being undertaken in over 30 countries, such as Argentina, Brazil, Belgium, Colombia, Côte d’Ivoire, India, Kenya, Mexico, and the UK. The company is implementing and supporting more than 80 development interventions, benefiting more than 70 communities across different continents. It has impacted around 0.5 million lives globally through its CSR initiatives. UPL supports “Project Ekal Vidyalaya,” which aims to create one-teacher schools in the remotest parts of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. To date, more than 15,000 students have benefited from this project.
UPL’s fundamental belief is that “nothing is impossible.” The company’s two core values, “Always Human” and “Open Hearts,” guide its CSR initiatives. As a result, UPL’s interventions extend beyond the development of neighbouring communities and also address issues of national interest.

89. Berger Paints India Limited

Berger Paints India Limited is a multinational paint company based in Kolkata. The company firmly believes that an enterprise and the society in which it operates are mutually dependent on each other, and the growth of the industry is proportional to the development of the country, its environment and its people. In FY2021-22, the company spent Rs. 17.37 crores on its Corporate Social Responsibility, which is more than the mandatory amount it was obligated to spend of Rs. 17.16 crores, as per the CSR law.
The company’s social investment projects are targeted at socio-economic development for all, especially the marginalised and vulnerable populations around its operational areas.
iTrain is a key CSR initiative of the Company. It plays a crucial role in training unskilled and semi-skilled workers in painting, waterproofing, and polishing. Trainees are introduced to numerous products, procedures, and techniques, as well as soft skills and client interaction, in order to improve their efficiency and earnings.  Painters with enhanced skills are trained to become entrepreneurs and employ other painters under them. This ensures the all-around betterment and growth of painters in their profession.  More than 130,000 people have benefitted from this initiative so far.
Apart from this, the company also extends its support to Smile Foundation, a non-government organisation that works on welfare projects in the field of education, healthcare, livelihood and women.

90. Union Bank of India

Union Bank of India, also known as Union Bank or UBI, is a public sector bank based in Mumbai, India. It serves over 120 million customers and has a total business of US$106 billion.
Union Bank of India has been actively fulfilling its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) obligations. To this end, the bank established Union Bank Social Foundation Trust (UBSFT) in 2006 as a means to carry out its CSR activities. The UBSFT aims to support initiatives for social improvement and enhance the lives of underprivileged segments. The majority of the bank’s CSR activities are now executed through the UBSFT. During the year 2021-2022, UBSFT has approved 28 projects involving a sum of  Rs. 5.47 Crores in various sectors such as Education, Healthcare, Community Development, and Skill Development. The Bank was not obligated to spend any amount on CSR in the last financial year as per the Company’s Act, 2013.
Union Bank of India has implemented a well-developed Corporate Social Responsibility program with a focus on the rural sector through the establishment of Village Knowledge Centers and Farmers’ Clubs. The bank also has programs in place to support the education of young girls and has initiated projects to provide drinking water for schools and construct bus shelters. These CSR initiatives have been successful and continue to be an ongoing part of the bank’s efforts to contribute to the development of the nation.

91. Jindal Steel & Power Ltd.

Late Om Prakash Jindal found Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) 30 years ago and made the Jindal Group synonymous with mining and Industrialization in India. JSP is an industrial powerhouse with a dominant presence in steel, power, mining and infrastructure sectors. Led by Mr Naveen Jindal, Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) carries out its CSR activities in India through JSPL Foundation. Shallu Jindal leads the JSPL Foundation.
In the FY 2021-22, the company spent Rs 125.10 crores on CSR initiatives, which is way more than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 46.49 crores).
JSPL has the core competency of running huge factories and mining sites, which it leverages in implementing the CSR projects through JSPL foundation. The foundation provides concept and leadership in the CSR intervention programmes.
JSPL collaborated with HP in creating a telemedicine centre to provide advanced health and medical services to the community to reduce mortality and morbidity. The 7 Telemedicine centres are linked to the Fortis OP Jindal Hospital at Raigarh, Chhattisgarh.
OP Jindal Hospital and Research Centre, Raigarh, Chhattisgarh was established on 7th August 2008, the 78th birth anniversary of the Jindal group founder Shri OP Jindal with a solitary aim of providing complete healthcare services to areas around Raigarh. The Hospital conducts Free Super specialist camps in the villages collaborates with District Health authorities for Family Planning camps and cataract surgeries. It also conducts free Polio and CP deformity correction camps, free dental check-up camps and conducts Health Assessment for school children.
JSPL Foundation has created a good number of critical infrastructure in the company’s operational areas so as to improve the overall quality of life of the community; roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, drinking water facilities, electricity and toilets on a partnership basis where a component of community contribution in the shape of shramdaan (labour cost) is given by the community.
Jindal Steel & Power Limited was honoured by the Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari at The CSR Journal Excellence Awards 2021 for its contribution towards COVID-19 Relief.

92. Hero Motocorp Ltd.

Hero MotoCorp is the dominant market leader in India with over 50% share in the domestic motorcycle market. The company headquartered in New Delhi has been at the forefront of designing and developing technologically advanced motorcycles and scooters for customers globally. Hero MotoCorp continues to champion socio-economic progress and empowerment through its range of products and services.
Led by Dr Pawan Munjal, Chairman, Hero MotoCorp, it has taken rapid strides to expand its presence to 40 countries across Asia, Africa, and South & Central America.
In the FY 2021-22, the company spent Rs 87.85 crores on CSR initiatives, which is slightly more than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 87.22 crores).
Hero MotoCorp’s Road safety awareness is an essential intervention for preventing road accidents and making roads safer across the country. The company manages six road safety training parks across the country and offer motorcycles and scooters rider training to college students as well as the general public.
Their community development programs in West Bengal, Maharashtra, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Gujarat along with a few suburbs of Delhi-NCR are focused on healthcare, education and livelihood improvement, underlying our commitment to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Project Khelo Hero focuses on the development of sports at the grassroot level. It strives to encourage the sporting culture in the country. Project Shiksha focuses on upgrading and elevating the education ecosystem in the country. The objective of the intervention is to create an enabling and encouraging environment for imparting quality education in India.
Under the project ‘Hero Green Drive’, FY 2014-15 onwards, the company has planted over 2.38 million tree saplings.

93. Info Edge (India) Ltd.

Info Edge is one of India’s leadng online classifieds companies in recruitment, matrimony, real estate, education and related services. It is home to job search portal Naukri, property portal 99 acres, matrimonial site Jeevansathi and education portal Shiksha among others.
In the FY 2021-22, the company spent Rs 7.857 crores on CSR initiatives, which is exactly what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act.
In the financial year, the CSR activities of the company have been focused on education of children from low-income families; empowering young aspiring entrepreneurs from underprivileged background; Campus Development at Ashoka University; Art-based learning to children from disadvantaged communities; educating under privileged women and children and empowering them to become self-reliant and employable in Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Jharkhand, J&K and Telangana; Leadership development program through comprehensive life-skills based education; Research Centre Development at Plaksha University; digital literacy; supporting Teach For India fellows; employment enhancing vocational skills for Persons with Disabilities; supporting education for girls from vulnerable communities and other projects.

94. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd. (IRCTC) is a Mini Ratna (Category-I) Central Public Sector Enterprise under Ministry of Railways, Government of India. IRCTC was incorporated on 27th September, 1999 as an extended arm of the Indian Railways to upgrade, professionalize and manage the catering and hospitality services at stations, on trains and other locations. It also promotes domestic and international tourism through development of budget hotels, special tour packages, information & commercial publicity and global reservation systems. It’s registered and Corporate Office is situated at New Delhi.
In the FY 2021-22, IRCTC financially supported Dr.BAMH/Bycula Hospital for procurement of Heath equipment, financially supported the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India for provision Aid and Appliance to differently abled at Jammu, financiallysupported construction of 9 seated Sulabh Toilet Complexes at Janki Sthan, Sitamarhi, financially supported establishing a Chelation Pump, Library cum Thalassemia Wellness Centre Guna, Madhya Pradesh among other projects.

95. Zomato Ltd

Launched in 2010, Zomato Ltd (Formerly known as Zomato Private Limited) is a food delivery platform which connects customers, restaurant partners and delivery partners. It has also recently stated delivering grocery in major cities and towns across India.
The CSR Policy outlines the Company’s philosophy and responsibility and lays down the guidelines and mechanism for undertaking socially impactful programs towards welfare and sustainable development of the community around the area of its operations.
Feeding India by Zomato is a not for profit organization, designing interventions to reduce hunger among underserved communities in India. In January 2019, Zomato and Feeding India (registered as Hunger Heroes) collaborated to eradicate hunger and malnutrition in India. All efforts are concerted towards providing better food to more people.
As a response to the devastating consequences of the pandemic, Feeding India by Zomato launched the Daily Feeding Program in January 2021 to provide daily meal support to the most vulnerable families. Under this program, Feeding India has served 4.3+ crore meals with the main focus on reducing hunger for the most vulnerable, the company claims. This has been enabled with the support of over 140 NGO partners spread across 40 cities in the country.
With the Poshan to Pathshala campaign, Feeding India is supporting schools for low-income families through daily meals. The goal is to ensure that all the children in their formative years get the right nutrition for their holistic development.

96. PI Industries Ltd

Founded in 1946, PI Industries Ltd works with a unique business model across the Agchem value chain from R&D to distribution providing innovative solutions. The company is Known for their technological capabilities in Chemistry/Engineering related services. It has also built leading brands over the last 75 years and connected with more than 70,000 retail points pan India.
In the FY 2021-22, the company spent Rs 9.482 crores on CSR initiatives, which is less than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 13.684 crores). The company engages with the society through PI Foundation to leverage its CSR activities.
During FY 2021-22, as country battled with the destructive second COVID-19, PI Foundation rolled out a project for setting up 5 oxygen plants across hospitals in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Delhi. Several awareness sessions on precautions against coronavirus in villages around plant locations were also organised. PI through its CSR, provided financial support for setting up of COVID-19 Isolation centre to Vasant Vihar Welfare Association, New Delhi.
As part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, PI incessantly ensures the up keep and maintenance of 12 school toilets built by them in Jambusar and Panoli, Gujarat every year.
PI has deployed Mobile Health care vans providing preventive, promotive and curative health services at the beneficiary’s doorstep. In FY 2021-22, 90,287 cases were treated using our Mobile health vans by taking measures to ensure last mile coverage. In addition, efforts were also made to revive
Under the National Health Mission Project aimed at improving health entitlements in remote locations, PI through its ‘Swasthya Seva’ initiative operationalised three Mobile Healthcare Vans for the benefit of community in villages around our plant location. Their community outreach has brought healthcare to underprivileged people, including women, the elderly and children and provided services like prevention, treatment, immunisation & counselling on health issues.
PI has undertaken an education initiative under which, 15,000 children across 135 govt schools in 82 villages were taught reading, writing, comprehension and arithmetic in FY 2021-22. To promote comprehensive learning, their mobile education van has been imparting learning to the last mile through interactive techniques. This aims at improving the enrolment, reducing dropout, improvement in attendance, passing grades, and primary completion.

97. Yes Bank Ltd.

Yes Bank is a full service commercial bank providing a complete range of products, services and technology driven digital offerings, catering to Retail, MSME as well as corporate clients. The bank operates its Investment banking, Merchant banking & Brokerage businesses through Yes Securities, a wholly owned subsidiary of the bank. Headquartered in Mumbai, it has a pan-India presence including an IBU at GIFT City, and a Representative Office in Abu Dhabi.
This year, the Bank launched its five‑year CSR strategy, aiming to inspire India’s youth to lead economic and social development by training themselves for market-oriented jobs and taking up enterprise while retaining a focus on environmental sustainability. This strategy is being implemented through the Bank’s social development arm, YES Foundation (YF), to create employability and entrepreneurship opportunities. Additionally, the Bank is engaged in several ways to provide sustainable livelihoods to rural and marginalized communities.
The bank has initiatives to enhance income generation, promoting nano enterprises in rural India. They have a target to provide job-oriented skill development to 1,00,000 youth by 2026. Over 10,000 women and farmers in rural Gujarat, Haryana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh underwent capacity building training in market linkages and productivity enhancement. The bank has traine over 2,000 y outh on service sector job-oriented skill development and reached out to support COVID patients, rural farmers, and underprivileged youth.

98. Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

Torrent Pharma, the flagship Company of Torrent Group is one of the leading pharma companies of the country. The company today is ranked amongst the leaders in therapeutic segment of cardiovascular (CV), central nervous system (CNS), gastro-intestinal (GI) and women healthcare (WHC). The company also has significant presence in diabetology, pain management, gynaecology, oncology and anti-infective segments.
In the FY 2021-22, the company spent Rs 13.08 crores on CSR initiatives, which is less than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 22.84 crores). This 13.08 crores includes Rs 6.93 crore spent during the financial year, out of unspent amount pertaining to Ongoing Projects of FY 2020-21.
Torrent undertakes several programs and initiatives aimed at empowering people and the vulnerable with a holistic bent of mind, that of ensuring healthy lifestyles and encouraging wellbeing and development for all. Sustainable social development by investing in health and education is integral to Torrent Pharma’s growth strategy. The pharma company has forged strong community partnerships in the field of child health, women’s health & Hygiene, strengthening awareness about child malnutrition; and healthcare facilities around their operational locations. They also provide technology-led education to children, to improve age-appropriate abilities at the primary school level.
The CSR Activities undertaken by the Company were under the thrust areas of Community Healthcare, Sanitation & Hygiene, Education & Knowledge Enhancement and Social Care & Concern. REACH has three major pillars: (a) Grass Root Interventions (b) Green Field Actions and (c) Other Allied Activities.
Torrent Pharma’s Women Empowerment programmes include
–Sangini: A platform for women to express and celebrate womanhood, with health seminars held twice a year for all female employees.
Sakhi: A project aimed at addressing female hygiene issues. Women’s representatives gather on a regular basis to discuss and understand their challenges and concerns.
Neev: An initiative to encourage the sense of belongingness. Family orientation of Torrent Group, its foundation, values, female welfare initiatives and CSR activities followed by a facility visit affirms the safety, care and well-being provided to female colleagues. All these measures are helpful in hiring and retaining women employees at Torrent Pharma.

In India, Bosch set-up its manufacturing operation in 1951, which has grown over the years to include 16 manufacturing sites, and seven development and application centers. Bosch in India is a leading supplier of technology and services in the areas of Mobility Solutions, Industrial Technology, Consumer Goods, and Energy and Building Technology. In the FY 2021-22, the company spent Rs 22.469 crores on CSR initiatives, which is slightly more than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 21.583 cr).
In India, Bosch carries out CSR activities through Bosch Limited CSR, Bosch India Foundation and Primavera. Bosch Limited CSR looks into Vocational training for under educated youth leading to employment, Health, hygiene and education for government school children and Neighbourhood projects identified as per local society needs around Bosch locations. Bosch India Foundation looks into Holistic Village Development, and Vocational training for artisans. Primavera, which is funded and managed by Bosch employees, looks into helping children from below poverty line families by providing support for food, education, healthcare and vocational training.

100. TVS Motor Company

TVS Motor Company is a reputed two and three-wheeler manufacturer globally, championing progress through Sustainable Mobility with four state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Hosur, Mysuru and Nalagarh in India and Karawang in Indonesia.
In the FY 2021-22, the company spent Rs 17.01 crores on CSR initiatives, which is slightly more than what it was obligated to spend as per the Company’s Act (Rs 16.91 cr).
Srinivasan Services Trust (SST) is the social arm of TVS Motor Company which has been carrying out rural development activities since 1996. SST is working in thousands of villages spread over in five States of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Maharashtra. SST’s holistic approach focuses on critical areas of Economic Development, Health, Education, Infrastructure, Environment and Social and Cultural Development in the villages.
SST works with communities and governments to empower India’s rural poor through awareness, skills and training programs. Over the last twenty-five years, SST, with the help of TVS Motor Company, has been actively facilitating sustainable and self-reliant development across 2,500 villages in India, bringing a paradigm of holistic and sustained socio-economic change at the grassroots level across India.
Over Rs 85 crores have been contributed by TVS Motor Company towards COVID relief, the company announced recently. Procurement and distribution of essential medical equipment and medicines, spraying of disinfectant in villages and cities, life-saving oxygen concentrators and High Flow Nasal Oxygen (HFNO) machines, lakhs of food packets and much more were provided to the rural hospitals and communities.
SST provided assistance to 525 rural primary health centres and hospitals to ensure that far-flung rural communities have access to essential medical items on a priority. Apart from this, Rajiv Gandhi & Stanley Government Hospitals at Chennai were provided full support during the pandemic with the aim to save thousands of lives.
