Mitsubishi Electric Group companies in India undertook a joint initiative to support the Welfare Centre for Speech & Hearing Therapy at Gurgaon under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

The companies pooled in their resources to set up a composting plant for recycling kitchen waste, installed cold drinking water facility and refurbished the hostel kitchen and mess infrastructure in the school.

The initiatives aimed at welfare of differently-abled children residing in the hostel by providing them with a clean and hygienic environment.

With the step, Mitsubishi Electric India (MEI) and Mitsubishi Elevator India Pvt Ltd (IMEC) aimed to contribute towards development of a sustainable society under their ‘Environment Vision 2021’.

The school kitchen produces a significant amount of biodegradable waste every month, which needs to be thrown due to absence of a composting plant.

Makoto Kitai, Managing Director, Mitsubishi Electric India, said, “We saw the composting plant as a step in the right direction towards the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan since it is a great way to recycle the kitchen waste and put it to good use.”

The children and staff of the Welfare Centre for Speech and Hearing Therapy along with employees and senior officials from Mitsubishi Electric Group Companies took active participation in the event and were present in huge numbers to support the cause and applaud the good work being carried out by the Welfare Centre for Speech and Hearing Therapy.
