Backed by newly acquired powers under the MMDR Act, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has intercepted nearly 4,000 metric tonnes of illegal coal worth ₹2.27 crore in a sweeping crackdown across Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) command areas.

Conducted between June 22 and September 8, the multi-state operation spanned vulnerable mining corridors in West Bengal and Jharkhand. Guided by DIG Shri K.P. Singh and overseen by Commandant Shri Rahul Singh Gautam, security personnel executed 778 targeted raids, filing an equal number of cases under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957.

* 67 Illegal Pits Shut Down: Unauthorized excavation sites were permanently sealed to choke off illicit supply chains at the source.

* Massive Recovery: A total of 3,966.990 metric tonnes of stolen coal, valued at ₹2,27,66,179, was confiscated.

* Logistics Crippled: Smugglers lost critical transport assets, including 2 trucks, 8 tractors, 3 pickups, 5 Totos, 97 motorcycles, and 218 bicycles.

* Suspects Apprehended: Four individuals were taken into custody during the raids for active involvement in coal pilferage.

Empowered to file direct complaints before competent legal authorities, the force has intensified intelligence-led patrols across the region. Officials confirmed that round-the-clock surveillance will persist to protect national mineral wealth and dismantle local theft networks operating within ECL territories.

A little girl’s salute to a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer in the Delhi Metro has become a touching moment that has resonated widely on social media. The incident occurred within a metro coach, where the young girl immediately stood to attention upon spotting the CISF personnel. This simple act has been shared by the official CISF handle on X, highlighting the warmth of the moment.

The video captures her raising her hand in a confident salute, a gesture that the CISF officer acknowledged with appreciation. Despite the brief exchange, the interaction left a lasting impression, showcasing a connection that transcends age and experience. The girl’s action was not merely spontaneous; it reflected a profound understanding of respect for uniformed services.

This reaction encapsulates the sentiment shared by many, who view the moment as emblematic of respect for national service.

Many individuals highlighted the unpretentious nature of the incident. The absence of any grand ceremonial backdrop or formal setting adds to the charm of the encounter. It serves as a reminder that acknowledgment and respect can be shown in simple yet meaningful ways, reinforcing the idea that even children possess a deep sense of appreciation for those in service.

The CISF’s caption accompanying the video underlines the broader message behind the salute. It stated that the girl’s gesture represents not only admiration for the uniform but also a tribute to the dedication and courage exhibited by those who serve in that capacity. This perspective has resonated deeply with viewers, further enhancing the emotional weight of the moment.

Reflection on Childhood Innocence and National Pride

In a world that can often seem overwhelming, the simplicity of a child’s salute offers a refreshing glimpse into how values are nurtured from an early age. The girl’s action may prompt adults to consider how they convey respect for those who protect and serve their communities.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has launched a preliminary enquiry regarding the escape of two inmates from the Central Jail in Srinagar. This incident reportedly occurred on the morning of August 23, when the inmates allegedly scaled the front wall of the prison. Officials confirmed the initiation of the enquiry on August 24, aiming to uncover the specifics surrounding the escape.

Inmates involved in the escape have been identified as Farman Khan from Sadanpora, Rajasthan, and Mukhtar Ahmed Gujar from Sanglan Chittergul, Anantnag district. Farman Khan was admitted to the jail on June 23, 2026, and is facing charges under FIR No. 19/2026, which includes violations of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Mukhtar Ahmed Gujar entered the jail on April 13, 2026, facing charges under FIR No. 20/2026, with similar legal provisions against him.

The CISF is closely collaborating with the Jammu and Kashmir Police to locate the escaped individuals. An official stated that the preliminary enquiry will investigate how the prisoners managed to breach the jail’s security, particularly in relation to the high walls surrounding the facility. Officials noted that this preliminary enquiry is a fact-finding endeavour to gather relevant information.

Details of the Investigation and Security Measures

Efforts to trace the escaped inmates have been promptly initiated by the local security agencies and law enforcement. The CISF’s preliminary enquiry will investigate specific aspects of the escape, including security protocols that were meant to protect the facility. Anonymous sources within the agency described the preliminary enquiry as a means to comprehend the full scope of the incident.

As part of the CIISF’s protocol, the preliminary enquiry serves as an initial investigation to confirm allegations and establish a basis for any potential disciplinary actions. An official indicated that a formal Departmental Enquiry (DE) will follow the completion of the police investigation. This DE will address any misconduct or rule infractions by personnel as guided by CISF and central civil service regulations.

Further updates regarding the details of the escape, along with information about the security measures in place at the prison, are expected as investigations progress. The CISF assumed responsibility for the security of Srinagar’s Central Jail on October 3, 2022. The force claims to maintain tight security, utilising trained personnel, advanced surveillance technology, and strict access controls for all sensitive locations.

Background on the Central Jail’s Security and Inmate Population

The Central Jail in Srinagar has housed over 1,500 individuals, including several connected to terrorism-related activities. This facility previously housed an array of foreign terrorists but has since relocated many to other facilities outside Jammu and Kashmir for security considerations. The CISF has developed rigorous control measures for both inner and outer perimeters since it took over security duties.

Officials remain focused on how the escape was executed, particularly in a high-security environment. Escapes from such prisons are rare, making this incident notable. Additional details from ongoing inquiries and security assessments are anticipated as authorities continue their search for the two inmates.

Consequently, the investigation aims not only to recover the escaped inmates but also to reinforce security measures and protocols at the Central Jail. This case will likely lead to a reassessment of supervision methods employed within such sensitive facilities in Jammu and Kashmir.

Quick Reaction Team (QRT)

A bus accident involving Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel occurred near the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, resulting in injuries to nine individuals, including eight members of the CISF. The bus skidded off the road and overturned along the Tarakote route in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Emergency services responded promptly to the incident. The injured were transported to local medical facilities for treatment. Reports indicate that the majority of the injured have been stabilised and are receiving necessary care.

Among the wounded, three CISF personnel were found to have sustained serious injuries and were later transferred to Narayana Hospital for specialised medical attention. Their identification includes Head Constables Sammy Kumar and M.M. Dubey, as well as Constable P.K. Traya.

Medical Response and Current Condition

The remaining injured individuals include a CISF sub-inspector and the civilian driver, Virender Singh. These individuals were taken to the Community Health Centre in Katra, where their conditions are reported to be stable. Medical teams have been closely monitoring their recovery in the aftermath of this unfortunate event.

Authorities have expressed gratitude for the efficiency of the medical teams at local hospitals, which played a crucial role in ensuring the rapid treatment of the injured personnel. Medical professionals were on standby due to foreseen risks associated with the busy pilgrimage season.

As investigations into the exact cause of the accident continue, officials have noted that such incidents, though rare, can occur in hilly terrain, particularly on routes frequented by pilgrims and security personnel.

Context of CISF Deployment

The CISF personnel involved in the accident had been deployed in the shrine area and were returning to their base after completing their assigned duties. The Mata Vaishno Devi shrine remains one of the most frequented pilgrimage sites in India, drawing millions of visitors each year.

Given its prominence and significance, security measures have always been rigorous around the shrine. This includes personnel from various security agencies aimed at thwarting potential threats, including any attempts by terrorists allegedly backed by external factions.

In light of the ongoing security concerns faced by the shrine, the CISF has been playing an essential role in maintaining a secure environment for visitors. The recent incident underscores the risks that security personnel often encounter while ensuring safety in such high-traffic areas.

Conclusion and Future Measures

Officials are expected to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the bus accident to identify the causes and any contributing factors. Preventative measures may be revisited to ensure the safety of personnel operating in areas with similar terrain and conditions.

Community leaders and local authorities are likely to collaborate on strategies to enhance road safety for both civilians and security forces alike, particularly during the peak pilgrimage seasons. This accident serves as a reminder of the need for vigilance and preparedness in maintaining safety standards.

As the affected personnel continue their recovery, the efforts to provide support for both the injured and their families are underway, demonstrating a commitment to the welfare of those who serve in protective roles during significant national and cultural events.

A heartwarming video from the Delhi Metro has emerged, showcasing a young child greeting a CISF personnel in a charming display of respect. The brief encounter has become a focal point of admiration on social media platforms after being shared by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on their official account.

In the clip, the young child confidently approaches the officer stationed at the metro station. The interaction begins with the child offering a salute before bending down to touch the officer’s feet, a traditional gesture signifying reverence in Indian culture. The CISF personnel, visibly moved by this innocent yet profound act, responds with warmth, solidifying the emotional weight of the moment.

The CISF described the interaction as more than a simple display of endearment, noting its significance in illustrating the respect and admiration that even young citizens hold for those who serve the community. They stated that the appreciation shown by the child reinforces the trust and respect that binds citizens with their guardians.

Social Media Response to the Video

The video, though only lasting a few seconds, has garnered extensive attention across various social media platforms. Viewers have expressed their admiration for the child’s upbringing and the values instilled in them, reflecting a broader societal appreciation for civility and respect for public servants.

Many users praised the CISF personnel for their dedication to maintaining safety and order within the metro, commending their silent yet vital role in ensuring the protection of millions of commuters every day. The overwhelming positive response showcases a deep appreciation for the efforts of such service personnel.

Commenters referred to the video as an uplifting refreshment amidst the often negative content on social media. Numerous individuals remarked that the child’s actions highlight the importance of instilling respect for public service at an early age, as such behaviours often become lifelong values that shape societal interactions.

Significance of Respect in Society

This incident serves as a poignant reminder of the simple yet profound gestures that can foster respect and admiration within a community. The interaction between the child and CISF personnel exemplifies how respect can be seamlessly passed from one generation to the next, instilling a sense of duty and honour towards those who serve the nation.

Moreover, the CISF highlighted that such moments strengthen the connection between everyday citizens and those dedicated to their safety. In a world where respect for authority can sometimes wane, this exchange stands out as an example of the potential for mutual admiration and respect to thrive within society.

In conclusion, the video not only captures a tender moment between a child and a security officer but also resonates with a broader theme of respect that is essential for a cohesive society. As social media continues to spread such uplifting narratives, it serves to remind the public of the values that underpin the fabric of the community.

A jawan of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has been apprehended following an alleged attempt to sexually assault a ten-year-old girl in West Bengal. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon in the West Burdwan district, specifically near the Lal Bazar area which is close to a CISF camp. As reported, the girl had gone to collect raw mangoes with another child in the vicinity of residential quarters.

According to local eyewitnesses, the two girls, aged five and ten, were in the area when the accused, identified as Ramakant Vishwakarma, aged 40, is said to have approached them. He reportedly enticed the children by offering additional mangoes and subsequently took them on his scooter to a nearby location. While the younger girl was allegedly made to wait outside, the older girl was taken inside, where the attempted assault occurred.

The girl reportedly raised an alarm during the altercation, prompting the accused to flee the scene on his scooter. This incident quickly gained traction within the community as news spread, resulting in a significant public outcry.

Community Response

In reaction to the incident, local residents gathered outside the CISF camp to voice their anger, leading to protests and a blockade on the road. Demonstrators at Shitalpur Gate No. 3 insisted that they would continue their protest until the suspect was apprehended. The local community expressed outrage, demanding justice for the young victim.

The girl’s father, in conjunction with local Trinamool Congress (TMC) trade union leader Ratan Masih, formally reported the incident at the Saktoria police outpost. The complaint initiated a swift response from law enforcement, demonstrating the community’s determination to address the crime effectively.

Police officials indicated that they acted rapidly, managing to detain the accused within hours of the incident, leading to his eventual arrest. A case was filed under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, reinforcing the seriousness with which such allegations are treated.

Official Statements and Ongoing Investigation

Local TMC leader Chandan Acharya noted that tensions escalated in the aftermath of the incident, threatening community peace. However, he commended the prompt action taken by the police in ensuring that the accused was located and arrested swiftly. Officials clarified that Vishwakarma was not involved in election-related duties and was serving in a regular capacity associated with coal mining operations in the region.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are actively gathering more information to establish the facts surrounding the case in order to ensure justice for the victim. The handling of this situation by law enforcement has been closely monitored by the community, reflecting a heightened awareness around issues of child safety and security.

The case also serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges related to safety for children in various communities, as residents remain vigilant and supportive of measures aimed at preventing such incidents from recurring. The commitment to justice in this incident underscores the community’s resolve to protect its most vulnerable members.

March 10 marks CISF Raising Day, commemorating the establishment of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in 1969 under the CISF Act of 1968. Initially formed to secure industrial facilities, the CISF has evolved into a crucial security agency providing protection for airports, seaports, metro systems, heritage sites, and nuclear installations across India. This day serves to honor the courage and dedication of CISF personnel who play a vital role in maintaining the nation’s critical infrastructure and public safety.

The Mandate of CISF

The Central Industrial Security Force operates as an armed police entity under the Ministry of Home Affairs. With a modest beginning of around 3,000 personnel focused on securing public sector enterprises, the CISF’s responsibilities have significantly broadened. Its current mandate includes safeguarding key areas such as airports, metro rail systems, nuclear power plants, government buildings, and disaster response operations. Raising Day symbolizes the force’s progress and recognizes the sacrifices made by its members in service to the nation.

Protection of Civilian Nuclear Facilities

CISF is tasked with the security of all operational civilian nuclear power plants and numerous research and fuel-cycle facilities in India. The force is stationed at vital sites, including nuclear power stations and fuel complexes, providing crucial services like perimeter security, gate management, and armed response capabilities. Official government briefings designate the CISF as the primary agency responsible for the physical protection of civilian nuclear infrastructures.

Multi-Layered Security Approaches

To secure nuclear facilities, the CISF employs a layered strategy known as ‘defence in depth.’ This includes features like robust reactor designs, perimeter fencing, electronic monitoring, intrusion detection, rigorous vehicle checks, and armed personnel stationed outside reactors. Security planning is geared to address Design-Basis Threats, complemented by specialized rapid response and Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs), explosives training, canine units, anti-drone measures, and supportive fire and rescue operations. The CISF collaborates closely with facility operators, such as the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), alongside local police forces, a practice regarded as standard by international guidelines and technical assessments.

Scope of CISF Operations

The CISF’s operational responsibilities encompass various critical areas, including major airports and metro systems throughout India, civilian nuclear power stations and research institutions, seaports, and significant government and historical sites. This broad array of tasks underlines the versatility and high training standards maintained by the CISF.

Guardians of Nuclear Weapons and Commands

It is essential to differentiate between the security of civilian nuclear sites and the management of India’s nuclear weapons. The Nuclear Command Authority (NCA) and the Strategic Forces Command (SFC) oversee the custody, deployment, and operational readiness of nuclear arsenals. Protection for these strategic assets is provided by military formations, not the CISF, who focus on civilian-related security.

The Significance of CISF’s Role in National Security

As India continues to modernize its infrastructure, the complexity and interconnectivity of these systems increase. The CISF’s responsibilities in ensuring the security of critical sites related to energy, transportation, and scientific research are vital in preventing disruptions to economic development and public safety from potential threats. Raising Day serves as a moment to acknowledge the diligence and vigilance of these security professionals, whose efforts ensure the uninterrupted progress and safety of society.
