Investigators believe the kidnappers contacted an unidentified woman, acquiring her QR code to facilitate money transfers from Gupta’s bank account. These transactions depleted his account limit of approximately Rs 1 lakh.

Following the abduction, the kidnappers compelled Gupta to call his family to assure them of his safety. However, his relatives sensed something was amiss and began tracking his whereabouts independently. Their efforts reportedly directed them to Pandripani village, whereupon the alleged kidnappers fled upon realising that Gupta’s family was approaching, leaving him behind. The family then notified the police regarding the incident.

Upon receiving this information, Pusaur Station House Officer Harshvardhan Singh, along with his team, initiated a swift response, successfully rescuing Gupta from confinement. The operation was ordered by the Senior Superintendent of Police for Raigarh, Shashi Mohan Singh, aiming to apprehend those involved in the act. Within 24 hours, one suspect named Sunil Sarathi, a resident of Jakela village, was reportedly arrested. He allegedly confessed to participating in the kidnapping and orchestrating the digital extortion.

In more significant cases involving mass conversions, the consequences can extend to life imprisonment and fines up to Rs 25 lakh.

One of the notices, displayed outside the historic Sunderganj Mennonite Church, specifies that entry to worship is limited to Christians only. It reads, “As per the rules of the church management, entry into the church building for worship is only for Christians. Others, if they enter voluntarily, will (themselves) be responsible for it.”

Context Surrounding the Decision

The decision to enforce such restrictions followed a meeting on September 15 at the district Collectorate, which involved representatives from both Hindu organisations and the Christian Forum. Diamond Filus, general secretary of the Dhamtari District Christian Forum, stated that they were invited to the meeting without prior knowledge of the attendance of right-wing organisation members. During the meeting, representatives reportedly voiced concerns about non-Christians visiting churches, demanding that unconverted individuals not be permitted entry.

In addition, approximately Rs 6.76 lakh was reportedly obtained from her family both before and after the wedding under various justifications, further complicating the relationship between the two families.

Reflecting on his personal experiences as a farmer, Sai expressed his understanding of water’s critical importance. He noted that Chhattisgarh accounts for roughly 4% of the nation’s geographical area and has excelled within the ‘Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari’ campaign. In JSJB 1.0, the state constructed 4,05,561 water conservation structures, earning it a second-place ranking nationwide. For JSJB 2.0, work commenced on 24,07,456 structures, with 23,07,768 completed, again placing Chhattisgarh second. Now, in the third phase, the state leads with 79,775 reported water conservation structures, of which 77,719 have been completed, establishing it as the top performer in the campaign.

The initiative is designed to mitigate rainwater runoff and promote groundwater replenishment, thus aiding in the availability of water in wells and borewells. Notably, several districts in Chhattisgarh, such as Surajpur, Mahasamund, Balod, Baloda Bazar-Bhatapara, and Kabirdham, are recognised among the top ten districts for their water conservation efforts, owing to remarkable community involvement.

Reductions in Groundwater-Stressed Blocks

Chhattisgarh has seen a significant decline in groundwater-stressed blocks classified as ‘critical’ and ‘semi-critical’, dropping from 26 to 19. The number of blocks deemed ‘critical’ is also anticipated to return to normal, highlighting the effectiveness of the state’s ongoing conservation initiatives.

In alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message of ‘Catch the Rain—Where It Falls, Let It Be Stored’, Chhattisgarh is executing water harvesting and groundwater recharge initiatives tailored to its unique geographical conditions. मिट्टी का तोता क्यों होता है खास?

सुआ नृत्य की सबसे खास बात यह है कि इसमें किसी वाद्य यंत्र की आवश्यकता नहीं होती। महिलाएं मिट्टी के तोते वाली टोकरी के चारों ओर घेरा बनाकर बैठती या खड़ी होती हैं और सुआ गीत गाते हुए तालियों की थाप पर नृत्य करती हैं। पारंपरिक साड़ी पहनकर किया जाने वाला यह नृत्य सामूहिकता और उत्सव की भावना को दर्शाता है।

गौरा-गौरी विवाह से है गहरा संबंध

छत्तीसगढ़ में दीपावली के अगले दिन गौरा-गौरी विवाह का विशेष लोक उत्सव मनाया जाता है। इस दौरान भगवान शिव और माता पार्वती की मिट्टी की प्रतिमाएं बनाकर उनका विवाह कराया जाता है। इसी धार्मिक और सांस्कृतिक आयोजन के बाद सुआ गीत और नृत्य की शुरुआत होती है।

गोंड समुदाय से जुड़ी है परंपरा

सुआ नृत्य का विशेष संबंध छत्तीसगढ़ और मध्य प्रदेश के गोंड आदिवासी समुदाय से माना जाता है। हालांकि समय के साथ यह परंपरा पूरे छत्तीसगढ़ की लोक संस्कृति का हिस्सा बन गई। सुआ गीतों में महिलाओं की भावनाओं और अपनी पसंद के जीवनसाथी को लेकर उनकी अभिव्यक्ति भी दिखाई देती है। यही वजह है कि यह नृत्य केवल मनोरंजन नहीं, बल्कि लोकजीवन और महिलाओं की भावनाओं का जीवंत प्रतीक भी माना जाता है।

The incident occurred in Hinganjhar village, under the jurisdiction of the Kacche police outpost, within the Bhanuppratappur police station area. The pipeline installation is part of the government’s initiative to provide tap water to households across the region.

Details of the Recovery

Officials stated that Ramdev Anchla, approximately thirty years old, entered a trench on July 28 to connect a household pipeline. During this time, soil was being filled into the trench by a JCB machine from the opposite side. It is reported that the JCB operator may have been unaware of Ramdev’s presence in the trench, leading to a tragic accident where he was buried under the earth.

Witnesses allege that several other workers were engaged in tasks 20 to 40 metres away and did not observe the incident. When Ramdev did not return for lunch, his colleagues began to search for him. Initially, his phone rang but subsequently became unreachable, raising further concerns among his family and the community.

After failing to locate him, a missing person’s report was filed with local police. On July 31, a team comprising police, local representatives, and villagers undertook renewed excavation efforts at the suspected site. After digging approximately ten metres, they found Ramdev’s body in a sitting position within the trench, prompting shock and disbelief among those present.

Community Response and Investigative Actions

In the aftermath of the body’s recovery, enraged villagers reportedly attacked the JCB operator, Vijay Rajput. Police intervened to manage the situation and subsequently took Rajput into custody. He asserted that he had not seen Ramdev inside the trench while performing the filling operation, suggesting that the search for the labourer only commenced after he failed to return during lunchtime.

Law enforcement officials have dispatched the body for a post-mortem examination, scheduled for August 1 at Bhanupratappur. This examination is crucial in determining the cause of death and any relevant circumstances surrounding the incident.

Both authorities and the Public Health Engineering Department have initiated an investigation to ascertain if the required safety protocols were adhered to at the worksite. This inquiry aims to assign responsibility and may lead to further recommendations for improving safety measures in similar projects in the future.
